Magazine capacity seems to be a major issue with many. I was a cop for 20 years. During that time, and in the years since one thing holds true. The vast, overwhelming majority of shootings happen within about 20-25 feet, last about 3 seconds, and fewer than five rounds are fired. The ability to put rounds center mass, under stress, from different positions and grips determines survivability more than the capacity of your EDC handgun. Jeff Cooper swore by the .45 1911 and its 7 rounds. I'm not trying to be argumentative. I love the Sig and have carried one. I own a 48. I've carried Gold Cups, High Powers, S&W 19s, and the new M&P line. My point is that training, familiarization, and practice will better enable you to function under stress and get those first two or three rounds where they need to be. I think that should be the #1 focus. Not mag capacity. Ok...let the hate begin in 3, 2, 1...
I think most would agree you could have a hundred rounds but end up with a hundred misses, shot placement is absolutely necessary but I would also say having the extra rounds on hands never hurt.
No hate here either buddy, lol. I'm definitely 98% more worried about where my first 2 or 3 rounds are gonna go than a fire-fight from hell. If those first few aren't right then I'm kaput anyway.
You are absolutely right, I carry with a staccato C with an 8 round mag and my friends think im nuts for not having at least 15, I carried a 5 shot snub for years, 8 rounds is a major upgrade 😂
G48 with a 3.5# Ghost Trigger Connector Bar, AmeriGlo Nights, Talon Pro Grips and a pair of Shield Arms S15 Mags is my new EDC as of yesterday after carrying a G30S for years.
Awesome! I really liked the G30S. I now have the 48 mos. I was thinking of changing the trigger, but I don't know if it will affect the reliability. Probably not, but it's just a thought that I had.
That 30S is a great companion. It's basically a slightly wider 19. But what a thumper it is. Eleven rounds of knock em down in your holster! I carried one for a couple of years. Harder to hide but what a thumper of a pistol!
@@Username-ld7ho I’ve had good luck with drop in triggers in the past. Didn’t notice a difference in reliability but got more accurate with the lighter wall. I’m about to install the apex trigger on my g48 MOS one of these weekends. IMO a drop in trigger are an easier install than properly aligned iron sight without smearing the finish.
Good God. Really wanted to watch the whole video, but was ready to shoot myself by the time I got to the 10 minute mark. 10 minutes of talking and didn't say anything!
The people hoping for a “20-round flush fit” G19 mag are forgetting that the OEM 15-round mag is already a double stack. Unless Shield Arms can come up with a TRIPLE STACK mag design, a “20-rounder” for the G19 isn’t happening. Shield Arms was only able to make a 15-round mag for the G43x/G48 because the OEM mags aren’t double stack.
I haven't carried anything other than my 48 with shield mags since i got it. I'll never get rid of my 19. I like that my sub 2k can share mags with it, but for a dedicated carry setup the 48 is it for me.
The 48 MOS is just the best concealed carry setup you can get right now. 15 rounds in a super thin 9mm with a flush fit red dot. All that in one of the most reliable platforms available.
I went from a 43 to a 43x with shield arms mags. to a p365XL with icarus ace frame, hogue grip, holosun 507k, olight mini valkyrie 2 / tlr 7 sub imho the p365XL / p365 x is superior to any other carry guns including the g43x/48 like the video poster stated, stock, the sigs's blow the glocks out of the water, if you throw 500 bucks or more into your glock , sure its to each his own. I think the p365 X with an icarus ace metal frame and magguts 14+1 flush mags with a holosun 507k/rmr cc and a light is pretty tough to beat... how does the c2 duo stack up with all of this? atlas edc 3.5? others?
I have gen2 S15 mags here in a gen5 G48. Lots of f2f issues turned into correspondence with SA. Here’s their actual 2/20/23 response: “We have noticed since our mags rest a bit further back than the OEM they reveal issues in the slide much quicker than OEM mags.” In other words, “our product doesn’t work well for it’s intended use, but it’s not our fault.”
The 43X is a contender with the Shield Arms 15 rd mag for personal carry. What counts is what fits your hand and points best for you. The Sig P356 and P365XL have a much nicer trigger than the Glock right out of the box; however, there are tradeoffs and for my hand size (Large), the Glock grip pointed straighter at the target more naturally (for me). Buyers should hold and dry fire the prospective pistols side by side, to see how they fit your hand. While you can learn how to shoot anything, there is an advantage to buying the size and shape of gun that fits you best. Shooters with medium or smaller hands generally prefer the smaller grip size of the Sig P365 models.
20:50 😂 you were right I bought my 48 this year and it's got the mos and a rail. Now it's really the perfect carry! And you can buy a 43x threaded barrel with a slide and now you have both the 48 and the 43x because they share dimensions! Holosun 407k TLR sub 7 👌
I have been thinking of taking the G48. Trade in my G43. I would only carry this for EDC. My G19 will still be my go to for SHTF. I got more mags for that than anything else but for just EDC, this seems cool
That would be a really nice upgrade. And if you have to go to a wedding or in shorts and a tshirt, you can just get an 80% G43 frame and slap in on there.
Here's another thought about mindset and who carries. From a military mindset, a G19 is the perfect size for a fight. You serve in the military, you're expecting a fight. You BRING the fight. As a cop, your job is peacekeeping. You react to a fight with as much as you can bear. For a civilian that isn't a cop or a soldier, you are not expect to fight but still understand that the fight can come to you. Your role is to simply live the best life you want but your mindset should not be "fight". For retired servicemen and cops, it's hard to shake the handgun in an EDC capacity that is NOT "about the fight". Is the G19 a good gun for EDC. Yes but how it's design is not for EDC. The G26 is designed for EDC. MANY handguns are "designed" for EDC. Meant to be easier to conceal. Otherwise, you dress to the gun.
I carry a G26 usually with a G19 mag with an Xgrip sleeve. Best part of a G26 is if i decide to use the G26 mag its even smaller. The versatility of the G26 is (to me at least) superior than a G48. Shit i can throw a 33rd mag in there if i want!
I decided to have the best of both words. Got a Glock 19x & a Glock 48 MOS, lol. I have a Ruger PCC that can share mags, so it all works together well.
I shoot idpa and uspsa ,went to buy a sig 365 xl and the mag would hit my palm so sales showed me the 48 , I found out in compition I can draw the 48 faster and better grip and change mags faster, I sold the 365 xl but it's probably a better deal and bought the 43x to carry, I made expert in idpa ccp with the 48 lm now seeing how far I can get in uspsa with the 43x with 20 round shield mags.
Yep, Glock came out with the G48 MOS and made your purchase of the G48 obsolete- (same thing happens with Taylor guitars). Anyway, I waited, got the G48 MOS, Holosun 507k green dot sight. TLR-7 Sub light and conceal carry holster for this combo from Werks. I love this as my everyday carry. I admit that I am also keeping my modded G19 carry and take both to range etc. However, I have decided to sell my other G19, G34, and G17 as the future is Red/Green/Yellow Dot Sights and illumination on your carry/home defense firearms. Lastly, I still keep my CZ CP10 C that is super comfortable and fixed the only two problems it had- An extended mag and slide stop release. Also I have kept some sentimental firearms that are just fun to shoot when that is the purpose of the day. An old Tanfoglio, all steel CZ-75 copy DOA or SA for example.
I have both the P365 xl and the Glock 48 MOS. Both are equipped with Holosun 507k red dots and 15 round mags. Also threw on an apex trigger and night sights on the 48. I love them both, but at the end of the day, I still prefer the 365 xl.
@@brighthought11 Overall, the ergonomics of the xl just works better for me in relation to the size of my hands and the trigger is better, in my opinion. I'm just more consistent with the xl than the 48.
Both the 365xl and the 48 are tops as far as edc carry guns go, and you can’t go wrong with either one. Having said that, my preference is the 48. But, I’ve been a Glock guy for years, having carried several different models as duty weapons over a 10 year span as an LEO here in Oklahoma. I carry the 48 with the Shield Arms magazines for my edc, and my wife liked mine so much that she bought one as well and carries it routinely. In fact my only complaint on the 48 is that Glock for some dumbassed reason decided to release it with no rail for a light. A petty point I know, but it is what it is. But that’s not enough of an issue for me to dislike the weapon, and it’s still my go to for everyday carry. However, I sure wouldn’t discount anyone for carrying the 365xl, it’s an awesome piece also.
Bought my wife a 43X for mother's day to replace her 43, went with this vs a 365 or Hellcat because I'm a Glock fanboy and the existence of Shield S15 mags. I bought 3 the day I bought the gun and finally got around to testing them out today, 0 issues. It's a game changer, and my wife now has a gun she shoots better than the 43 and carries 9 more rounds in the mag.
Well I agree with you about the G48 being the best carry gun but not with that 15 round mag! The reason I purchased this G48 is because it is a slim single stack gun without the extra weight or bulky feel of a double stack and is the same size as a G19. It shoots like a dream and if you think I'm going to buy this after market 15 round mag and pay $48 for it, you are insane! This would defeat the whole purpose of me buying this gun in the first place. NO THANKS!
Shield is working on mags for the 43 to up it’s capacity, they need to do Glock 19 mags though, maybe 20 rounds in a 19, which would be awesome. Also you can order the mag release from HYVE for $10 cheaper, it’s aluminum as well and works good with my shield mags.
Both of these guns are great and they work and go bang without an issue. The 43x or the 48 gives a individual a choice in barrel lengths with same ammo capacity which is a win win.
I just picked up a G48 MOS, and it is optics ready, with a rail. I am in the process of getting Shield Arms magazines, and a Holosun 507K, i will be all set. Good review.
It is a cool option for a great gun. For me, paying $50 per mag + $20 for a mag catch, then being unable to use OEM mags doesn't make sense. The only thing with a chance of replacing my carry 365XL is an HK VP9 single stack with the same or better capacity.
Im a fan of Glock but id take my 365 XL over the 43x and 48 all damn day long. The 48 doesn’t even compete unless you drop an extra $200-$300 in it. Gotta upgrade the sights, mags, and optic option. Not to mention a far better trigger on the XL although i think the Glock gen 5 triggers are fine.
I upgraded my 48 quite a bit with flat trigger, better sights, etc. Only to find the XL has those features stock. Sold my 48 for the XL and glad I made the switch.
I have already gotten a G48 MOS on order and trading in my regular G43. The G43 with a +3 in the mag has been my EDC for quite a while now but after working with the G48 and my thoughts on EDC has change, I'm picking the slightly larger gun over the smaller gun.
i appreciate his transparency explaining the comparisons. i picked the CZ P10c because it offered more straight out of the box compared to a Glock 19. never intended on doing and mods to my firearms. BUT! i never would shy away from the reliability of Glock so i’m only interested in the Glock 48 as a summer carry. take it for what it is. it’s super thin and easy to shoot! i’ll take it anyway as a seasonal firearm.
🙏💡😂 You came to the conclusion that I thought you would 🤔 I have both and I plan to do all those things to my 48 ... But my EDC is the 365Xl with the Romeo ZERO red dot and the Trigger is the X5 flat trigger and it’s nice 🤷 have one upgrade for it which is a small comp to reduce some recoil 🙏🇺🇸 Great video
1) If you need a comp on a 9mm carry gun, you need more training 2) If you need a aftermarket trigger, you need more training. It is also more likely to fail than a factory trigger. 3) If you’re carrying 15 and 20 round mags in your carry gun, you might as well have a G19.
BladeArtist 205 I think it’s kinda funny when people talk about getting Guccied out carry/duty pistols. They obviously don’t run their guns much. It’s one thing to change the sights, or add a new baseplate, but adding new triggers and modifying them for carry is a recipe for disaster. It’s different if it’s strictly a range/competition toy though. There is a reason you don’t see special forces running damn race guns.
Matt M It looks cool. Makes a difference with +P+ Ammo too. Everyone needs more training but my background speaks for itself being part of the SF 19th.
Now their magazine catches are steel which is what I have now with the Shield arms 15 rounders. I have not had any failures in my 43x to date using S15 magazines after 1 thousand rounds fired.
Finally someone making sense about the frame printing and not the slide idk why glock makes shorter barreled pistols with larger frames defeats the purpose in my opinion
I have had failure to feed problems with the Shield arms, A glock store extended mag was installed by the otigional owner. He is a certified Glock smith.
man i bet your annoyed now that the 48 mos is out. love the channel and the reviews. not a copy and paste channel like so many others. you guys put your own thoughts into the products. got the mos myself and much better carry in the summer than the 19. havent had much time on the 365 but hope to soon change that. thanks.
I have issues with my shield mags as do other shooters. Suggestions are to swap out the followers for the Glock followers. Haven't tried this as 11 rounds in the 48 is good. Capacity is fine, accuracy and reliability due to properly training is better.
@@MiniWolf666 you're close. It's about concealment: the SAS is much smaller. But when you're wearing hoodies, jackets, etc it's easier to conceal the bigger 48
@@sidekickz2180 Gotcha, thanks for responding to a 2 month old comment to quench my curiosity. I’ll have to look into the pros and cons of the Sig SAS then. Thanks again.
@@MiniWolf666 no problem! I'll forewarn you, you'll find a LOT of people complaining about the SAS sights. I don't have a problem with mine, but a lot of folks do I guess. The biggest issue with the SAS versus the regular P365 is the price, to be totally honest. If you have the extra money to throw around (hello stimulus check!) then the SAS works great as a pocket pistol and it's extremely rare to see...so it makes it a great conversation starter. Not too many folks have ever seen sights like it has. But, you'll be paying about a hundred dollars more for it versus the regular P365. If you have a store near you that has an SAS, go check it out. The sights are freakin awesome
@@sidekickz2180 I was looking over reviews for the SAS. I plan to rent one/see if one is available to rent at the range I go to so I can check it out. It looks interesting and I know my wife might like it more than what she is currently looking at as well.
I’m getting 48 mos and if I get any of the shield arms they each have to go through a 650 round test ( 500 fmj 150 carry ammo) before I’ll carry them over stock mags.
Glock needs to step their game up a bit. If Sig and Springfield can fit 10+ rounds in a double stack magazine to insert into a sub-compact, Glock can too. Single stack polymer frame handguns are inferior at this point. For their sub-compacts they need to transition from plastic mags to aluminum, allowing for thinner mag walls to hold higher round count, then also come stock a mag release that is durable for aluminum mags. I understand glocks are the grand daddy of the polymer striker fire pistols, but other companies are presenting better stock features. Glock needs to do away with all of the plastic parts. Sights, guide rod, magazines, mag release, est... Start stocking fiber optic and tritium sight options, extended mag and slide releases, steel guide rod and possibly aluminium magazines. These simple upgrades to stock features shouldn't upset the after market support to customize your very own ford f150. "I have spoken."
exactly they should have the options.. its insane, first off they overcharge for what they do sell, so they could add some simple things like night sights, suppressor sights, fiber optics, optics ready cuts with plates etc, extended mag/slide release and a stipple job probably by laser. flat face trigger options etc..
I have a glock 48 mos. I bought the romeo zero for it as well. I had to file down the screws a little bit since they were too long for the slide. I just ordered the ar15 shield arms mag with the the metal mag release. I'm pretty stoked about it. I'll update this comment once I get it and try it out. Hopefully everything will work fine.
Any reason you can think of that James Yaeger says the mags suck, with numerous samples in his classes apparently 'unable to complete the classes without numerous malfunctions /stoppages', according to him?
@@HB-kp6rl Have your buddy contact Shield Arms; they had some early batches with issues and will send him their +10% mag springs which will resolve the isdues
But what about a full size custom all steel 1911 with a rail mounted x300 and rmr with 3 spare mags in a $200 dollar kydex holster? It's great for year round EDC - even when it's 112 degrees outside. Honestly pretty lightweight at 6 lb for the whole setup.
The 365 is a winner until you start having major QC issues and rust. Every single metal part of every generation of 365 I’ve owned has degraded in some way. Whether it be rust, discoloring, a bad coating job, etc, I have always found issues with my SIG’s. If you need something close to the size of a p365xl try a Glock 43x MOS. If you can get away with a little extra barrel I’d suggest the Glock 48 MOS over the 43x.
To answer your question on why someone would get the 43x over a 48, I personally think the 48 is ugly with that extension on the end past the frame. The 43x on the other hand is so beautiful in my opinion and I personally like subcompacts. And the shield arms mags just change the game for me. Truly amazing.
i had a 43x and loved it, got it after carrying a 43 but wanted what the 43x became, waiting to find a mos, agree the 48 is ugly unless you get the front part cut like they do the 34. convince me why 48 over 43x
I used to carry the P365 XL. However, when Glock came out with the 43X MOS, I felt that that solved a few of the disadvantages of going with the Glock (rail, red dot, etc). Now, when paired with the shield arms mags, the 43X is my favorite!
@@ramonfoster1224 Depends on where you carry on your person; body type, etc. If you're running a rmr type dot sight radius isn't a thing anymore. So I think it's just personal preference. Having said all that, I chose the 48 mos with a holosun 407k as my slim/summer carry.
Rethinking the Shield Arms mag. I usually carry a single spare mag. I started my EDC life carrying 2 and realizing that was "overkill" and not convenient with my clothes and where I work. Then I started to carry a G19 with a spare mag that has a +2 extension on a G17 mag. That makes it 19 rounds in my spare and I don't like grip sleeves anyway. But for a G48 with a spare being basically a slim G19, 15 in the gun and a spare 20 is almost exactly like my G19 EDC but now the gun is slimmer and easier to carry.
i own both... really just up to the shooter id say. I was always under the impression that i shot glocks better because that is all i shot... but sig has grown on me.
The difference between EDCing a Glock 48 MOS vs a Glock 19 MOS doesn't sound like it'd be much different or noticeable.. but I have carried a Glock 19 with TLR7 and 507c for years, just traded for a Glock 48 MOS with 407k and TLR7sub...and it's a very noticeable difference. And no downside as it's the same capacity with S15 gen 3 mags.
And now you have the 48 MOS Models, so a red dot can be added. Doing stippling, a new trigger, and a new set of sights probably STILL put you below what you will pay for the Sig.
If the shield arms mag was aluminum like you said there would be no corrosion issues so if it’s steel there would be corrosion issues but not if it’s aluminum
Glock was my everyday. One day Glock will hear a loud "pop" ... That will be the sound of their head coming out of their ass. Sig keeps it real. The XL rocks!
1911 Syndicate it doesn’t work they only have a notch for the mag to catch on the right side so the mag release on works if on the left side of the firearm
Casually pulls out Staccato C2 Duo, meh, hahaha. Nah, but in all seriousness it's definitely not a battle with the micro 9's; I'll give it to Sig on that one too.
Ole James Yeager did a rant video the other day saying that the Shield mags suck. I can't form an opinion as I've never used them. But we all know James, don't we 😎
Joe Sapienza I’ve had mine for a few months, took a class and many range trips and haven’t had an issue with mine. Yes we all know Yeager but he isn’t the gospel.
@@mdd1963 ... I agree. Yeager has a tendency to spout off without anything to back up his babbling until he's pushed into a corner, then something usually comes to mind.
I politely disagree. The Glock is the winner for me. Sig does win with the red dot and the out of the box go shoot and carry. However with the sights and the Shield Arms magazine and catch the Glock wins. The grip will be shorter with the G48 than a XL with a 15 rd mag. The standard XL grip and mag I can not drop the mag due to the grip being short the mag will not drop free. The G48 is easier and less expensive to suppress. I have a video on shooting the G48 suppressed and it is a great host for your 9mm can.
@@1911syndicate With the G48 being a 19S it can preform all of the same duties as a 19 with the Shield Arms 15 or 20rd mags. It can be your "Go To War", "Zombie" or other "Prepper Fiction" gun. It can also be your suppressor host or your duty gun with no issues. I think these reasons are another reason why it beats the 365XL.
Respectfully, I think you picking the 48 over the 43X with MOS and rail was why the XL was such a massive winner. Although, I think the XL will still be the winner out of the box (43X doesn't have stippling or 15 round mags. I think you can get the 43X with night sights too, but I still think the XL is better), the 43X MOS is a much better competitor against the XL. Now, was the 43X MOS available when you did this review? Maybe you need to do a short 5 minute video if that changes your mind. Thanks for great content!
This is a channel that causes me pause. I really enjoy the self deprecating humor at times and the interaction between the other Real estate agents. I do not however give the channel any credit for professional acumen regarding shooting or evaluating firearms. Its a fun watch at best. .... 'Run.... forrest , run !!!!!!!'
Here's my 2 cents - I own G43x(9mm) , G45(9mm) , G26 GEN 5(9mm) , G29 GEN 4(10mm) and G30 GEN 4 (45ACP) and all of them ROCK and KICK ASS. Ok don't get it twisted here the bottom line here is in a defense situation can you pick up a G43x or G48 and go to work to resolve a threat situation to protect you and maybe your family and friends 🇺🇸 👍
