Thanks for this, OP. Was building my first Glock and when I saw the plastic mag release and then just a long, thin metal rod I really was scratching my head. This broke it down easily and I got my first one installed in 30 seconds!!

This is by the far the best video I've seen for swapping the mag release. One tool needed, don't have to actually remove the pin (thank you for calling it a pin and not a spring). Clear and precise video- thank you!!

This is hands down the best and clearest video out there on how to replace your Glock mag release.

Finally a man who is NOT in love with the sound of his voice. He gives you the info fast and precisely. I had to use a L shaped pick tool because the screwdriver just didn’t work for me. I think the gentleman practiced (well that’s professional) so he could do it easy. Great video thank you. PS with the L shaped pick I was able to keep the tool holding the bar away and was able to put in my new metal release lever without a hitch.

This is still a great video after all these years. I keep coming back to this video from time to time, each time I acquire a new Glock. Thanks!! 👍😎

Thank you got mine done almost as quick as you with a little innovation.. I used a dental pick for reinstallin to pull back the metal piece a little bit to help get it in and that worked much better for me than the method shown but great vid..

Thank you for the clear video! I saw this twice today and was able to replace the Glock Exgtended Magazine catch without a problem. My only observation is that one might want to use a longer screwdriver to move the spring/pin, for the small screwdriver shown on the video didn't work for me. With the longer screwdrive you have better lever to move the pin.

Interestingly enough since my glock 36 has a thinner frame the magazine release automatically felt extended, I never thought about this upgrade until I just picked up my glock 19 today. It really is hard to hit that release without changing my entire grip, I couldn't quick reload right now with that weapon to save my life. Thanks for this. Just ordered an extended magazine release to be delivered tomorrow.

Thanks for the video. Helped a lot. I didn't have small screwdrivers narrow enough so I used punches. Light source near the bottom of the magwell helped even in a brightly lit room.

Excellent tutorial! Installation was a breeze. It did take me a bit longer because I found this was a good opportunity to run a couple of Q-tips through there and get some cleaning done.

perfect video, too easy. For those of you who have not already bought the part... i found an entire extra parts kit from Midway. It was $49, came with extended mag release AND improved slide release, plus stock spares for the trigger and every other "lower" part, spring, etc so you have spares of everything that could realistically break. In my case this was for a Glock 17 Gen 3 but i assume they have the same kit for every single glock and Midway has a super smart interface that allows you to easily select the correct kit.

Thanks for the video. I think the 43x may be slightly more difficult. No way that little screwdriver would work. I heated the end of an old ice pick and bent the tip into a 90 then filed the top flat. It plucked that spring out in 2 seconds, installed easy too. Thanks again for showing how it comes out.

Great video!! - If you want 2 tiny "hacks". 1 - It is SUPER simply if you have a hooked pick like tool. 2 - I used a little sandpaper to sand the sharp corners of the Mag Release button. 10x more comfortable than the pointy edges that it comes with from the factory. The $5 upgrade makes my Glock 17 so much easily to control as far as the mag release goes. Doing the extended slide release stop next.

Nice video! The only thing I would suggest, is pull the spring out of the frame and then re-insert it after you install the new mag release. Much less of a fight.

OK excellent video. Suggestion for us old dudes, use a big screwdriver. And it takes a flick, or twist of the wrist to get the spring back in. Extended mag release works absolutly great!! Thanks.

Thanks I just swapped out the mag release for an extended mag release. In a gen 3 g17 I got a couple years ago from aim surplus. I was wondering if I should have changed out the magazine relese spring as well. Seem to work fine now. Mags are flying out of that 17.

OooRah! Nice to see one use a flat head screwdriver. Other videos recommend getting pick tools. Camera lighting helps a lot.
