Highly knowledgeable man. Definitely helped fuel my passion for Glock and Beretta at an early age. He doesn't do much with the latter but kinda cause of him I got it in me to 100% disassemble and reassemble them and learn to do it right.
@@minarchisttrucker2775 eh, maybe, but when I closed my eyes I heard Mike Rowe esque tones & tempo. Not very familiar w James woods but I grew up w dirty jobs & the animal planet shows he narrated & loved them both, not to mention he's one hell of a man & a patriot to the core. 🇺🇸
Lenny...I remember buying your vhs instructional videos back in the 90's. You still got it man! Looks like you are still doing what you love to do. Great stuff and congrats on your longevity and success!
the ejector is in the same spot in relation to barrel centerline on the 9 or 40 cal. the 9 and 40 both use small pistol primers, so if the ejector could hit the primer on the 40 it could also hit on the 9.
Lenny, if you haven't already, you should film some safety videos to be used in classes. You have the perfect voice for it and you explain everything you're doing so well. As someone who will potentially be teaching classes for law enforcement next year (if everything goes according to plan), I would put more trust in you covering everything important than I would in myself.
One of the best instructors I've learned information from said a very beneficial statement at the beginning of his first class (a state-certified PPO program if it matters): No one person knows absolutely everything we're about to talk about; I can learn something from everyone in the room and vice versa. That said, when I go to an instructor for certification, the last thing I want to hear is the instructor having doubts about his abilities. I say this to you with respect mind you, but knowledge is an accumulation of time and effort. In your case, a LEO can and probably will reference your class when he/she has to testify about their actions at some point, and that has some potentially severe repercussions for all involved. If you're having doubts when teaching others how and what to do-especially in a legally binding manner-perhaps a moment of reflection is in order.
When it comes to legality, I have no doubts. My doubts are more about how to defend oneself when legally able to and a comprehensive safety talk. I've taken a few defensive/combative handgun courses and there always seems to be some disagreement between instructors, although that is bound to happen and isn't something that can really be helped. What I think Lenny would be perfect for is a firearms safety course for rookie LEOs who have little firearms experience. That being said, honestly anyone who sees this and can come up with a list of everything that would need to be discussed could help. (Also, I just really like Lenny's voice and would like to have his expertise to back me up in any class I teach)
000Bob000jones000 I can't argue with a Lenny-based video program. Beyond the logistics of that and before I get to my recommendations, what state and capacity are you teaching these perspective courses? (Academy or other?) In Texas, beyond the base academy if you are hired by an agency, there are TCLEOSE-certified institutions that one can attend similar to EMT certifications where they teach the gamut from all the bookwork to range time; essentially everything to be an LEO with certificate.
I'd be teaching in Illinois, post-academy (probably immediately post-academy). I'm currently working on USAS and NRA certifications and plan to be teaching courses for LEOs who want to better their shooting abilities.
Great Video Presentation! After watching several of your video presentations, I have become a real fan of the GlockStore. The manner in which you present each video is very professional, yet I also feel your personal passion for providing valuable information and instruction to your viewers. Thank you for your service to us newbie Glock owners and keep up the great job.
Explaining that the lower of a Glock is considered a gun is quite helpful, the fact that my Gen 2 G19 can benefit from an update to Gen 3 via a Polymer 80 conversion is fantastic!
Legend has it, Lenny once arm wrestled Gaston Glock. The extreme strength of both competitors caused the air between their palms to compress into a black hole. That black hole now sits in the center of the Milky Way galaxy.
Only time you would have a live round cycling backwards towards the ejector is if you unload the gun manually which would not render enough momentum to ignite a primer, i don't see any way a live 40.sw round could be set of out of battery by a 17 frame. However it might case some ejection issues, i can't comment on that, but it will not fire out of battery. Just a comment on the info given at 9:45.
Primer is located in the exact same position on a 40 as it is a 9mm both use small pistol located in the center on the round. If you're worried about the ejector hitting the primer on a 40....you should worry about it hitting the primer on a 9mm to.
I´m from Austria and here the lower is just a part and you can buy it without register. Only pressurized parts need to be registered. So if you use a match barrel, you register it as accessory. And you can register two accessories for each gun. A complete upper is also considered one accessory.
Answered my question in seconds! So the (gen 3)G17 slide will function on a G22 slide! Basically do not care about anything else (suspicion confirmed) but I'll let the rest of the video play just for your run time >=] Edit: also dropping a like my guy! Thank you for three great video.
In South Africa the barrel is registered as it is the part that can be identified via ballistics testing. When replacing a barrel on a hunting rifle a full new license is required. All other parts can be exchanged without permission or paperwork. Would have loved to swap out parts on the G19 but it is near impossible with the differences in regulations.
You need to make a GS frame for the Glock 20 and 21 please. Don’t forget about us 10mm and 45cal guys. 9mm may be good for plinking or conceal/ carry, but I prefer some serious stopping power for home defense.
Lenny, we've been watching you for a long time, now. We love your store(s) and all its offerings. And the info and experience you have to share and your enthusiasm in doing so. We see your passion for the sport as genuine and that you're not just "out for a buck." I'm sure that's been the driving force behind your success. I've found this presentation about frames and their relationship to/with each other to be very helpful and, especially so to those who might not be at the same level as some others in the Glock "world." Glock doesn't exactly make it easy, with all of the various model numbers and how they interchange. This simplifies things, a lot. But... In the same respect for those people just figuring it all out, there's something I think needs calling out. To say the "preferred method" (indicating there may be other differences involved) of converting the 17 to a 22 is to replace the *entire* trigger housing just to facilitate exchanging the shell ejector, makes no sense. Just dollars, for whomever sells the housing. Dollars which don't *need* to be spent and especially in the face of the cost of a new slide and barrel, plus "X" no. of magazines. Every dollar counts for a lot of people in light of this "fiscal fiasco" we're all being forced to navigate right now. 😀 If there's some valid reason, some other difference between the housing assys of which I'm not aware then, please... Someone let me know and I'll graciously acquiesce. 😀 To the best of my knowledge the only difference *is* the ejector, itself. Also, you should do the subject justice by giving all of the info since you're currently in the middle of disseminating information about just that... If the housing is in the frame, yes. A short, needle nose plier works fine. Securely grasp/support the frame and pull firmly. The other, "preferred method," should the housing already be out of the frame, is to use a small punch and simply push the ejector out from the rear and install the desired ejector. Either way, it's only a 30 sec. swap and there's no need to pay for a whole new housing. 😉 If it seems like I'm "over reacting," apologies. I'm just trying to give you credit when due (which is 98.5% of the time) and call BS when necessary. We still love ya in this house, Buddy.
@@prestont434 Sir... I'm afraid that ou're the winner of today's "This is unbelievable, I can't take it anymore" response to these types of response... Which has been building for a while. May I direct you to an English 101 primer and Websters "New world dictionary, unabridged?? My comment was articulate, well punctuated and of proper structure and grammar. I know that's somewhat confusing to a lot of today's highschool (and college) "graduates." Mind you, that's not a personal attack, by any means, I don't know your personal scholastic background but, "what?" as a response to a viable and comprehensible comment *does* tend to raise an eyebrow. I admit, the ability to and act of being thorough in my speech and communication does frequently get me labeled as [a] "racist" (though that's not the correct usage of the word, "bigot" would be much more appropriate), however one has anything to do with the other, I've no idea or that I'm trying to somehow "belittle" people, simply by speaking or writing correctly and comprehensively but, I'm just using the vocabulary and communication skills I was tought in grade/high school (which I actually attended, what was I thinking...) and it's application thereof to convey my thoughts, opinions and questions in an understandable presentation. Seems that's a waste of time these days, a lone voice on a deserted island in a vast ocean. Now then... Am I being sarcastic? Of course, obviously so. But, the types of responses I get for actually using more than the apparently acceptable "144 characters" to communicate is astounding... And, a sad commentary on today's outlook on the ability of people to effectively communicate with one another, which is a huge cause in today's societal breakdown. If people held a book instead of a phone for the same amount of hours in a day, this world would be a *much* better place. But, I digress... To answer your very "succinctly put" question, aside from a sincere acknowledgement of the services that Lenny McGill provides to the Glock owners/shooters community, I called out the fact that "there's more than one way to skin a cat..." And they're not all the expensive way. You don't need to replace the whole trigger housing just to replace the extractor. Hope that clarifies things for you. (In other words, "ask a silly question, get a silly answer"). 😉
Just a dumb question. Can i have a glock 17 and just one 34 slide to switch between them? keep the 17 slide daily and use the 34 slide for competitions?
I have a trigger kit for .357sig on my G26 installed, which includes .357sig (or .40S&W) ejector, of course... So far, I think it can affect on angle at which spent case will be ejected from the pistol, that's all it may affect. I don't think it can engage a primer in any way, it is just physically impossible...
thank you for the videos Magill they were very very helpful. I'm new to the glock and by watching you're videos they have helped me tremendously on knowing my glock 17 Gen 4 way way better.!!!!
Good video as always. I'm not a Glock guy. However, I do own a G 22. I'm an instructor & a lot of my students shoot Glocks & have questions. Your videos contain helpful information
We need a video specifically on building a g26 p80. The g26 is extremely difficult to get to work reliably. 16 lb spring and the slide won't go all the way back. 14 lb spring and the slide won't go all the way forward.
Does anyone know what would happen if you put a smaller slide on the frame. Like let’s say a 19x slide on a 17 frame. Would it function and would it cause any issues?
What about the 45 GAP guns? Is the 37 the same frame as a 17 or 22? I know that the 37 slide is wider, at least it is on the gen 3 37 that I own. But I have read that the frame is the same.
You can turn the 37 into a .40 with a ati interchangeable barrel chambered in .40 & use the all Glock .40 magazines because the g37 shares the same Dimensions as the 17,22,31
How do you do it on a Glock 19 gen5 with ONLY the spring out? I did it on accident(Safely cleaning and looking at the mechanics. The tiny 2 spots to be held down... slide back a tad. Then slide off the front. release buttons(worst thing about Glocks I have). They rest ON THE SPRING. Leaving the chamber stuck and useless lol. No worky on easy mode, tried your stuff I'll try the HARDER one. This could be could though. Have some ones weapon and wanna secure it safe. Slide release. Throw out the spring. Even if a bullet maybe one bullet inaccurate cause you now have a free floating chamber. NVM got it. Set it up fucked up again. Forgot it lol. It requires you to get the barrel out VERY far... There's a baby lock I'm missing. Damn rubrics cube.
So, G22 is a full size that uses .40 ejector on a G17 frame. Simply just switching to 9mm ejector it can turn into a G17. Glocks are the best hands down. I remember when I was a kid and seen a glock for1st time, and as a kid we love anything plastic because we play with plastic toy guns. I remember being so fascinated thinking there's a toy gun that can shoot LOL😁 Now, I have a question 7 years late. What is the difference between gen 3 and 4 G17 frame? I hear starting 4 it was changed unlike gen 1-3 which made these guns even more customizable. 1 more question. When did the frame being considered a gun start? before glock introduced the poly frame or after? or has this just been the law since beginning? Thanks guys!
Upper as the gun makes more sense to me as it could be rigged up to be a single shot. The lower alone is incapable of firing a bullet but the upper could fire a bullet without the lower.
People think CA is the most anti-gun state. People always fail to mention NY and the horrible attached NYC. I was actually able to walk into a gun shop in CA and buy a pistol. That's unheard of in NYC where I'm from.
I really wish someone would come out with a frame that was contoured similar to a Glock 26 using a Glock 19 magazine and X-Grip. When I swap the triggers out of my G26 and G19, I pull the trigger well more consistently in the Glock 26 (and there is about a pound difference between the two). I attribute this to the hump, and I really think Glock was on to something with their 26th patent.
Do not own a Gen 5 But a Ge2-3--4 Clock 35-23-27-Can easily become a 9mm with a Conversion Barrell the 40's all you need is 9mm mag and conversion barrel will Shoot 40 cal 9mm and 357 sig the 357 sig will fit in a 40 mag and 40 mags and 9mm mags One Gin will shoot Three calibers ? I shot a Glock 36 with a 9mm conversion barrel for years I bought every weight guide Rod Spring and was shooting 88 gr and smaller with 10 lb spring You can Fine Tune any round ?
I have Glock 17 gen 5 and am considering purchasing a Glock 45 gen 5 can I use the same magazines for both pistols, my concern is that I am only allowed to process 10 - round magazines when I live, so this will work or no
Leads to my question...I have a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion bbl...should I have a 9mm extractor, 9mm recoil spring and change my trigger housing...have there been any reports of prematue ignition of 9mm rounds with a .40 cal extractor??? I have a G35...
Mohammed Cohen I would Recommend setting the gun up extractor and ejector as a 9 mm.It might be fun to play with but I wouldn’t put my life on the line without proper 9 mm parts.
Yout cleared up a ton of questions I had! Thank you so much!!! (liked/subscribed (also,at first glance kind of look like Tim Allen on steroids 😁👍🏻 Thanks again!
So I got a question I’m trying to take a Glock 23 40 cal And use a Glock 45 9mm frame By switching the slides what do I need to get in order for that to work properly
I recently acquired a PF940 From a woman whose husband had passed away before he had a chance to assemble it. In the kit was the Jig and the 5/64th Milling Bit so that the rear rail guides can be put in. The kit didn't have the End Mill bit. There was also no instruction sheet or parts list for the rest of the parts for the lower receiver or what caliber it is. Does the PF 940 on the cover of the box mean that it can be either a 9mm or 40 cal. Jerry Dday
I found a Glock 17 Gen 2 for $278. It looks in great shape I’m just thinking there is something wrong with it at my local pawnshop? What’s the recall I heard about and did I miss out on a great deal ??
Lenney: This is another of your great vids. I have actually paid money for your vids. Did not have RU-vid! I wish you would have said something about the difference between glock (17) 2pin and newer 3 pin. Is the slide the same between 2pin and 3pin?": I have an older 2pin 17 and was wondering about building apoly 80% and using the older slide?
Same "rules" for Canada. The lower is the gun & upper is a part. Interestingly Canada has almost exactly 1/10 your population but we have the 2nd highest number of guns in private hands on the planet after our brothers to the south of us.....& even more ridiculously stupid "gun laws" but still better than California across our country & we can have our guns whole/ complete in multiples with dozens of magazines sent DIRECTLY to our front door from a dealer, however if we are conducting a "private sale" it must go through a licensed dealer before the new owner can take possession 🙄... Ammunition however must be shipped separately from our firearm purchases but again, if you want to buy 10,000rds of whatever in Canadastan it gets shipped right to your door if you are willing to pay the freight.
Good info on how all these parts interchange! I have been considering a spectre build myself, and now I know all about parts interchange!! That being said, isnt the Spectre a Gen 3 style frame?
noob question, but can you sell a non-roster gun in California by sending it to the FFL and the buyer picking it up after its process or would it only be a gen 3 Glock in California?
Quick question. I currently use the .40 to 9mm barrel from your site on my glock 27 with glock 26 mag. But happen to come across a 26 frame. Can I use the glock 27 upper with your .40 to 9mm barrel on a glock 26 frame.
Lenny -- I live in san Diego. My hand likes the full frame grip on the 17... and my eye likes the 4.01" barrel of the 19. Can I put this combination together, without any problem?
I have a question since I’m just now seeing this and it’s 2022. Can you take a Glock 19 gen 3 upper, and put that in a Glock 17 gen 3 frame? Basically turning it into a Glock 45?
