Absolutely you need an advocate for you when you go to the hospital these days. Who is going to speak for you if you’re having issues and can’t communicate well? When my husband had 2 strokes, I never left his side for 7 days unless family was there to relieve me and sit with him while I went home to feed the dog and take a shower. Nope. This was fall of 2018 long before all the craziness since 2020.

One's income has a lot to do if they can be stuck or get out of a bad situation. We need a society where people are valued because they are human beings and not on their financial worth.

If people share a place to live and they are getting benefits such as SSI, SNAP, Medicaid and others, those benefits will be cut. Even if they are not family. Just sharing expenses. I think that is why people do not want to share housing. So instead of getting ahead you stay the same or worse.

However, i totally agree with you about the hospital situations. They are scary to go to because of the nurses and doctors who dont pay attention to what they are doing, or because of the hateful attitudes of people who dont want to do anything more than they absolutely have to do.

I wonder if those at the hospital knew Lindy lived in a van thinking she was homeless so could care less about the quality of the care they gave her?

When did national discourse on politics become caustic? What about when being polite and compassionate become weakness? The T guy brought a nastiness level never seen before, even in the South where I live. For chrissakes, we were known for southern hospitality and now? That T guy has wrecked decent society. Enough said.

Every family has a story of being mistreated or injured or worse in the hospital. The frustrating thing is they never seem to be held accountable.

One thing people can do to change the hate is to stop listening to the media! It doesn't matter which side you are on, they each say the same thing about each other. I know a van life creator whose daughter no longer talks to her because of who she votes for. That is terrible!!

I've been in Seattle for 15 years now and depression is a big problem! I escape to Arizona for as long as I can in the winter. I don't try to change peoples views and encourage them to do the same. There are always some things we agree on I try to steer in that direction.

Thank you so much for always sharing very important information. It is so frustrating when we are told that our social security amount is too high to qualify for a low income apartment and then other living facilities are too expensive.🤔 😒 God help us.🙏

AARP used to be a strong advocate for seniors but not as much anymore. They haven't brought the senior affordable housing issues to Congress.

My tax lady says I dont have to file taxes because my income is so low with my social security, but I only make a little over the limit that I don't qualify for food stamps or medicaid (Missouri).

There is an elderly tax credit in the form of a larger standard deduction on our tax return for all seniors, and an additional credit for seniors below a certain income. Its just not enough to make a difference.
