Opponent had 96.6% accuracy and has been banned for cheating. Might be time to start again Simon, you've had 5 defeats, four against cheaters and one where you were nattering away and didn't realise your time was so low. Maybe have a more incognito name next time too lol

yeah. Game was still instructive. Ginger missed a timely c4 several times . then his position was quickly losing. Also wrong rook on b1.

no real evidence previous guy was cheating though. 86% accuracy and Simon lost initiative after opponent's move which stockfish thinks is a mistake.

I am a 2000 player and it felt like cheating, it just sucks so much, why would you cheat? what's the point? you cheated against gm and won, so what? you did not win, engine won that game. it's pathetic

It's still instructive to watch Simon play against the computer. But I think where we've ended up with this ridiculous requirement to not accuse the opponent of cheating even when it's obvious just doesn't work.

Obviously the opponent was cheating. The account was only opened 19 days ago and all their games have an accuracy of at least 90%. It looks like they use Komodo Dragon which suggests 20... Be2 and 23... Rb5 - both moves are not in the top three suggestions from Stockfish 15.1. Looks like the account has been banned due to "Fair Play Violation"

simon, early on what about instead of qd3 u play c4,pxp, then your knight on f3 moves into e5 hitting the pawns on c4 and c6? it looked interesting.

Such a shame there are so many cheats (cheaters? cheetahs? 🐆). It’s obviously human nature and too tempting for some but I’m particularly surprised at how many cheats streamers encounter on their speed runs. I don’t play so much but my son plays literally hundreds of blitz and rapid games at a similar level (more 17/18/1900 and the lichess equivalent 2000/21/2200) and I vaguely recall literally once maybe two years ago he got a rating refund for facing a cheat. Is he just really lucky to avoid them or is there something else in play?

Big streamers have a higher prominence so it might be that the site admins are more fastidious about checking games that are reported as suspicious. Unfortunately, due to the sheer numbers, that's not possible for us mortals.

Yes, that was the best move. Taking c5 loses. If dxc5 is played you have to sacrifice the night after ...e5 for any hope. I analyzed the game

Again a cheater. That's the reason for "thinking" in obvious moves. It is really annoying to play against such species. IMHO a real problem in online chess. Thx @GingerGM. I always enjoy your Speed Runs!

not that it would have mattered (opponent being a cheater after all), but why not c4 at move 14? I saw it and was wondering if I was missing something but it was the top engine move. Did you consider it?

Move that lost the game was taking C5 with your D pawn. Although he was cheating, you should have seen pawn to C4 as you were correctly saying that you cant let him play C4, it seems you didn't consider the pawn push at all - knight defends the rook fork. I think you surely would have seen that over the board but sometimes talking while playing is very distracting.

@@YCLP Agreed, but I have watched GingerGM for 5 years now and he sees that move 9/10 times. He explained himself that he couldn't allow his opponent to play C4. In fact the only line with any chances in the line Simon played is to sacrifice the night.

I've done a little bit of analysis of speedruns and they run into cheaters at a rate of about 4% which is about 20x higher than chesscom official numbers

Many reasons. Mostly this site wants to lie to everyones face and tell us cheating isnt as out of control as it is. Danny is a fkin little snake liar. Its far worse than we see here. We have to assume some of them are smart and dont cheat when they see GmSpeedRun. I have all but stopped playing. No point online.

Simon please play 5 minute games with increment if need be. The portion of cheaters in the rapid rating area you are in is absurdly high, that's why no GMs do rapid speed runs. I'm constantly getting rating refunded in rapid games because ever second player is cheating

Simon, I'm certain there must be a way for opponents moves to be analysed by chess AI in real time to spot cheats as the game is being played. If cheats were spotted after they made 4 or 5 computer moves, they would be banned immediately and lose the game. This would stop people cheating.
