'GMA' surprises choir teacher in Texas 

This is beautiful. As a Pentatonix fan we've all heard about the wonder that is Mama O so it's wonderful to see this celebration! A good teacher can make all the difference in the world!

It’s so gratifying and beautiful to see someone being recognized for her in invaluable positive impact on people, particularly teens. She definitely wasn’t in it for any monetary gains! World take note- this person is a real hero and role model.

It was an editorial error to refer to Kay as "Miss" because she's been a widow since 1996. A lovely person from a solid family in Mississippi, I have the pleasure of having known her since we were very young. Her late husband Dale was a talented musician, also an organist and choral conductor, and a distant cousin of mine. Kay has been awarded many honors during her career, but this one on national television was extra special and well-deserved.

A good teacher can change lives for the better. Congratulations, Miss Kay Owens.

I was in her choir class my freshman, sophomore, junior year (2013-2015) she was one of the greatest teachers ever. She always wanted the best out of us. It was tough love, but she always as there for us when we were down. Thank you for everything Ms. Owens!
