The DA wants 12 of 28 positions. As the second largest party in the GNU, it makes sense that they get at least 10 and anc 13, and te rest go to the smaller parties. You cannot say DA should have 5 out of 28 and the other seats go to other parties which are just ANC proxies. We have seen how aljamah waa given a mayoral position in Johannesburg with just one seat. Johannesburg is dysfunctional and gwamanda and the anc contues with corruption.
@@shafiyaalgiquadra1105 , let's speak as South Africans, not as factions in South Africa. As a neutral South African, it makes sense that the DA get at least no less than 10 seats. That is if we are to have a government different from what we always have. South Africans voted for coalition because they want a dilution of ANC corruption and incompetence, so, it only make sense that the ANC be diluted in significant way that as voters voted.
No party won majority 50+ 1, so they need each other. ANC have not majority, but have numbers to lead this GNU. Somebody must lead, no matter what people say. Politics are dirty.
only the president has the ultimate power to appoint his cabinet and has a right to reinstate everyone from the previous administration and still function as GNU
When will politicians and union leaders acknowledge that the no1 cause of unemployment in this country is the import of goods. Factories close doors as they can not compete with import prices
Im surprised by the notion that some pple argue that the DA is out of line by ther determinednes to get their fair share of representation in the GNU, its not difficult mathematics, they are not there to ensure the ANC a false claim/cling to power. The ANC and everybody else should call for their fair share in GNU. What nonsense and arrogance is this of the ANC insisting they should keep all 1st tier Ministries. A serious case of false entitlement to be addressed hard and unfazed.
You will defend the DA cos they are representing you. Don't impose white liberalism on us. The people will rise. And it won't be nice for all of us when that time comes. The best way to stop that from happening is to stop interfering in matters that have to do with Africans. Africans will never hurt white people. We not animals. We can governmen ourselves.
Problem with the DA is that they are wolves in sheep’s clothing they constantly point fingers at other parties accusing them of wanting positions yet here they are doing the same thing they blame and accuse other parties of giving votes to the anc but here they are in bed with the very enemy they so vigorously wanted to uproot If you voted for the Da you essentially are the reason the anc remains in power and the DA won’t even hold Rama accountable for phala because they signed “ an ageement” with them so looks like the DA fooled us all doesn’t it You probably so ashamed but your pride won’t let you humble yourself and admit you’ve been conned
The ANC wants to retain all the crucial ministries and we are in trouble because they have messed up but they want to continue down the same road which has brought us to where we are today
One of the reasons many problems couldn't be solved by the DA in the Western Cape in the past, is because those National Ministries/Departments were useless. If the DA could implement its own services independent of National government it could have fixed a lot more! Now that the DA can feature Nationally, I say give them the opportunity. Their track record speaks for itself where successes are concerned.
The DA make up a THIRD of the size of the Gnu partners. Why is it bad for them to be asking for a third of the positions? ANC wanting there cake at eat it. Only offering 5 out of 28 spots is an insult. These small parties with 0.5 to 1 % should NOT be given a minister spot. And if the Anc wants to do that, it should come from there end.
Just say that you cannot count! That would ve true if it was just the DA and ANC. ANC is doing some balancing with smaller parties but the ship has sailed
Totally agree! ANC just wants to mantain "status quo" while taking advantage of the 87 DA seats in parlament! What's the point of those with 1% get a seat in Government? It's just to dilute the DA position! DA should not accept that nonsense!!!
People seem to be oblivious to who the DA is and what they want. Everything they want fits well with their agenda both nationally and internationally. This is a union which simply fails before it even starts.
Am just wondering if it was the EFF that was making these kind of demands if they were still going to get the same tone from this media. Because it is the DA that is now making these demands all of a sudden they are now reasonable and understandable. The imbalanced reporting of the media. It's no wonder they are loosing viewership.
Thing is EFF never made ridiculous demands for positions, it is only an outlier when it comes to policy and that's the hill it's willing to die on, transformative policy making.
How does a party that has the 3rd of the vote asking for a 3rd of the positions not make sense to the rest of the people? They deserve at least 9 of the posts.
If the DA is really offered 5 only ministerial posts, they should just pull out and remain the opposition…..if the DA is not able to influence or curb the cadres corruption train, they may as well leave….surely a party that received less than 1% votes should not get a cabinet or deputy position….
As the DA we do not intend in the least to fix public healthcare as that would impact on private business so the portfolio would instead be as an albatross around our neck.
@@tizojiyane7350 the way we get it right is to shortchange the health budget so there are fewer nurses and longer lines, this encourages private growth and develops a surplus to be used to aid businesses in times of need. We do not want to take responsibility for making public health worse, we should rather influence policy.
The electorate gave this government a clear mandate. Representation in cabinet should be proportional to the vote. Anything else would be undermining the people's will.
@@thomasbisschoff7136but those considerations are not catered for in the constitution, it does not stipulate "the President, in the case of being elected by a multiplicity of parties shall therefore endeavour to consider the circumstances of being voted in by a multiplicity"
We need the DA in the positions where ANC, EFF and the history of MK created chaos through tgeir corruption. We urgently need stoppers to prevent money flowing into the pockets of tsotsis. GNU members should grow up and realise that they are working for the people and should not expect red carpets to be rolled out for them. Nothing special or holy about them to deserve blue light brigades charging through traffic. Back to basics, do your jobs!!
I read it as a negotiating gambit on the part of Zille ...ask for 100 but be ready to accept 40. For example DIRCO they would probably accept Naledi being re-appointed, but they will probably fight for Minerals & Energy (Gwede) and Trade (Patel of SACP), given the importance to the economy. Plus COGTA (municipalities) so that they can score points for the 2026 elections.
Can i ask.Is it necessary for DA to demand for position or they hqve to be chosen. Also on seats and position we do have efff and other parties do want positions also..Im not getting the whole point of this?
@@p-manwecho8395 But ANC got 40(only double DA) so if we are being fair, for every 2 ANC seats DA gets 1. You must understand that people voted to reduce ANC's power, so they cannot go around bullying everyone as if they are the MAJORITY anymore.
You talk like as if DA got the most votes, whereas your has been rejected by voters, this thing of white people enforcing their way by oppressing other tribes it's in their DNA. Now they want rule SA by force. I wish ANC can kick them out of GNU just for control
Before 2029 we will have at least 3 different president, this one, this one, very soon will be thrown out like Jonas and that's why he is begging DA for his atay
I do not see teamwork in this GNU..South Africa should shine not political parties who could not even get quarter of votes cast. I does seem like DA has another constituency, not people who voted for it..
The ANC has the majority of votes than any other party even if its 40% Nationally .Even in most Provinces it had outright majority except for Gauteng ,Kwa-Zulu and Western Cape.So the President is Ramaphosa and he has the prerogative to do a balancing act and form the cabinet that will work and not be at each others throats vying for positions. What is the DA trying to prove that they are better than everyone else, but the votes indicate differently not all people want to be under the yoke of people who don't believe in other people can do better given a chance ,even much better if it's a second chance .
The DA is being reasonable, ANC's 40% means 60% of the entire population didn't vote for them. However 22% voted for DA. So for every 1 ANC seat , DA has just over 2. How is that bullying when the voters have spoken?
There is no such a thing as 30 years of failure. Did you ever experience drinking water from a pond that smells donkey urine?😮Black man is very strong health wise . Even covid failed to kill millions of us as predicted. 😅😅😅😮😅😢 And millions of us has rebelled against covid injections to date and nothing happened to us and nothing will happen.
All of this is about self enrichtment, and the struggling homeless citizens are of no concern to any politician. Apartheid is something of the past, and nobody would ever would like back there ... Everyone born in SA should be welcome here .. Put the past behind and let the Country move forward . It is a total disgrace and I am sure some political reporters can be ashamed for engaging turmoil ..It a disgrace and embarrassment .
Zwadile you seem to be happy as these things unfold as they do. Political analysts like to be fence seating but are rarely against the state even if the state is grossly takind bad direction.
Guys I wanna ANC out too, but they still have far more votes than anybody else, twice as much as the DA! They'll be lucky to get half of these positions
If you are smart take what you are given and run with it and make a mark at the end people will recognise you . Don't be hasty to take the country back not yet the time
Analysts are really struggling to understand whats going on. The ANC cannit go ahead with other numerius small parties making only 50%. Look at Johannesburg.
Foreign Minister 🙄..🤔 they want to go represent South Africa in BRICS🤔...🤔how is that going to play out...how they are going to represent ANC foreign policies on israel -palestine issue, Russia-ukraine non-alignment policy 🤔🤔🤔....this is absurd.
Do you really think that these people just go out there and start expressing views and emotions 😂. It's just a job. DA is NOT against BRICS 😛. Their argument is, since ANC has 40%, they have 22%. Going by proportion even Steve Kekana can see that they are being more than fair. Even the voters don't want ANC Hogging all the positions, that's why they voted them out.
They knew however thought they will outsmart DA know they cried loud because ANC might lost big peace of cake now they want to involve us you all alone black people don't be fooled by ANC yes we are poor but not stupid
Gayton has always been honest about why he wants this or that position because he knows what every other politician knows is that you cannot effect change for the people who voted for you but meanwhile all political parties negotiate for positions even in local coalitions including the DA but the DA turns around and makes it an ugly thing for those parties that threaten them
The problem here is Ramaphosa how come he becomes a Billionaire in short space of time hope you know the answer now its payback time from him. The ANC NEC needs to replace him immediately before its too late, the history will judge the ANC harshly because of Ramaphosa so let get rid of him.
DA always claim to be believing in the constitution of our country. Isn't it the President's prerogative to appoint his cabinet? I think ANC should let them go and get the EFF over and form the government. We need to have government.
You think you going to get a free farm from Julius? 🤣🤣🤣 How do you think the radical communists policies of the EFF will fix SA? It will collapse the country! Even the ANC know that!
What about the fact that the anc DID NOT win the elections? Are they now supposed to get everything they want on top of the presidency and speaker positions??
Give Da Department of Health , Dep of Education, Department of Labour, Department of Infrastructure, Department of Food & Agriculture 😅😅😊😂😂 Ziyakhala , Department of Police , Department of Energy, Department of Transport... hahahahha Ziyakhala 😂😂😂😅
WHAT IS THE OTHER PARTY'S @ ANC DEMANDS??? DA WALK AWAY PLEASE ,EVERYBODY IS HAPPY WITH THE COUNTRY TODAY 😂😂 SO GIVE IT TO THEM, WHATCH RSA IN 2 MONTHS TIME, RSA DOWN THE DRAINS 🎉🎉@ THE MARKETS BEFORE FRIDAY 🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂
What is the purpose of the GNU if smaller parties don't get a minister spot. Why don't they form a coalition from the start between the DA and ANC. Clearly the DA interest is not the people of South Africa. Come the next election we will be smarter not to vote for Parties that put the people of South Africa last.
