One of the most iconic tags ever!! It was fun to record this in 2022! It has been almost 15 years since it was originally recorded by my quartet, 2006 International BHS Quartet Champions, Vocal Spectrum! Go The Distance was arranged by one of my favorite arrangers, Aaron Dale! This has to be one of the most requested songs we sing...and we still sing it on almost every show!

This brings back some PHENOMENAL memories! Vocal Spectrum came to UW - Oshkosh here in Wisconsin years ago, and even though you were either just getting over laryngitis/just beginning to get it, after the show when I wanted to sing this song with all of you, you agreed to do so. I filled in on the baritone and you still crushed the post and it meant the world to me that you four were not too tired/elite to perform this song with me and I wanted to thank you all for such kindness as it made my week. I will never forget that.

Thanks so much!! I’d suggest doing audio first for a while just to get used to it before doing videos too. Start with something more simple.. and then build up. One thing I work hard on is using my lead voice to give the other parts cues as to what the interpretation is. Hope that helps a bit. Hope to hear some of your A cappella recordings!!

@@TimWaurickMusic i know i'm 9 months late, but it was absolutely a compliment lol. when i say slightly painful i don't mean that metaphorically, i mean it literally - i was listening through headphones on max volume, and the individual intervals in the tag were so clean that i could feel the acoustic beats against my eardrum and it slightly hurt. so it's a total compliment, and a lesson learned about headphone volume lol

As an experienced freediver and close harmony singer, it's a struggle to hold that high A with you in two breaths, let alone one. I can hold my breath for over 4 minutes (which isn't impressive at all for freediving), but that last note is inhuman...

Overtones are impressive, yeah. But what about Ab5, Db6, F6 AND Ab6 overtones ringing together at the ending chord, all hearable to different degrees? This level of pitch, intonation and tone is simply unmatched. And I'm only talking about the final chord, not even starting to mention the minute and a half that comes beforehand. Phenomenal work Tim, just as a fellow commenter has said, I've decided that you are now my favourite quartet! Keep it up! By the way, just a suggestion, would there be any chance you do Westminster Chorus's "It Only Takes A Moment" Tag? That's one of my favourite tags out there and it'll really make my day if you do it! Obviously it's up to you to choose to do whatever tags - each and every one of your choices have been fantastic so far - but here's just a small suggestion. Cheers!

Thanks, Chris!! Honestly, I’ve worked really hard on singing with as little tension as possible and I work on Appoggio breathing…making sure my lower rib change is really open. That really has helped me! Hope it helps you!!
