I remember meeting you at the Missouri state competition when you were showing the mechanum chair and you had a big table of parts to show off. That was really when I was convinced you guys have the most well thought out system of parts and components. I spent so long just playing with everything you guys had and it was so fun.
Looking back, it's fun to see how influential this basic concept was on the season. You can even see hints of the ideas shown here in Delta Force's robot. That's not to say they necessarily watched this video, but more to say that you arrived at key elements of the meta in your 3 day workshop.
Thanks for this summary GoBilda - We were thinking about doing something similar for side rollers. Can you provide more information on those rollers. For the wheels is that a 1504 pattern spacer with a 6mm flanged bearing in the center? (And how wide is the pattern spacer?) It looks like it's about 6mm matching the wheel. -Thx.
How do you get the linear slide to retract? You mentioned something like a double pulley, however my team hasn’t figured it out yet do you think you can give an explanation on how it works?
We have a separate string that's wrapped around the pulley in the other direction, this pulls the slide back down as the extension side is feeding out line. We will have a video on this soon.
Why don't you guys use a Control Hub? Is there a good reason or is it just because you compete with Rev so it's not a good idea to use their product (if so, I don't think you're a bad company, it makes complete sense)
It's probably just simpler to use products they have on hand rather than buying a Control Hub, which they don't really need to do as they aren't competing in official events.
The big reason for us is speed, we can much more quickly put together a functioning chassis with an RC system, and because this build has such a short time restriction that's critical.
