What about the part were it says that he called his brothers to show them? Are you telling me that he was inviting his brothers to watch him have sex like some exhibitionist? The way you are interpreting scripture is confusing to what Genesis 9:23 says Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.

@@thereisnopandemic - first of all if you will study Hebrew and ancient middle eastern languages, you will Recognize the idiom in the biblical text. An idiom is an expression. The idiomatic expression 'to see ( saw) the nakedness of 'or uncover the nakedness '- is the same meaning. This idiomatic expression means to have sex with. There are numerous other biblical texts that can be used as examples. Begin in Leviticus 18:6-... the Hebrew word galah means to uncover which in the texts refers to having sexual relations. (See also Lev.27:17;) there are also other references such as Ezekiel 16:36-37;22:10;Ezekiel 2310-... see also Ezekie l23:29-- seeing and uncovering nakedness is in parallel.... and here is something else- the simple voyeurism view DOES NOT explain the curse on Canaan. Something was done here and it Angered Noah- but to curse Canaan , Ham's son??- Ham had 4 sons total and in the beginning of reading Genesis9:18- in this text it want us to take note of this one(out of four) particular son of Ham's.- ( 'Ham was the father of Canaan).- Keep this in mind now. But to respond to your question- Ham is boasting to his brothers at what he has done( which is had relations with his mother ( his father's wife- which is to see or uncover his fathers nakedness) but the brothers want NOTHING to do with it- and what they do in response is commendable & their jesture distances them from any mutual lust or approval of what Ham had done It puts a significant barrier between them & Ham casting them as 'the good guys'- - This view is the most coherent explanation for the cursing of Canaan. Canaan is the product of the incestuous union.( what all and how it happened is to assume that perhaps since Noah was drunk he was unable to defend & protect his wife from being 'uncovered ' and when he wakes and is made aware of what was done of course is angered. Here is something else- and other other biblical texts can show this as well: by Ham doing what he did, he is ( attempting to) laying claim to the leadership of the family and by the product of his attempt-he is gonna have Canaan keep that leadership going, but Of course Noah is NOT having it. Canaan gets excluded and made to be a servant to Shem & Japheth. & their decendants. Other examples of one usurping possession/ position is where in 2 Samuel12:8 look at verse 7 first- David took Saul's concuibines ***** THIS WAS HOW TO SOLIDIFY YOUR DYNASTY ******* in these cultures and times also Absalom( David's son) did this publically to David's concubines. He is trying to take over. ( see 2 Samuel 16:20-23) plus it almost happens to David again in his old age by another son- Adonijah..... By studying this view and the cultures of those times- the maternal incest view is far and away the most coherent understanding of the sin of Ham and the resulting cursing of Caanan..

Toby Hudgins you still assuming that in this case it means sex with mother. Uncovering nakedness does not always mean the same thing. Scripture is not 100 percent clear in this passage.

If you use scripture to interpret scripture more is revealed even though this passage isn't entirely clear on the surface. I think Toby's explanation is actually closer to what happened. The cursing of Canaan dilemma that directly follows has to be explained, or should be anyway.

Not angels, but God knows your every thought, movement, etc.....
