I ran away from home to Frisco in 69 because that was where the music was happening. And Steve was playing in the bar on the corner in my neighborhood. So I went down to check out the scene and I could not believe that Steve was playing in this small bar Night after night he knocked me out. And it was not long before he got a record deal. When he got his advance he bought a brand new mercury and pulled up to show us this beautiful car. So when he decided to leave, for some reason he asked me if I wanted to for a ride. I hopped in and we took off hitting all of the wineries in Sonoma. As soon as Steve showed up a party would start up. Steve would grab a six pack off beer and go sit on the hood of his car and drink by himself. Then after a couple of hours he would come back and say that he had written a new song and he wanted to play it and see how we liked it.Again he just knocked me out. Next we would drive to the next winery and the same thing would happen all over again. We did this until it was time for him to go into the studio. I guess that he pretty much wrote most of the songs for his first album that way.Steve is such a nice guy, super cool, and a great musicians. I love him and will never forget him taking for a ride. I learned a lot about music and life. Thanks a million Steve. People may not believe but that was how it was back then and God do I miss it! Peace Ya'll,!
This bluesy version inspired me to add the song to my repertoire. You will find the song on the great album "born to B Blue", where you will find such a great vesion of that song (born to be blue). as well Thanks a lot for loading!
