I think what I really love about Esmerelda as a character is that, even though people see her as untrustworthy and a witch, they see her as less than a person because of her race as a Gypsy, she never turns against others for it. It would be easy to grow bitter from such hatred directed towards oneself, but rather than do so, she seeks instead to help others in need and looks out for the underdogs of the world. Whether it be the poor, the broken, or even people like Quasimodo, who are shunned from society because of their appearance, she prays for them - the outcasts. Because she relates and empathizes with them as a result of her background as a gypsy, discriminated against all her life. Something about that is just really powerful.

That last note gave me goosebumps. This cover is amazing! This Disney song is so underrated, but I think it's lyrics are so profound and important, not to mention it's so beautiful!

Hunchback is my favorite Disney movie and as soon as I saw that you had a cover for it, I knew I had to listen to your version of it. You absolutely met and exceeded every expectation I had for it. Your voice is amazing, and I actually prefer your version to the original! Great job and keep it up!

I've watched a few of your vids and I have to say that your talent is astonishing. I'm not going to be unfair to you or Disney, you do come off a bit very rarely. But with that said, some Disney singers do so too and you never notice that because of the performance itself and the scenery of the song. That you copy that so genuinely is beyond me. If you're an amateur, you're the best one I've heard. Disney has with a few exceptions only professional singers, and you're up there with them. Kudos.
Now imagine how much more moving this would have been if they'd used more of the original plot... with Quasi-modo acting more as Frollo's minion for a while. And they show him trying to kidnap Esmerelda. Suddenly the mob's reaction earlier makes so much more sense... and if they make small edits to this scene... where Esmerelda sees Quasimodo and STILL continues this prayer... imagine how much more powerful that would have been. She would be showing that she doesn't hold the attempt against him and knows that he didn't actually want to harm her. But instead, Disney chickened out.
I honestly felt I was rewatching the movie when she was signing. I might have to rewatch this just to cross examine this to see if it was a different singer or if I've just lost my mind!
