I can only imagine Thor by his side trying to comfort him saying something like as a meathead "Cmon dad the body is still there you can just torture that can't you" and odin replying "No it' just not the same *Sobs* like I mean how could he just leave me, didn't I torture good enough"
I love how Atreus seconds after mimir says that not even the most powerful weapon in the universe can free him, starts trying to cut the tree with his knife lol he’s the best
@@seanpazdera6407 stormbreaker is only in the Marvel comics.İn the MCU its more powerful then mjolnir. However its the other way around in the comics. There is no stormbreaker in myths
I love the range Mimir's voice actor has. From the brevity of the boasting about how smart he is, to the thoughtfulness he expressed when talking how he could help, and to finally describing how much pain he was in. You could really feel each emotion in those lines. Loved it.
Head is a bro. Really helpful when in combat while not paying attention at the back, head will alert. Great Tales on the boat. Some puns when you dead.
Such a smart character that they included. Jumping from Greek to norse mythology was made so much smoother with Mimir since he delivers the tales with such enthusiasm that you will stay on the boat just to listen to his stories. Really hope he comes back in the next game
Mimir sounds very enthusiastic and upbeat.. Maybe to convince Kratos to bring him along. But that moment he got quiet and told Kratos what the Allfather does to him every day. Boy that was chilling. He'd rather be dead than stuck in that tree.
@@syedferoz2188 that, and perhaps Kratos empathizes with Mimir. You know, given how he himself has been a prisoner to the gods himself once or twice in his early days.
She has the right to be scared my guy! She may not know it, but the man before her has killed an entire pantheon of Gods and Titans out of the need for vengeance in a different dimension!
Yaboi 2020 I remember seeing a video the other day that covered a simi recent GOW comic. If I remember correctly it states while Kratos was on a quest to rid himself of the Blades of Chaos, he washed up on the shores of Midgard. There, he had an encounter with the two wolves that will aid in Ragnarok. The video then explains, or at least greatly speculates, that the world the game takes place in is much larger than ours. This is due to the probability that every major religion is true in this universe.
Can we talk about how Kratos literally told Mimir that there is a witch in the woods that knows the old ways but when he came to Freya he told her that Mimir was the one who claimed she could revive him. Such manipulation, he really is clever
well, is not necesarily that. when Kratos said "he claimed you could revive him" he might have simply meant that Mimir said that he could be reanimated by someone that knows the old magic, and since Freya knows the old magic, by extension it meant that she could revive him. basically is not that Kratos said "mimir said YOU specifically could revive him" but rather "mimir said someone who knows the old magic could revive him, and you use the old magic, so you can revive him"
Chris Pettie Odin think they're the answer to find Jotunheim. Plus he thinks Kratos will be feature threat due to the fact the prophecy didn't count a Kratos would be in Ragnorak.
Just noticed this, But looking at the designs of of all the characters/bosses seem like everyone got the beard treatment. Kratos got a fantastic dad beard, Jourmangardr has a causal chin bush, Mimir has a sagely veteran beard, God of war Bearded men club.
For those who do not know, Freja walked the world and made every thing, every plant, every animal, every fish, *everything* swear in tears that they'd never hurt Baldur. Even the enemies of the gods, Giants and beast alike, swore with red eyes they'd never hurt Baldur. Only, the mistletoe is not a tree, nor a flower, nor a bush or a shrub. It was the only thing in the entire world that had not collectively sworn to never hurt Baldur. And so, the lying god [Loki] fooled the blind god [Höd] to join the gods in their fun of testing every weapon in the world against Baldur with no effect. Only, Höd could not see that the arrow he shot was of mistletoe, and the arrow slayed poor Baldur who had never asked to be invincible yet died because of it. This was the last straw for the pantheon, who judged Loki with mythological repercussions.
@@JotenZ312 He was so used to being betrayed that he trusted no one. If his own father would try to kill him, then anyone would, even his grandfather Cronos. As far as Kratos was concerned, he had no real family despite their relation and were just in his way. Anyone he tried to trust, betrayed him, even Gaia and Athena.
I like how much kratos contradicts himself in this game and how everyone calls him out on his bullshit haha, they really did well on the story telling of this game tbh
Freya didn't needed to keep it a secret whereas Kratos does need to because that will corrupt his son, if not handled correctly. Also didn't he took it back?
@@basilofgoodwishes4138 Are you really arguing this? Kratos clearly should've told atreaus about his true nature so he wouldn't have gotten sick. Kratos contradicted himself a lot.
The story of Tyr was an amazing scene, it helped Atraeus understand that being a God doesn't mean he has to be evil and cruel. Sure, most Gods in this universe are right bastards, but every now and then you get a genuinely good God in the batches. It gave Atraeus the inspiration to be one of the good guys again.
كرونا THEHUB FAN سابقا If something is a ”dead giveaway”, it is a clue that blatantly reveals a truth. For example, if you wore a shirt with a soccerteams logo on it, that’d be a dead giveaway that you like that team.
The amount of work that went into this is insane. Imagine coding, designing, voice acting, storytelling and all other work that went into this masterpiece.
0:30 Yah know, if Kratos had chosen to fight then and there, there is a possibility he and Atreus would have killed all 3 of them. Atreus still had his Mistletoe arrows, so Baldur would have been vulnerable too.
nguyen ba giap Are you serious? Even If he doesn’t know the weakness he could’ve found out there when they fight... I mean Imagine Atreus shooting Baldur and we all know he would take the arrows because he thinks he is vulnerable, and he would be shock that it affected him. And as for the two brothers they would be a problem but let’s remember that Kratos has plot and the Sparta Rage Mode. And he also has experience from his past battles. So If Kratos and Atreus manages to kill Baldur first then it’s a win win.
nguyen ba giap also remember when Atreus first encounter Baldur? What did he do? he shot him.. but in this case Baldur would die from the mistletoe arrows.
4:43 This moment really made me feel for Mimir. It's also the first time he calls Kratos "brother" and I knew I was going to love this character. Didn't know he was going to become my favorite character in the whole game though!
Idk. That’s a pretty kid thing to do. Tell them something is impossible or can’t be done and they immediately test it out just to see if it’s true, regardless of the context.
Not necessarily gave it to him. Odin sacrificed his eye to the well of knowledge. So mimir saw the trade of an eye for a cup of the well water as a fair trade.
@@WhiteBoyTariq True, but he never once trusts gods anymore, and given Tyr is the only good god he's heard about so far... Why should he also trust Freya? Especially since, despite how much harm it causes her, she blindly defends the ever-invulnerable dickweed who just showed up to Kratos' house and threw hands, simply because it's the only good part of her marriage to Odin.
Absolutely no one talks about the scene when Mimir is talking about Tyr going down the elevator with Atreus and Kratos? Kratos basically seeing what he could’ve done in his life instead of what he did. While hearing his son praise Tyr. Gosh that’s gotta be a super powerful moment for Kratos mentally
I can’t believe how good the story is and how insanely good the Voice acting is. I wish this was a movie man. I watched the whole gameplay 3 times already and I can’t stop watching it.
Kratos being hesitant from the start is super great writing and forward thinking. Remember this is Kratos the God of War a man whose talked and battled with 10s of thousands of warriors, and would know when he sees the potential of Freya's lie and how even though she is helping them that it will happen again. This isn't him disliking her because of the attitude she gives him for threatening to reveal his identity to Atreus, although not to discredit that as he does seem mad at the time, this is Kratos having an intelligence the other gods couldn't of expected. Great writing, sorry for the rent
Every now and then you see a glimmer of that spark from Young Kratos. Kratos who killed the Gods because they made him mad, who killed people because they got in his way, who killed people even he said wasn’t a threat to him simply because they said something he didn’t like. It’s played for comedic effect but even Kratos saying “I’m going to cut off your head now” after Mimir called him out I thought “there’s the old Kratos”
Mimir: "Only a Giant would know the way to Joutenheim..." Atreus: "And all of them left Midgard a long time ago." Mimir: *looks at Atreus* "True, but the winds of fate picked up a strange vortext of coincidence." Mimir knew he was part Giant from the jump, I love how they give us hints to everything and we still suspect none of it because we're wrapped up in the game.
No he didn't. At the end of the game, the Dwarve's call out Atreus's heritage because they knew Faye was a giant. They call this out while Mimir is there and he's really surprised. Mimir never knew who Atreus's mother was, which is why he couldn't put the pieces together.
@KenAlpha1 If he didn't know Atreus was the son of Laufey, then how would he know Atreus is a giant? That doesn't make any sense. Much more likely that Mimir simply didn't know.
@KenAlpha1 that make not a lick.of.sense mimir didn't have i information that would lead to that specific fact. You guys are no just speculating thesis you want to be facts
for those who call out mimir lack of knowlege when kratos ask :"Why does the son of odin hunt us?" Mimir is translated :"to remember" which mean that he only has knowlege of the past rather than recent event, so yeah.... the game director know what he is doing
SemperInvctus I think it would be fitting in perfectly since they will messing around with timeline. Plus if with this trend they will somehow revive Zeus since the timeline might change. 😦😦😦 but still a theory
I think there was a prophecy that fortold Baldur's death, so Freya asked every element to not harm her child, but in doing so he couldn't feel nor enjoy the world. But the Misletoe plant was created after these events while Freya was away, thats Why the arrows can kill him. ... i think
honestly, Mimir telling stories to children, just fits his personality and his wisdom, even better, if he tells untold stories as a bed time story, I be getting a good night sleep as a child again.
@@kaizon7177 I haven't played this game but the world serpent is the future offspring of loki and in this game Atreus the son of Kratos is loki making the serpent Kratos future grandson who traveled back in time when he fought Thor after Yggdrasil broke some brenches off because of their battle or something like that im not sure. In this game Thor and Atreus/loki aren't step brothers like in Marvel.
Mimir is the absolute best character. Such a good well written character and the voice actor just absolutely made it even better. The passion, emotion, joy, kindness, all of it feels genuine.
i think they used to be lovers at some point and got in trouble with odin because of the affair, so balder is his son and not odins that explains why mimir gets abused every night, why balder feels nothing, and why freya is not with odin and her wings got ripped off
@@RamezB. that would make sense but wouldnt mimir actually care for his son too? Unless after he got his head cut off freya messed his knowledge up a bit (pertaining anything about baldur) and therefore cannot remember or recall Baldur being his son
@@onepieceking1770 it's all theories i know it might not be true, but it is possible that mimir doesn't know that he is his son, after all the way he talked to him when kratos was climbing gives it all away
Mimir: "It is said that the serpent and Thor's battle was so violent it splinters the tree of life and spirals the serpent back in time even before his own birth." Kratos: "That is madness." Really Kratos...Really?
All I remember reading was The World Serpent pierces Thor's body with poisonous barbs and after Thor kills The World Serpent his body gives way to the barbs and he collapses a few feat from the battle
10:57, always thought this was weird but I’m beginning to think that Freya just blocked his memory when it came on how to take away Baldurs abilities when resurrecting him. Even Mimir didn’t realize he had repeated the exact same thing in a row, feels like a brain glitch.
The more you think about it, Kratos probably took Mimir with him because he reminds him a lot of Orkos. Both men were subject to torture and torment. Both are smart as well and dont want the enemy to win even more than what they already have. They both want to help Kratos as well
At 30:47 Kratos goes to put a fatherly arm on Atreus' back. Which Atreus' unknowingly rebuffs by jogging forward, once again mentioning his godhood. Nice touch.
I really like mimir you can tell that he cares for both kratos and Atreus when he tries sacrifice himself when balder attacks Kratos on the bridge to jotenhiem
How him and Mimir get closer and closer is splendid. It goes to the point either the Boy or Kratos himself braided and bejeweled Mimirs beard in the second game.
it most likely will my guess is that Atreus is gonna cause ragnarok the same way Kratos led to the downfall of Greek then Atreus is gonna use Tyr world stone thing to go check out other places.
Problably but kratos isn't leaving any time soon but he might be useless in the new games as will be hard to make kratos the main point of the game again .. but remember.. gods can live for thousands of years
Really? It was the corruption of the Gods that caused the downfall in Greece. Study history and next time you will not appear ignorant. During the reign of the Titans there was peace, all was well in the world. When Zeus had his Coup d'etat and the Titans imprisoned and defeated, the world felt their chaos.
"Study history and next time you will not appear ignorant." No, pretty sure what ended the Gods of Greece in the GoW series was Kratos killing them all...
I like to think Kratos had flashbacks to Deimos, who went through a similar experience as Mimir. Both were innocent people who were tortured for something they were accused of / foretold to do.
Man i can't wait for the next God of War game, it's going to be so epic! Mimir was my favorite addition to this game, love the banter. Also Mimir and Jormungandr speaking is hilarious
At first I kinda assumed he was Loki given the nature of his imprisonment. Obviously not the case. The difference is that Loki in mythology was well aware of baldurs weakness
