Buy Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Uncharted 4 while you're at it. They are worth every penny! Also pickup "Until Dawn" if you love 90's teen horror with QTE's and decisions :). I enjoyed that game.

play Doom. One thing i want to say is that both God of War and Doom need to be played at second highest difficulty to be enjoyed by actual gamers in their first try. Medium difficulty is too easy and you don't want the highest difficulty in your first try.

ikr?it gets REALLY good around the half way point of the game the combat is fun with atreus and kratos the balder boss battles are amazing the trolls do get repeative but when you face gods in the game thats when it gets good

I agree. I am a die-hard Halo fan but Halo has a new developer so the new games are shit. I beat God of War 1 and 2 on my PS2 years ago (I beat God of War 3 on a friend's PS3) so now I'm jumping straight from PS2 to PS4. I bought the God of War edition PS4 Pro. This game is bringing back memories instantly.

I Am ECIII it actually felt different for me and more drawn out with me exploring areas and then they turn out inaccessible and I look for them later and end up forgetting there locations and it draws out hrs of my time just wanting to find upgrades and powerful stuff before I complete the game to do new game+ or something. It feels slow and for some reason I can't help but being obsessed with collecting every resource. The previous games were not like that for me at all. And combat is also more drawn out, I miss his chain blades. I'm about half way through the story I think. The only great part I loved so far was the stranger battle at the start and the dragon battle wasn't bad. Maybe later there's more like that. I would prefer and pay a lot of money for a complete set remaster of 1 2 and ascension. I really hope so.

First God of War game I've played, and I'm glad. Going back to try the older ones and the main enemies feel like cannon fodder. With this installment every enemy feels like a threat when you fight them in groups.
Older god of war combat was a lot more hectic. Hacknslash like, so yeah there were waves of dozens of enemies that take 3 sweeps with the BOC to deal with
No it's just that old enemies in old games were easy on the easy difficulty it was meant to be played on the harder difficulties to get the real combat experience
Phenomenal. Change is DEFINITELY good. The combat is revamped, yet it still retains the aggressive nature for GoW. The story is clutching, so strong it’s like an abysmal black hole constantly reaching out, very smoothly progressed, and rich in emotion, intellectually stimulating moments, and blood pumping, thrilling action. Never have I seen a game get such a makeover and it’s not only still good, but in my opinion better, and more richer than what is was known for. 10/10.
cacorot skins(armor), theme, digital artbook. I'm pretty sure you can unlock the armor in the game, and if not, you'll probably get rid of it after a couple hours of gameplay since you'll get much better armor.

My dad bought me the original God of War randomly one day back in 2006. Then he bought me the 2nd one on my birthday. GOW3 is why I saved up to buy a PS3. I bought a PS4 before they announced GOW 2018. And now I'm gonna get a PS5 to enjoy GOW Ragnarok at the best it can be.
dope malone enchantments are for your armour. If your armour has sockets then you would place your vitality enchantment into an open socket slot and it just boosts Kratos’ vitality stats for a bit of extra health
dope malone They are for your armor, to give your armor perks, you equip them by going to armor> and if it has a "socket space" And different enchantments do different things of course, like some will help your strength, while others are vitality or luck. Hope that helps 👍
Been playing this on ps5 free with the ps+ collection. First god of war game I’ve played and regret never playing the older game’s. This is one of the best game’s I’ve ever played!!
Could death stranding come out this year? I'm not as big of a Rockstar fan as most of you probably are but I think red dead redemption if it comes out this year will be a huge contender. I can't wait to see if shadows die twice is tenchu or bloodborne 2. Also Ghosts of Tsushima might just suprise us it looks like it has potential. There are also a lot of those Japanese RPG like Yakuza and others that came out and are coming out soon I don't really play them but I know they are well made. Would BOTW be considered 2018 as well for GOTY?
It does take awhile to get the hang of exploration like mentioned...throughout the first 10-ish hours i was always going “oh that’s a new path...wait i can actually go there now!?” There’s not a laundry list of side quests given, yet i was still getting sidetracked (for the best possible reason)
Instead of been happy and glad to have another great game to play, and talk about it, many of comments are, for no real reason, against Xbox. How sad people can be, I start to think that you really don't love videogames at all, you just love to hate the console you don't have. I have both, and I'm loving GOW so far, while waiting for State of Decay 2.
I do agree with you regarding the finisher animations , they shouldve added more grotesque and brutal animations to make you feel that you truly a ruthless God Of War.
my PS4 broke and friend wants me to buy a Xbox but then I see this and Spider-Man coming soon, not to mention Bloodborne 2....Yeah I'll stick to PS4 bud.
Don't buy an Xbox it has no good games only thing it has is the one x with 4k, backwards compatibility and 4k Blu Ray player. If you really want good graphics and high resolution just get a PC instead, but for console games PS4 is the best option.
I went with PS4 because I enjoy their exclusives better, and the overall network. Plus all my friends have gone with PlayStations as well. I'd still go PS even if they went Xbox.
This game made me fall in love with single player campaigns again. THIS is what gaming is and should be like. God of War sets the tone for single player games to come in the future. Buy this game. Do not miss out.
darkvader37 not really, it’s a decent game but nobody is going to play the game over and over again, there is no incentive to repeat it. you play and then you’re done nothing more nothing less, there’s no grinding in it. if you compare to say borderlands, there is no clocking in hundreds of hours
Imo, it's worth well past the 60$ mark, and it's something you'll definitely want to experience more than just once, either alone or with someone else. You be the judge.
This game was hands down the BEST game series sequel ever. I loved this game so much. So unique and amazing feel to it, as well as so much to do. The references to at least God of War 3 were perfect. I felt for the characters.
I'm loving the game. I have about 15+ hours in to it and feel like I've only scratched the surface of the story because I've been exploring and doing side quests. The combat is really deep and took me a little bit to get used to but I was playing today and doing combos like the old games and mixing it up a lot. I really like that you can combo in to pretty much any move and use all the forms of combat at once like you can hit someone with your axe, knock them in to the air, throw the axe, carry on beating them up hand to hand and use the kid to shoot arrows or melee them at the same time. The older games were kind of set in stone for certain combos where you would have to press square 3 times and then triangle to get a certain move but this one seems more like a lot of single moves that you can connect together to make your own flashy combos and then you can even throw in the special moves which there seems to be a lot of. The armor and weapon upgrading system is great as well because you can tune it more to how you want to play the game and there's a lot of perks and features that come with certain pieces of armor, talismans, enchantments and pommels that add a lot more depth to the game.
I remember when I first played when I reached the snow mountain I got so mad because I thought the game was ending but I cried from joy when I realized the game kept going.
Project Gamer as a big fan of red dead redemption i gotta say that RDR2 won't do shit because rockstar is not focusing on how they make the game great , they are focusing on microtransactions and how to make the game system so greedy and this is what gonna make the game not that good because all the time of developing gonna spend it on microtransactions not on how to make the as detailed as possible in term of gameplay and environment...etc , the game won't have any passion in love in making it , the game gonna be all about money nothing else

I'm a few hours in and I agree with 100% of what you said. And yes, the camera does feel like it's working against you but after watching a tips & tricks video from the director of the game, Cory Barlog, I realized that battles in the new God of War weren't meant to be a hack 'n slash fest like the previous games but instead force you to consider your surroundings and use your bare hands just as much as the axe. After watching the video I've learned to use the freezing properties of the axe then get behind that particular baddie -- who's usually next to a wall or barrier -- then continue the battle and stick close to the walls so none of them sneak up behind me. The point is that God of War battles in this game were meant to be more strategic and require timed parries and dodges. By the way, when an enemy is attacking and the circle around him is green, that's an unblock-able attack. Had I not watched the video I would've kept thinking it was my fault I wasn't blocking in time. Thanks for posting this video. It was worth the wait!! Cheers!
Michael T You can throw people off a cliff for example. Or use some explosive material you find later in the game to deal great damage. Your surroundings can help your battles.
If you read my entire comment I mentioned that I use the freezing powers of the Leviathan to freeze an enemy then (sometimes) get behind them so I avoid future enemies flanking or getting behind me to attack. I advanced a little farther and had to fight against an "ancient", which is basically a rock monster shooting blue energy from its chest. Thankfully there's a huge rock formation that blocks his energy blasts as he gives chase around this huge rock like a dad chasing his kids around a tree. Using the rock I'm able to attack while avoiding those 5+ sustained energy blasts (which can also be blocked with Kratos' shield but that's not a good strategy). Anyway, my point is that you can't just hack 'n slash your way through this game. Each battle requires brains as much as brawn (and of course a little bit of luck) in order to fight and win. It's not easy but that's what makes the game so much fun. If I have one complaint so far it's that I feel like I'm in a part of the game where I'm just roaming around aimlessly without a lot of direction as to what I'm doing or why.
iamfear2k if you're thinking about getting this game get it is a must I dont know if you heard the praises and the hype and I'm telling you right now that it's all real all the hype is real all the praises it lives up to all of it I can say that with confidence. Excuse my language but get this Fucking game right now! It's a masterpiece 10/10 I'm dead serious and not exaggerating it's that's good
I got the God of war ps4 pro bundle. Best thing ever! Having played all god of wars from ps2 till now... I can only say... Well done! One of the greatest stories of all time. I love the challenge this game presents. 10/10
I made it 1:14 into this before buying the game a few weeks ago. I've since beat it 5 freaking times because of how fun it is. Absolutely best game of 2018 & it's not close

Never played a GoW game nor am I a fan of fantasy/mythology RPG games yet I'm enjoying this game A LOT. I was extremely hesitant to buy this because of those reasons, but now I do not regret anything. Definitely worth a purchase.

Your reviews are very fair and gives just amount of detail, doesn’t try to force some bullshit rating system, and really feels like an honest, candid work. I appreciate that you guys took time to complete this. We always say that delayed games are eventually good so it’s better to wait, why shouldn’t the same apply to the reviews?
I played the game 8 hours straight, it was goddamn beautiful. This game is amazing, but kind of repetitive. There's a lot of backtracking, and fetch quests. The story can get boring sometimes, but the combat flows so smoothly and nice you're instantly sucked in having fun. The puzzles confused me sometimes, but they were over all pretty easy. I would give this a 8/10, definitely worth the hype. Gotta go back to playing now.
Oh yeah I bought this a couple days ago and have been playing for hours. I 100% agree with this review. It’s as accurate as you can get. This game has a lot of meat and even though I’ve been play for hours I feel like they always add something new. Love it! Highly recommend just buying it, you will need to take breaks.
Man, Microsoft have to get their shit together. My xbox is a Netflix machine and I'm playing this game on PS. For example... Feels like Crackdown is never coming out. By the time it does, we've had multiple awesome Sony exclusives....
1. Crackdown 3 is not cancelled 2. Xbox is lacking, but God of War is your only AAA game this year so far 3. Name anything outside of games and Xbox has a clear advantage
After 40 hours of gameplay on this game, i can say that two of my cons would be the map, u can't really navigate just from looking at it (the compass makes up for it, but it's locked to certain points), and the small "UI" or whatever u call it, enemy level numbers are tiny etc.

I just finished this on my PC and it was an amazing experience!!!! I have always loved the series (GOW 1, 2 and 3 on my PS2 and PS3) but never got a chance to get a PS4. I played it on my PC of 1440p HDR with max graphic settings on a high refresh monitor and it was a spectacular experience. At first i thought it wasn't feeling like a GOW game, but later in the story i took my words back. I mean the story is fantastic! I LOVED the game!!!! Can't wait for the next game to come on PC!!!!!
