I'm someone who finds it hard to get really into a new game these days, and this one completely hooked me from the get go. Absolutely recommend this masterpiece.
But this isn't a new game? I'm confused by the first sentence? I see your comment got "hearted" by this channel, so I'm afraid I'm missing something here.
@@NyneIX9 he's probably talking about a few years ago. either way if I'm playing a new game it's usually just one that i haven't played yet, not one that came out last week
This is the one game that doesn’t need a before you buy video. Just buy it and you’ll love it! Can’t even begin to imagine how crazy good the graphics are on pc
I definitely see improvement in shadows, fog and textures. But they are mind blowing differences... However, the performance is top notch. Being able to get over a hundred frames per second is amazing. But even 60 plus is a significant improvement. And being able to turn off things like motion blur and film grain, for example are also quite nice. I know some people want an FOV slider but I think the way this game was designed specifically how the camera follows kratos, etc. I'm not sure if it would have worked right.
@Unmei You can pretty easily notice the difference. No more checkerboard ghosting, artifacting, blocky flickering shadows and bad reflections. No more loss of resolution when everything is moving, no more muddy textures in motion or from oblique angles. No more bad looking particles. All the things I noted playing on playstation that bugged me about the visual presentation are mostly gone, although the HDR implementation is still crap.
I hope that this encourages Sony to release more games on PC because when the time and effort to is put into a game to make a quality PC port it shows.
Just finished it today on PC ... Logged over 30 hours in 3 days ... Very good game , excellent story , well paced , combat was a blast and ran great on my 3080ti and ultrawide 1440p panel ... This is how all ports should be ... Highly recommend 👍👍👍
@@The_NJG bro I got pretty lucky, I was able to get a EVGA 2080super for around 470$ I was on the same boat as you, had more than a year waiting on a GPU
I've never played any of the god of war games until I started this one on my pc a week ago. Absolutely one of the best games I've ever played. The story was so heartfelt and brilliant. I loved the mix between Greek and Norse mythos and can't wait for the sequel to come out this year. 9 out of 10 for me! Kratos was such a well developed character in this game and his relationship with Atreus was perfectly done, I really can't say enough good things about this game!
I envy the players that will play this for the first time. Is such a cool feeling. Growing up with Kratos and playing this story is so emotional for me. One of the greatest games of all time, really.
Highly recommend this game for anyone who hasnt played it! It is a masterpiece and i cannot wait for ragnarok, im thinking of playing it back to back when it releases ReEdit: i want native 4k on consoles maybe so haha, checkerboard looks alright but not as good as this and i can notice the native 4k on my phone
Highly recommended game if you haven't played it. I fell in love with it almost instantly when it released on PS4. It looks stunning, the gameplay is great and the storyline is great in my opinion. Definitely pick this up if you have been tossing the idea around of playing it!
I started this game for the first time over Christmas and found myself sweating it out for a week straight. I fully enjoyed every minute of this game and was never bored. Currently grinding my 2nd playthrough on Give Me A Challenge and it still feels really rewarding, so I'm now gearing up my build so I can take on Give Me God Of War difficulty 🤘
I bought this game last Xmas as a gift to myself, it was an exciting journey and incredible gameplay. I played it on my ps4 and looked awesome !!! cannot wait for Ragnarok 🎮😊👍
@@sonicandroxas a lot of ppl rush through some parts of the story and dont bother with a lot of the side quests thats why they finish the game so fast and do a second playthrough. Also a lot of folks like me like going on the hardest difficulty from the start.
I am able to run this game at High settings on 2560-1440 with a few stutters, but they've been minor and only for a second and two. I've played a bit of it on the PS4 and so I haven't played through the entire story but I am enjoying it a lot so far
Definitely has the most concise and well made reviews but my go to channel for in-depth reviews has to be ACG. The dude goes way above and beyond what other review channels do.
@@squirrel_disaster Let me know what you think. Some of his videos are more essay-like but if I'm dropping £50 on a game I don't know much about I like to do my due diligence first.
Loved this game and you did a good job explaining how open world/not open world this game is. Doing the extra activities was rewarding and never felt tedious or like it detracted too much time/attention. It really was well paced throughout which is something a lot of games don't pull off but is arguably very important and overlooked for the sake of padding out game time.
Yess I'm so hyped to play this, but I'll have to wait and buy it later this month when I have some more time. Im hoping for this to be up there with Doom Eternal for me.
It’s crazy you uploaded this and I just downloaded it again but this time on my new PS5 and I get to play with performance mode on this time and OMFG! It’s just such a good game. I been playing GOW since PS2 days. My favorite being GOW 2. But gotdamn! Cory Barlog is a godsend to gamers everywhere. He is the best for reimagining Kratos and his story and character. Santa Monica Studios in general really care about the GOW franchise. And I can’t wait for Ragnorok!
On my rtx 3070 it runs on ultra textures and high settings with dlss quality on 3440x1440 it runs from 100-120 fps this game in a good ultra wide screen it's amazing
Have a 3070 as well. Had to turn shadows from ultra to high. This settings tanks 20 fucking fps in some scenes. Other than that. Game looks and playes beatiful.
Im happy for all who are playing this for the 1st time in all of its updated glory! This God of War was what got me to buy my 1st PlayStation console and the game feels like a magical experience.
3 great months of gaming so far. I grinded Forza horizon 5 in November and then last month I grinded Infinite and now I'm grinding GOW. I've been very please with all 3 and haven't enjoyed games like these in a while
Best game I played in the last years .Been looking for that lost rush . I'm a MMORPG fan that likes pve /pvp ,something competitive...but this got me hooked , it reminded me why I loved gaming in the first place,bk to when I was a kid . Such an immersive game. Great job to everyone that made it happen .I',m legit happy I got to play it in this life line :D And thank you for the review !
This is one of the things I absolutely love about PC...all the customization you can do to video settings, audio, FPS limits, Field of View in FPS (huge!), DLSS on or off along with Ray Tracing on/off or even set the amount of Ray Tracing, etc etc etc. If Sony is planning on bringing over all their exclusives, I'm happy to trade off waiting a year or two to have this much control over my games. Guilty pleasure admission....one of my favorite things about first launching a new game is playing with the settings and comparing how each change impacts FPS... ☺
@@BraveVesperia0828 That's changing though. Sony said they're going to increase the pace of ports...which from their perspective makes sense, bc, well, money. They didn't give specifics, but 1 year (barring longer development of the PC port) would make total sense. That way they could still market a game as an "exclusive", granted it'd be a timed exclusive, but they probably would minimize that aspect.
This was like my 4th or 5th game after getting my ps4 after about 6 years of missed gaming. I had played ff7 remake first and a a couple other rpgs. When I came to this game I realized how much gaming had opened up and changed. It really got me back into gaming and I'm just glad I got to experience this and I've been holding my breath waiting to continue this adventure
You can actually can play bloodborne on pc if you have ps now you can play that, and god of war on their pc build. I been playing sly cooper lately though unlike the consel you have to stream it.
@@triston-h6878 In the sense that it's capped at the original 30fps, not really imo. If they remaster it, even just for playstation, then I'd give it a fair shot.
@@triston-h6878 they all run smoothly on PC the only thing is you cant play in 4k as all games are set at 720p.. still, with PSN youve had the option to play these games on PC the entire time without spending too much
was excited like you but lmao it came and it came in bad, poorly optimzed only high end pc can run the game above 60 fps, i am tlaking about 3090 series and i9 type lol.
@@bart1950 lmao do you have mental problem?why would i lie, i am trying to play with my 1660 6gb, and fps drops almost all the time, its not that bad compared to horizon but its still bad enough
@@bart1950 no way you are running it at solid 60 on a 1050ti without setting it to lowest and Ultra quality amd fsr at 1080p which make game look absolute shit. Other guy is right, it was unoptimised few days ago, Memory leaks but it seems they have fixed it.
Just noticed the shadow's of leafs on the axe when Kratos was cutting the tree @2:00.... Wow the level of of details are unbelievable.... Hats off to Santa Monica Studios...
I can confirm this. Running a 2700X with 3080. Getting a solid 60fps, without any dips, at native 4K, with DLSS Off (yes off), with 16gb 3000mhz ram and WD Blue 550 1TB NVMe. Great launch!
@@purplewine7362 I haven’t played it on my PC yet because I’m out of town working, but I’ve got a i9 10900k, RTX 3090, 32gb 3200 ram, and a 1tb samsung 970 evo m.2 I’ll be downloading it to. I don’t doubt I’ll be getting over 100 fps on my 4k display, but I could be wrong 🤷🏻♂️
I watched the whole gameplay online when it first came out because I didn't have a Ps4 or anything, but in 2019 I got myself a pc and in 2021 heard about GoW coming to pc, I was so excited to play it! ( Again). Still one of the best experience and glad to start 2022 with a game like this.
Honestly Its amazing so many new people can experience and enjoy this game and HOPEFULLY soon Ghost of Tsushima cause one thing growing up that sucked was missing out on good games because you had a different console
I played God of War 4 for the first time a few days ago on PC, and now we're getting a new one, I can't imagine how excited all the people who have been waiting since 2018 must be
4 years later and the only thing I miss from this game would be just a little more variation in "grab execution" finishers. Just 1 finisher for each type of enemy gets a little repetitive to look at.
God of war 3 was one of the first games I've ever played and i instantly fell in love with the series. I don't have a ps4 so this coming out on pc is like a dream come true
I really appreciate this. In an industry that has made bad PC ports the norm, its refreshing to see that Sony actually went the full mile and made a port that actually works. I'm currently in a financial bind so I'll have to wait but I have it on Steam Wishlist though so when I do get some disposable income I'll be snatching this incredible game first chance I get. I had the pleasure of playing this at a friends house and me and her both LOVE Norse mythology. Adding Kratos to the mix was cherry topping on top of a delicious cheese cake.😀😀😀 Thank you so much Jake! 😍
I tried it for 2 hours and man was it an amazing experience at just the beginning. I was able to beat baldur and the first troll boss and almost beat the second boss. So maybe it was slightly more than 2 hours. Would love to have it if only I had a good gaming PC and a console. But not gonna give up, will continue to work so one day I can have a good gaming PC.
if you have a GTX1650, I5-10tgGen, 8 RAM, 60Hz laptop, u can run this game on lowest graphics with no problem and the game still manages to look beautiful
God of War was one of the 2 games that finally led me to buy a PS4 in early 2020 - Never played one before. It can get mildly frustrating at times, but man, it really is a satisfying game.
@@jugg9140 update your drivers and maybe turn off v sync. I can run it at high on 1660 ti 60+ frames almost 70 constantly. Turn shadows and texture quality to original also that really helps
@@user-cx3dk9fl7r its on original, and drivers are updated, and without vsync due to my monitor being 60hz refresh rate, got some not so much screen tearing, it's probably due to cpu my cpu is i5 that i bought some 9 years ago, but that being said, it is not well optimized.
@@user-cx3dk9fl7r probably, i might upgrade, but i hate pc industry because everything is so expensive, right now i am thinking of buying ps5 rather than upgrading my pc.
I always preferred the older game. The fast hack and slash taking on a screen full of enemies that was awesome, you were a force to reckon with. I found the new game just slowed everything down, I understand they wanted something "cinematic" but it just bored me to be honest plus the combat in the new game feels like it was designed for 1v1
Agreed. I was very excited for the original release of this game, and despite trying several times, I just can’t get into it - to the point of entirely losing interest due to boredom. The story may well be interesting and well played out - but there’s not enough ‘game’ underneath it for me. Unpopular opinion I know, ( and for those that love and enjoy this game so much, I’m very respectful and appreciative of that so please don’t troll - I’m glad you enjoy it! ), but to my mind this iteration of GOW was / is a very impressive tech demo, with little to offer in terms of genuinely enjoyable gameplay. Each to their own though - respect to those that hold the game in such high regard.
@@Imnotbotheredgary exactly you didn't feel like a god of "war". Maybe one day I will try it again but who knows 🤷 I just remember the lack of gameplay and too much walking and cutscenes
Not to mention the crappy puzzles and side quests in this game, I don’t think the story is that good either and it’s all just overrated in general. I even completed the game just to make sure
I think its pretty cool that Sony releases their exclusives to PC as well, some people prefer PC and this game is just phenomenal, the more players the better I'd say.
I'll say one thing, this pc footage looks exactly like how I played it on ps5 idk how Sony managed to compress it for the ps4 but after playing it on the ps5 the game looks stunning man I mean it was already a fantastic game but man 4k60fps just changed my experience tbh.
Watch the behind the scenes also, for all of you. You see everything. The team leads trying to get the funds from Sony, to making the first demo and doing the presentation, to the reviews. They got one of the best CEO's in the industry and had such a good run with Cory Barlog on this game. Absolute relentless perfection.
I have this on PS4 and I feel like getting it on PC anyways. I finished it a while back but started playing it on harder difficulty recently and it’s still amazing. If you want any motivation, watch ‘the making of’ to see how much thought went into this game.
I tried to play this game on the PS4 pro at launch, but I also had a PC at that time which probably spoiled by my performance expectations, and the pro chugged along. FPS dips into nearly unbearable ranges, and input lag that I felt impacted my performance, made me stop playing the game after battling The Stranger. Now, almost 4 years later, I can play this game the way it was intended. Sure keyboard and mouse weren't what was "intended" but I am loving the feel of this game after a long absence from the GoW serries. It's good to be back in this game's beautiful universe!
I’m a pc user and I never had money to buy consoles since I don’t have that luxury. I’m so glad with this port as now I’m finally able to experience this jo ney with Kratos and Atreus. This game just hooked me like Witcher 3 hooked me for the first time, emotionally and mentally. I don’t want to die just yet because I have to know what happens in Ragnarok. Honestly, if was such an emotional ride that there are just moments in the game where I stare at the screen in awe or trying to digest just how cool what I’m seeing(i.e beating Thor’s sons, getting the blades of chaos, talking to Jormungandr etc).
Oh man.. okay so not that anyone cares but I had always heard and been interested in the God of War series however I never had the opportunity to play the game since I had a 360. I recently played this game for the first time on my PC and the graphics, story, cutscenes are truly something i’ve never seen in a game before. I absolutely loved this game from start to finish. I definitely encourage for someone willing to give it a shot to go for it.
love this game, started my NG+ last night, soooooo hooked on this game, and it is beautiful, everything maxed, even in 1440p(no 4K screen) @ an average of 130fps
Obviously it feel better with KBM, voer the shoulder games are designed for that setup, 90% of the difficulty in the comes from how slow and clunky you can react to stuff with a controller and it's nice to finally enjoy the game how it properly should.
Never played god of war it’s installing now nearly done got my munchies ready the weekend off work and ready to game in a blacked out room on 4K can’t wait man thanks for your time brother
Story - 10/10 Game Optimization to PC - 9/10 Visuals - 9/10 Gameplay Mechanics - 6/10 Seriously the story and the way it runs is incredible, just wish the combat wasn't clunky as hell half the time. Just finished Jedi: Fallen Order, so I had a pretty high bar though.
Played this through twice already on a base Ps4 and loved it. Bought it immediately upon PC release and I've been glued to my monitor since. Running at 1440p ultra settings looks insane compared to standard 1080 of my playstation. This is one of the very few titles that doesnt need a "before you buy".
well , i just got it. i didn't watch any trailers or game plays even when it was release on PS4 , just to enjoy this moment. I didn't even watch your video, i just listen XD thank you for your efforts in all of your videos in the channel.
“I wish mom was here to see” 😭😭😭 I remember years ago playing this game with my mom who’s no longer here and I was all excited for this game, but now I’m back sad and depressed
