I never wanted to kill Thor the only person I wanted to kill was Odin only him to make sure all those who suffered and died will be avenged For Magni and Modi For Thor For Frieya For Tyr For Brok For Sindri and Mimir
@@jimmysauceda2628 same. Thor was such a sympathetic character. Very well done and a great foil for Kratos. Wish he could have lived. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Thrud in the next game
@@mezmezzy1870 ummm kratos cannot come back from this hellheim realm lol he even said it to freya , he does not know this, and she warned him to not go to the bridge of the damn… there was no turning back, kratos of course would be able to scape hell from his homeland but not this one
@@Josemunoz-hi9nh Yeah, and the Aesir were collectively shitting themselves over Garm getting set loose, so I'm not sure you understand. Kratos can get out, he has before, its just another hell, you think you can just swim out of the River Styx? Nah, Kratos just did as he needed to
@@mezmezzy1870 don't forget the river Styx makes you forget EVERYTHING about your life, your passions and anything you were about to do. In other words, No. We cannot swim the river Styx :)
Thor looked up to Kratos past as he thought of Kratos as a "Destroyer". He was excited to fight another Rage fueled monster. But when Kratos wins, tells thor he wouldn't hurt his daughter and then puts his weapon away because he doesn't wanna fight. Thor realizes Kratos knows exactly what position he is in. "Dont you know what I've done?" "Yes. But what will you do now?" Basically the main lesson kratos learns in GoW 2018, you can still do good things as long as you choose to do so. Not just follow orders
That is the reason why Kratos got into his mess "by following orders". It cost his brother, wife and daughter too. It cost a lot of things too in the process, like his spartan brothers too. All because the greek pantheon had their own agenda, and Zeus been a paranoid prick. And to topped off, Kratos was a mortal ascended to god at the end of GoW1. Thor walk that path too but because of daddy issues in this case. Odin was just a prick to everyone around him. To Thor it cost both of his sons too by Kratos and Atreus hands.
I love how subtly they conveyed the "[Thor and Kratos] really aren't that different" trope. In 2018, during all the boat stories that talked about how much of a murderous monster Thor was, I kept thinking (and perhaps Kratos himself thought) how much worse Kratos' own actions in the past could have been interpreted from the outside. Kratos knew he had no right to judge Thor, and Thor felt that Kratos was a kindred spirit: an animal who lusted for battle and destruction. But ultimately even Thor began to second guess his actions past and present, for similar reasons as Kratos: his family. Thor even played a role in the death of his own son, so the similarities are continuous. Now they're both fathers with one child left, and they both realize they'd do anything to protect them... Even if that meant dying or, worse, accepting defeat.
I could have sworn that this was the same guy who ripped somebody’s head off just to use his head as a lantern and now he’s showing mercy Now THATS character development
This is also the same man who viciously and savagely murdered Poseidon. When you look at Kratos' face from Poseidon's POV before he flung him to a rock, you could clearly see that he did not have the look of somebody who wanted to kick your ass, he had the frightening look of a man consumed with a boiling rage who wanted to fucking kill you. He had nothing to temper his rage or hold him back, and that was what made Kratos from GOW 1-3 so frighteningly rage-fueled and dangerous. He could have easily done what he did to Poseidon to Heimdall and Thor, but he had to hold back for obvious reasons.
In the first fight with Thor, when kratos gets cracked with the hammer it nearly killed him. In the last fight he eats the exact same shot but took it like an absolute champ.
@@Evilshtt353 Eh it isn’t the first time he conquered death. That’s what I didn’t get about Ragnarok. The Norse clearly didn’t hear that Kratos escaped death’s cluthes like it was easy many times in Greece.
@@nathanf3019 saw it happen to someone during the invasion part in the trenches, dunno what triggers it honestly cus I definitely used rage before this fight but got it here too
@@apocalypse8346 Okay, fine, I'll give you that he killed ONE comrade. Wife and Child arent comrades, that's different, but the last Spartan... yeah Kratos really didn't learn shit from his past lmao

There is this glitch aswell. In the QTE with the Axe and Mjolnir, Thor kills you if you do nothing, and if you have a reserruction stone, Atreus will appear out of nowhere and join the fight. And Thor's health bar is gone
I think Thor had it slightly worse than Kratos did. Kratos always had free will (technically) to go against the gods whenever he liked. He actually spent the majority of his mortal adulthood in freedom from them. Thor, on the other hand, had a very manipulative father who brainwashed him into being nothing except a drinker and killer. Thor never knew any other life, dying really was all he had left.
Hard disagree. Kratos definitely had it worse. Ultimately, Kratos had no one to truly confide in and support him. Everyone who supported him either died (sometimes by his hands) or betrayed him and then died by his hands. Meanwhile, Thor has a loving wife and daughter willing to support him no matter what. The biggest difference between the two is that whereas Kratos gave into his rage and chose action, Thor fell into despair and chose inaction. By the time he wanted to take action to change it was a little too late, not to mention the wrong time and wrong place with Odin standing right in front of him.
Kratos: I can be a calm and reasonable man.....if the situation calls for it.... Thor: oh, I believe the situation demands that I kill you! Kratos: very well.....BOY
I felt the Thor rematch should’ve been better if not to focus on the reflective moment then Kratos fighting Odin should’ve been insane!! But Odin was trash dude was easy af😂
@@Theboredgod No, Odin was designed to be easy because we was never powerful like Zues or even like Thor. He was a manipulator, not a warrior. He wasn't meant to be a challenging boss fight. His boss fight is there for the narrative but the game gives you plenty of other options for "boss" fights. Pretty much all the Berserkers could classify and the King is no joke. I personally think there should be more disappointment towards the Gna fight and the Raven Keeper, honestly those were letdowns.
@@MrNight18 Gna fight wasnt a letdown bwuh even if it was just remember budget issues still existed in this game its noticible when you complete the game
Please Bring Thor back as a good character in the new game. He deserved so much better. Also id kill to be able to play as Kratos & Thor duo. A perfect team Leviathan and Mjolnir, Thunder and Ice. The way you play as Atreus and Thor, imagine playing as Kratos while having Thor on your side
There's even more to this (though I don't know if this was fixed). First buy a ressurection stone. If you press R3 and when promted to press L1 or L2, do nothing. Thor will attack you until you die. Ressurect yourself, and Atreus will magically appear. Though this fight will end up with you dying because Thor will not die because the game didn't expect you to do this. Atreus won't be able to shoot arrows on your command, nor the ability to summon and will do whatever according to his AI
Vidar? Forseti? Hel? Njörðr? Buri? Skaði? Vidar is the personification of vengeance, so no. Kratos can't outclass shit. Can't even use Mjölnir with his bare hands.
I refused to hit him after the part where their weapons collided and you're supposed to hit R1 or R2 to keep hitting him. It resulted in my game bugging out as he kept punching me until I fell, then Atreus showed up and revived me (which I don't think he's supposed to during this fight) but Thor no longer had a health bar and no matter what I did he wouldn't die.
I know he was more recently in Vikings (and that’s probably what got him the role in GoW) but, considering I haven’t watched that show, I will always hear Gerry Bertier from Remember the Titans when I hear Thor speak. Lol
It would be so much more powerful to hide a mechanic where the player can spare thor after putting him down twice and not killing him, and then odin just comes out of nowhere, calls him a useless sack of shit and kills him before starting the fight against you.
Thor was never really a bad guy, just a broken man being manipulated by his dad. It doesn’t excuse his actions but he could have done what he could to redeem himself
Kind of upset that they have mamir be the one to say that though considering with Heimdall he was the one trying to get kratos to stop, despite not giving kratos any choice.
They’re gonna bring him back. Mf Sindri had the brass balls and skills to go in and bring back his brother, they can go and find Thors soul. I don’t see why Thrud wouldn’t try, if anything, it’s probably on brand for her charge yet now that she has gone through a change
Thor was fighting off world serpent and Ragnarok. He hit him so hard that he sent him back in time. I don't think that's a usual day for Thor, plus he was drunk.
Considering you end up doing the same thing anyways, I think it would have been much cooler if the developers made this an alternative win con instead of just this dialogue. I personally think they could've done more with this game and it is such a shame
@@masonwright7700 the dialogue is lazy and you are treating it as something innovative. You don’t think an alternative win condition to the fight wouldn’t have been cool to have especially when it would’ve been fitting for Kratos and the story as a whole?
@@S0LAVELLANHELL lazy from the developers pov. They clearly could’ve done more with the mechanics of the game to make the fight actually seem like he doesn’t want to kill Thor but no, it’s just a straight fight gameplay wise and all we get to point out he doesn’t want to fight is him saying that, I am sorry but that is not that interesting. GOW has a history of puzzle bosses and they couldn’t use that to make Kratos shut Thor down with the environment to show how he doesn’t want to actually fight him?
Please tell me there's an infinity war reference in the game where if kratos throw's the axe at thor enough times thor will say, "shoulda gone for the head"!
Oooh interesting, a potential for depth in the gameplay and storytelling. Oh we have to attack him? We can't end it early? This is just the illusion of depth? Oh that sucks.
I wish thor would have died fighting Odin. Odin was the orchestrator of his suffering. I would really like a flashback of just how odin got thor to kill his kin the giants. Did he encourage him. Did he force him. Or did he promise him something. Either way while he is fighting thor you get a flashback to what happened. He decides he will make amends with atreues and fight with kratos. While he is fighting, Odin teleports behind the group and kills thor for betraying him and promises to kill everyone else as well. Everything else can play out the same way. I just wish all those times thor snuck up on Odin would have payed off.
No one in the Norse games have kept kratos in an enraged state. I'm still waiting for someone to give kratos a run for his money because he seems to be still leagues above em. Wanna see someone who he has to stay enraged for because holding back isn't good enough. Thor brought it out but only for a second and in the last fight he wasn't even pushed in the slightest-he bullied thor
Proof of KRATOS destroying ability, can be realized in ALL the prior games of GOD'S he eliminated. MUCH BIGGER AND STRONGER ONE'S THAN THOR..... No doubt, Kratos WAS holding back. The difference between an all out blood thirsty god, and a blood thirsty god tempered with great wisdom. ALL of his combined expieriences? Has molded him.... He? He??? was an raw OMEGA in his youth. He is NOW an ALFA by great experience.

I really hope they don't make the Egyptian pantheon a bunch of wusses like they did the Norse. Making them so weak because Kratos is older and hOld1Ng bACk is just lame as fuck writing. Thor has been hyped up since the og games and they made it so underwhelming. He didn't have to kill him but this was a let down from even Baldur's end fight

@@renatowilliam7580 1. What kind of insult or snarky remark was that? Whatever posessed you to say it, let it be known that it is an astoundingly pathetic one. 2. Definition of conversation: "a talk, especially an informal one, between two or more people, in which news and ideas are exchanged" (notice it *does not* say both parties contribute to the exchanging of ideas, etc. It's still a Convo as there are two people, one is recieving and the other is providing the news) 3. Potential rebuttal: /wouldn't that make it a dialogue then? Gotcha!/ Counterclaim; No, as the definition of a monologue is "a long speech by one actor in a play or movie" and "a long, tedious speech by one person during a conversation," neither of which describe the situation. 4. Final proof; the definition of dialogue is as follows (verb usage, where we can say Kratos is "dialogue -ing"): "take part in a conversation or discussion to resolve a problem." As I've cemented previously, it is not required that both parties vernally input. And using this definition of the word dialogue, *it is rational to say that this video does indeed portray a dialogue.* (i could go down the whole road of silence being an answer as, since Mimir is still talking to Kratos and not himself, there would both logically and lexically be two people involved in the conversation with Mimir sharing his ideas, and Kratos sharing his through silence, but I'm afraid it'd be too mentally strenuous for your poor soul) I apologize in advance for any typos, and I rest my case. 🥴
Imagine a touching moment, after finally standing up to his abusive manipulative father, Thor retaliates. Beats all the centuries of drinking and washing the pain away into Odin. All in an attempt to "Be. Better." A sick fight ensues where it's Odin vs Thor, Kratos, Atreus and Thrud, with Freya supporting. They all take turns not only stopping different methods of attack, but once cornered, they each stop him from retreating, pushing him deeper into a corner. THAT should have been where he killed Thor. It's meant for Kratos, but Thor is the only one fast enough to stop the attack, at the cost of his own life. Devastated, Thrud is enraged and quickly knocked unconscious by Odin, leaving the fight to Kratos, Atreus and Freya. Feel like Thor's death was far too lackluster. "Oof! Noooo.... anyway back to Kratos." Never even got to see the change in Thor besides a few seconds of dialog. Amazing game, that one bit just grinds my gears a bit tho.
@@SmartAss4123 True, but honestly I would've preferred that over what they did instead. The latter half of the game felt rushed, as if they were trying to convey so many things at once and ending up feeling like white noise.
@@SmartAss4123 not powerful. SMART. He manipulates and uses his grasp of everyone's mental states to play with their minds. Odin clones that at times transform into your allies while the real one is hiding and recovering and attempting to reposition. Stopping you from using a weapon, like locking down the axe or using a root spell to spawn growth that prevents draupnir from multiplying, hell maybe even take the entire fight to helheim via huginn/munnin or even destroy his house and have a wider more open field for Odin to use more of his magic and mind to manipulate. As weak as Odin is, he is still smart enough over compensate for his lack of strength with deception. I dunno I just feel it was possible you know?
@@devontesaunders4913 Its possible. Depends on the powers and if it can hold Thor and Kratos at the same time. I just dont think it would be. One of them pissed off can kill Odin. Having both of them feels like overkill. Especially Kratos. If he decides to let loose there is nothing that can stop him
One disappointment from the game was Thor and Freyrs deaths. It would've been amazing if Thor fought along side us even for a short battle. Odin could've summoned dozens of minions or even generals to even the fight. Imagine a tag team quick time event of Thor and Kratos. Then after a cinematic Odin kills Thor like he did her and we proceeded with the battle line normal.

The fact he disappears tells me he’s not truly gone. I mean why waste all that development in a single lunge of a spear? All the other Norse gods that were killed just die and their bodies remain lying there but not for Thor
@@josephstalin2606Yeah I can imagine that it may have been a small reward from the higher plane, giving him a chance to return someday. He honestly was in a better position than Kratos was when Kratos tried to be something else. Thor still had his wife and daughter who loved him deeply. Standing up to Odin and putting down the hammer put him honestly pretty close to Kratos, minus the future work hed need to do to fix that which he broke. Traveling with Atreus would have been cool, helpjng him rebuild Jotunnheim. Maybe bestow the hammer to his daughter to do good with it, cleansing it of a darker past. Would have been nice, but hopefully well see. Given how great the games have been im excited for more.
I would love if a boss fight would keep reseting if you finished them (some God of rebirth or resurrection or something) and the only way to win was to down them and show mercy like this. That'd be such a cool marriage of gameplay and story.
