As Valhalla teases many mythologies, it may be possible that a group of gods, from several pantheons, will get together to attack Kratos, considering him to be a menace to all gods, due to him overthrowing two pantheons, and being stronger than ever.
That’s a theory I’ve had been thinking about for a year now! Imagine the chief gods of their pantheons in one room together: Amun-Ra, Amaterasu, Kukulkan and the Dagda all conspiring to overthrow “the destroyer of fate” and the “champion of the Jotnar”. And interestingly, what if Atreus/ Loki is given various derogatory terms from these gods that are actual names of other gods in myth. Like Amun-Ra would refer to Atreus as Set, Amaterasu would call Atreus the Susanoo no Mikoto, Kukulkan would call him Maxímon and Dagda would referring to Atreus as Lugh. All associated with trickery and deception.
Or Kratos could simply show up in another land to get hunted down by their respective Gods because they're scared of what Kratos could potentially do to them based on the stories they've heard about Greece and the 9 realms
I would love to see what happens when the nine realms get invaded by a god of war that was on the same path as kratos but didn't stop with his own pantheon and aims to destroy all God's. I think that would push kratos a last time to the limits
I totally could see Jesus doing that, slauthering every pantheon to steal their follower and transfer theirs belief into his own religion. Definitly a threat that the news nordic god of war would have to face.
@@nekomiaoutrue but Kratos fighting Jesus Christ would make people in religion very upset as they make Jesus look like the bad guy and kratos the good guy.
Egypt is very possible. When they were deciding which mythology to go with for God of War 2018, it came down to Egyptian and Norse, and it was a 50/50 split among the development team and it was Cory Barlog who ultimately decided to go with Norse because it fit the story better. Also, Kratos briefly went to Egypt in the Fallen God comic (assuming that is in fact canon), which takes place in the time span between God of War III and the 2018-19 comic series (which that one takes place shortly before the 2018 game). And then of course all the hints like the ones mentioned in your video.
I personally Doubt that’s where he’s going. He already has went to Egypt.. If you remember the “scribe” he met in Egypt said his purpose there was finished when he defeated those two monsters for that village. Athena & the Crane God of Egypt convinced him to help. He’s the God of war for the Norse realm now after Valhalla with a lot of work to do cleaning up the realms along side his soon to be queen. He’s not on a quest to kill all the Gods. They made that clear in the new DLC he’s a changed person. “The God Of Hope”
I say fellas that God of War Franchise is looking pretty dam bright, with a lot of locations, Greece, Mexico, Egypt, Japan etc im just glad that the Franchise won't end anytime soon
I believe that due to their history of having largely diverse settings in the previous games, and that they have given us hints to multiple lands, we may be travelling across all of them.
It would certainly be a huge undertaking having to balance our multiple different mythologies at once, but if done right it could be a badass way of sending off the series
@@pancakes8670I disagree I wouldn’t want them to have all of those pantheons in one game. IMO Ragnarok felt a little rushed and it would feel extremely rushed to have Egyptian, Celtic, and Japanese all in one. I hope they treat this next saga with patience and not rush it like the Norse.
@prettymurch426 it wasn't rushed to begin with it was never meant to be trilogy they only wanted to make two games because they didn't want to spend another 5 years making another game in the same setting but they sure did cut out some scenes because they didn't want the game to be as long as AC FREAKING VALHALLA which was WAAAAAAY too long and unnecessary
The Norse mythology was very obviously meant to be a trilogy. Why they decided to cram the last two games into one is absolutely insane to me. Ragnarok was meant to be a GIGANTIC event but was portrayed as a 1 hour battle against enemies and 2 bosses. Ragnarok itself should have been its own game entirely, exactly how they did with GOW3 in taking down Mt. Olympus.
Cory Barlog said he didn’t want the team to spend around 15 years of development for the norse saga. Since 2018+ragnarok were both in development for 5 years I can see why they would want to move on.
There’s a panel in Tyrs vault from GOW2018 that has a panel of him at the 3 different lands where he got the 3 different weapons. Idk why nobody talks about this.
What if Atreus goes to Egypt and Japan. Kratos goes to Greece and Mimir's Homeland or 1st to Mimir's Homeland and Mimir will stay and tell Kratos I have no more council to offer and Kratos travels to Greece on his own.
I was thinking the same thing. Atreus with a katana would be more fitting. I mean he got the build just need a bit more muscle. Kratos coming to his homeland to restore and and helping mimic in his would be brilliant.
Bro no one is going to Egypt get over it ! The DLC told you the direction they are going it’s not on a quest to kill all the gods. He’s the “God of Hope” not god slayer.
I don’t care where it goes I just love god of war so much! I would just be happy to play a new god of war in a new settings!! But thanks for the content.
The thing about these new mythologies is the fact that each of them have stories yes, but like how often can he go to a new mythology and want to “avoid” war until he’s dragged in, plus with how long the games take, if we are going to Aztec, Japanese, and Egyptian, and the Norse saga apparently took 10 years since the first game was back in 2018, and took 5 years and ragnarok came out in 2022, meaning two games took 10 years, so with Egyptian, Aztec, and Japanese myths would take like 30+ years to finish
I could be wrong, but I think the idea to develop the Norse games came much later after the Greek ones ended, so they mustve started working on it later making me think it wouldnt really have taken 10 years, but you do have a point setting up a whole new area could take a lot of time
They've definitely set it up for that. Between her, Atreus, and hell even Sindri, there are a bunch of characters that'll easily come back if not the main character.
naa. santa monica aint got the employee size nor the time and money to be worrying about making games for spin off characters lol the next game will probs be atreus which will take em a few years and each god of war game takes like 4-5 years. u hear cory always talk about the stress and time it takes to make each game.@@sizablekoala6879
Give us God of Mischief as a spin off ala Miles Morales. Let us play an anti hero cunning Loki. Atreus battles his duality of a kind kid and a mischievous god.
Considering that macahuatl spews fire, that's xiucoatl, the Aztec weapon the god of war used to slay his sister and uncountable siblings to create the sun and the stars
Dont know if you will see this or not but my theory is that the next game will start in norse but end up in the aztec pantheon because kratos already agreed to help rebuild and watch over the nine realms as the god of war/hope. I think that the aztecs will attack midgard since the aztecs have multiple warriors and was known for attacking others. And i also believe that if we do get a spin off game about loki i feel as if he will go back in time he will be the one that blown the horn for jormi and he will end up going the greec to learn more of the gods of his fathers home land
To be honest, I wish they brought back T.C. Carson to play as Kratos again. (If those who finished or know the ending will know what I am referring to)
2:20 you forgot to mention that the pyramids are there because in a comic kratos did, after destroying olympus, went to egypt to escape the blades of chaos.
Honestly to see kratos in celtic, Egypt, Aztec & Japanese mythology or just to see him go back to greece would be badass to see in future games and how the devs will make the other gods look
Hell no. Let the guy retire for fuck’s sake. The last thing I want see is this old man curb stomping Egyptian gods into paste. They are way overdue for a reboot with a new character and new mechs. At this point he should be nothing more than a DLC character in another game.
@@Zetler Maybe not a reboot but the next story starts off with a different character with a god of war title behind it perhaps. Kratos being far far away minding his own business and having nothing to do with this new plot.
I think they need to do more with the "Rift." With the proper plot you could actually have it so Kratos can visit multiple pantheons in a single game. I like the idea that Atreus comes back with some giants after like six months and they know more about the rift.
Just throwing this out there....next game goes to Egypt. The name of kratorls has spread as he has defeated 2 god pantheons. Egyptian gods don't like that they were around far before the Norse or the Greek. They challenge him where he has to learn their ways to defeat them and he shows them their place in the bigger picture...I'm thinking 2 games aleast. Major antagonist would be Ra, Osiris, and Anubis
I personally Doubt that’s where he’s going. Kratos already went to Egypt..
@@marcelousneal4641 then i am guessing either egypt pantheon will invade or different pantheons come together and invade and try and take kratos out and this is where kratos shines.
Japan or Egypt should be their focus as they would be far more popular and gain more interest then Mayan or Aztec mythology, Im mean you just have to imagine Kratos fighting Set or Anubis or Amaterasu or Hachiman.
@@David-nq8cv He was passing through and he met one god he had one conversation with. Santa Monica even said they had a hard time deciding between Egypt and Scandinavia and eventually chose Scandinavia, so Egypt being next makes sense.
Whenever they get around to Japan I really hope Kratos and or Atreus get to wield some of the legendary swords from both their mythology and actual history like the sword Kusanagi that Susanoo gifted to Amaterasu or the Masamune made by one of the greatest swordsmiths
I really hope God of War doesn't do a Japanese myth game next. We have a ton of Samurai like games (next year alone). People pretend like Egyptian mythology is overplayed, but apart from strategy games and lame movies the only time we've explored it properly is in AC Origins. I would love Aztec Mythology too. Egypt and Mexico would suit God of War and its saga of bloody gods far more than Japan (also more creative freedom for SSM since both Egyptian and Aztec religion are not practiced anymore and thus no chance to offend anyone unlike Japanese religion)
I wish that each god was explained as an aspect of the same god in different pantheons. It would explain how god's could travel between mythologies or even take up a position in a foreign pantheon.
A zen samurai like Kratos would be perfect. If there is a spin off game with Atreus I would hope that we get to keep all of the side characters around to also continue their stories. If Kratos is in a new setting I would hope we at least get to keep Mimir with him
It’s honestly a toss up. While yes kratos has been to Egypt in the comic. It’s also said he’s learned and encountered the god of Egypt. Old kratos pre Norse. Had a different mindset. Maybe now with his new found resolve as the god of hope. Maybe he remembers the Egyptian gods and how corrupt they are. So the next GoW kratos goes to Egypt to purge the land of these corrupt gods so the people of that land can rebuild kinda what’s happening in Greece. While yes it’s possible Egypt won’t happen. It not out of the picture and really does make sense why he’d go back 🤔
It’d be cool to see Kratos vs the Hachiman in Japanese mythology, they got a lot of cool gods and creatures that can build up another great GoW game. I also think that Egypt should be the last realm they’ll face off against since it’s the third well known mythology as Greek mythology and Norse mythology. Wouldn’t really make sense to dive into another well known mythology and finish last with a least known mythology.
Furthermore, according to mimir, th gods of egypt are good guys who govern w/ great wisdom n humility, just like th mayan gods encountered by tyr. Kratos would haven't reason to fight them
I was replaying ragnarok and Mimir mentioned how in order to get the armies of Helheim to fight the bird of Helheim asked for a replacement cause it wants to retire if we get an Atreus spin off game maybe one of his adventures lead him to the birth of Hel
you basically just explained why the egyptian gear made sense in universe. we already knew that, doesn’t mean they couldn’t be hinting at an egypt setting
They can give Kratos the more well know weapons of each culture, but i think they should consider some lesser know weapons. For the Japanese mythos i dont think they would give Kratos the well know Katana. I think either a Zanbato (horse slaying sword) or maybe the Nagamaki (long hilted sword). If not a blade maybe Testubo (iron warclub). Egypt maybe the Battle axe (the curved blade on TOP of the pole), but the Kopesh is so iconic it will fall to that. Celtic were know for their bronze sword and shield so that is also highly likely. With Aztec i can also only think of the Macuahitl or the Ball Club. There are other Pantheons we can consider but will not appear in the setting because they are either too similar (example: Roman pantheon) or not well know (example: Gaellic)
At the Greece part of the roguelike run, there are two extra areas you can go to. One is The Aegean Sea, a apocalyptic dried-up seabed with a Greek boat. The other is a desert, with pyramids and sandstone plinths. The next location is Egypt.
if the next pantheon is in asia. Then they better explore the concept of martial arts. Since he is the god of war or hope (now), He should at least explore the concept of the beauty of martial forms. Martial arts in essence is not simply a way to decimate others but master one's self as well. With martial arts you truly understand who you are and what you are capable of and that to be implemented in the next game must happen. In real life Martial arts humbles people, even though his experiences already did the same, he could use martial arts as a way to appreciate being the god of war instead of being reminded of his sins.
With Kratos' character arc completed a spinoff game could maybe find the room to spend more time on Atreus. Kratos could be the final boss of such a game. It'd fit the story, they are telling, but I still do worry how Atreus would work as a lead character.
my theory is that the next god of war will still take place in Europe and i think this because of one character: Skjoldr. a mortal, hinted by the game to be a future king. There is also an old king called Skjolrd who rules during the first centuries of the Christian age (Anno Domini, or A.D.), so the romans are still in italy with their empire. maybe the next game visits not only rome, but also parts of the Celtic territories or the occupied Egipt.
While i love the japanese mythology i dont think its a good setting for the next game. That region is kinda crowded with upcoming games like Ac, ronin and ghost 😅 a mayan one would be more unique
This IP can provide them two titles running side by side, loki and God Of War. Combine them together and they can have Endgame like showdown down the line.
Kratos have two more stops and i think they teased it in tyrs vault in the 2018 one where we saw the symbol Ω and a Japanese one a norse one and a Egyptian one cant wait
personally i believe next one will be greek again, but not playing with kratos, but with atreus, just think about it, what better place to hide for the giants than a realm what lost all its gods?
There’s a giant idea in real life that the Greek gods went to Egypt after their lands were destroyed by typhon hermes and Thoth are the same being or something along those lines and with that idea it got me thinking that maybe the giants fled the nine realms to Egypt in order to his like the Greek gods did in real life myths it would be cool to get a msg from Atreus that he needs our help and the only way to get to what ever Pantheon he’s at is by going back thru Greece which would give us a chance to see what happen in the years to come after kratos destroyed it and we could get hints that Atreus travelled thru Greece seeing and hearing what his father did in his rage filled youth so basically the plot is faints fled the realms to hide in Egypt but got into some trouble with the gods there aswell forcing them to move to another pantheon I would love to see the mimirs land what has happen to Greece since kratos left and what the riff means
If it's Asian myth, I'd love it to be with Atreus being the Wukong of the myth just as Kratos was Farbauti in the Norse arc. Kratos could be the Bishamon. XD
This question might sound dumb but I swear the only reason kratos has no access to his magic is because Greece was destroyed. With them rebuilding it would it then bring back his old abilities.
@@JustaKevenYeah I wonder why he still can't have access to his old magic. The ashes are still on his skin which means that greek magic still kinda works on him
It's not Asian mythology, it's specifically Japanese mythology. You have any idea how little the phrase "Asian mythology" narrows it down? There's a lot of them. The Japanese pantheon, Takagamahara, has been hinted at several times in the new games. The murals on the elevator walls and the Tomoe on the wooden panel (the 3 6-shaped swirls). I'd rather see that, than Egypt. Egypt has been done before.
I dont understand why they wont make a game about Kratos in Eygypt shortly after he left Greece D: doesnt make any sense to make him travel now after Ragnarok, to another realm
So I just found out the Valhalla DLC is part of a DLC EXPANSION!!! Santa Monica senior writer, Orion Walker, teased that there's even more God of War to come following the release of the free Valhalla, tweeting "You really think the credits are the end of the story? C'mon. C'mon now." So the free update is the beginning of a final DLC story of the Norse Saga that will connect with Kratos's next journey to the River Empire of the Egyptian Pantheons. What I speculate is that we will get Thrud as a companion, Forseti being the last Aesir villain after surviving Ragnarok, a new big location to explore, and a 4th weapon with one or two armor sets to unlock. And there might also be some new rewards updated into Valhalla, maybe even a skin of becoming Deimos like in GoW3 since we can now turn Kratos into the OG God of War! And possibly unlocking the Darkdale and Risen Armor set too!
I still hope they go to Egypt and not Japan because with Ghost of Tsushima 2 on the way, there's already enough content involving samurais and feudal Japan. They could set up Egypt while making the comic book cannon b/c young Kratos more likely than not, caused havoc in Egypt and would be only right for mature Kratos to go back and make things right. Same thing could be said about Greece, but if mature Kratos goes back, he could be fighting Roman gods (which are basically greek gods with different names). Im indifferent about Mayan mythology, dont know much about it besides they did actual human sacrafices lol.
I think, while being a bold move, they should make an entirely new IP. After what most likely would be a game centered around Atreus what more could they do? Possibly another sequel following Atreus but after all that comes to a resting point, I feel that making a sort of spinoff mainline title would be a really cool idea. Introduce a new character with a whole new story that's set in another mythology where the first game has very very minimal nods to God of War and really hammers down in the game that follows would be kinda insane. Something like this would probably take decades to come to fruition but I think it would make sense if they wanted to make something new in the foundations of God of War. Also Christopher Judge coming back as Kratos in a surprise appearance would also be really sick.
Next game should be, after Kratos took down 2 Pantheon, this sends alarming alert to other Pantheon, afraid of Kratos rise to attack them, so they attack Kratos first, i want to see Kratos vs Anubis, Susanoo, some Mayan Gods, and a wild card, from untouched region of Pantheon God chalenger excited by Kratos existence, rumors from his land nontherless exited him, the only God that can give him the beating of Life time Wu Kong, Wu kong so strong that Kratos has to make allience with foreign God, battle throught the Pantheon (like they bouncing in multivers in some sort) ended up only able to imprisoned him, in some mountain, which could be in dlc or easter egg, Kratos or Atreaus heard Wu Kong is free but they suprised instead of hunting them Wu Kong is travel with some Monk, awesome end for GOW i say🔥🔥🔥
Please, someone help me with the Purification Rond, so far I haven't found it in the Valhalla DLC and there is nothing on RU-vid that shows how to get this item.
I once had a dream that I saw Kratos scaling a 200 foot wall and he was fighting 14 foot tall creatures with the legs of a man but the legs and foot or talon of an eagle and the chest was a man but the face was eagle… there were gigantic waterfalls in a hot dusty landscape filled with sand… what a beautiful dream that is… and perhaps maybe soon it will be a reality 🙌🏾
Either Atreus gets in some crap in Egypt or Japan kratos hand will be forced again to defend his child, keep his vow to his late wife and try to avoid war as a norse council member but a fathers love is a fathers love
As much as I love the God of War games, I wish they’d stop. These games are essentially becoming 80s horror films. They’re going to keep making these games until people get sick of them just as people are getting sick of Star Wars and Marvel movies.
Asia seems like the most likely next game, but will Atreus even be part of it? Granted, GoW 2018 was a much better game than Rag for me, so much so that I haven't even bothered replaying Rag and would likely replay GoW 2018 again instead. Besides the less linear progression in the 2018 game, the relationship and combat with Atreus made the game standout. I doubt an adult Atreus with god powers would feel as special in the next game. Rebooting Kratos at a different time and place with a different relationship seems the most likely, but it is also tricky as dropping several characters players are invested in might make fans angry. If we see another DLC with Atreus for Rag then that would answer that question.
