You beat your ass it does... Elden ring alone is soo good in terms of music that it far surpasses the generic mainstream media garbage We have today.. most people listen to garbage.. I listen to elden ring.. we are not the same.
-Muscular as hell -Constantly has a beast on his back -Causes tremors by taking a step -Can tear you appart -Shatters the earth with his bare hands -Is just a human, not a demigod or anything of the sort -Weapon barely scales with strength, whywhywhywhywhywhywhywhy
His weapon desperately needs a buff and scale change. This thing should scale at least an A strength, D in Dex makes sense since Godfrey does maneuver with the axe and such.
@@soully9568 I'd say this even applies to most Colossal Weapons! They're huge, slow, but barely scale in damage for some reason. But here, yeah. I'd be happy with at least an A, but not a damn C.
Got super excited when I first beat him, not only because I had so much fun, but because, finally a boss weapon that would be major Strength scaling. It would've been perfect for the build I had which was strength-faith donning rugged regal armors with fur, bestial incantations that use the earth to attack enemies. I then upgrade the weapon to +10 before realizing it was only a C scaling with strength, a D in dex. As such my 80 Str build bestows only 782 Attack Rating to it, whereas Longshaft Axe and Gargoyle's Halberd have 792, and 812 Respectively. Not to mention I'm able to buff them, while Axe of Godfrey cannot be buffed. Nonetheless still love the weapon, if you haven't tried making a build for it, I would definitely recommend as much, even without much scaling it's one of my favorite weapons in all of Elden Ring. Edit: About the buffs, I forgot Regal Roar buffs the weapon getting it up to 866, but Vyke's Dragonbolt gets my Halberd to 889 so still is outdamaged unfortunately on this build.
@@avidsatanist Fighting both versions of Godfrey was definitely the most fun I've had fighting a boss in a game! Really cool lad! I was also a paladin before I realised this game hates strength and faith, seeing as Malenia is nigh-impossible to crit after breaking her posture with a Colossal Weapon, as well as Elden Beast healing from holy damage. I've decided to go full strength now! The damage from Godfrey's Axe is still not much, but it's getting better! I've been steadly levelling my dexterity on the side, since I don't think I need anything beyond 70 strength. Hopefully I can use it for NG+, I only have the Lichdragon and the Dragonlord left to kill!
The fact Godfrey doesn't talk down to you, doesn't call you foul or weak or unworthy, he openly admits that you're a mighty warrior, if you made it this far, it wasn't by being cowardly and stupid. And when you beat him he keeps it up, saying your strength is that of a Lord much like him
Horoah loux is a tarnished like us and a true warrior, it makes sense that he wouldnt look down on his opponent, especially a fellow tarnished who has made it this far
I also feel like by making Godfrey this late a boss in the game it is also perhaps Fromsoft telling everybody that they did a good job making it this far.
@@loftwingheropon2743 Funny enough, Godfrey likely knew about Marika's intention. He left the lands between to get stronger, as she wished. Marika's plan was to slay the Elden beast, Godfrey didn't care much for the golden order so he agreed.
@@wewuzkangz2505 Unfortunately, the game makes it clear that either Marika, Fingers or Elden Beast itself withdrew the grace from him as soon as he had fulfilled his purpose by defeating all contenders that could seriously threaten the Erdtree.
@@matiasluukkanen7718 There is a rememberance of Marika where she openly tells Godfrey she's sending him out to grow stronger, that she'll give him back the Grace of Gold at some point and that he should then come back to wield the Elden Ring. They planned it between themselves from the start.
We've traveled the land, fought beasts of unspeakable horrors, defeated demi-gods and battled dragons, the journey has all brought us to this very moment, to face nothing but a man, a man that broke the world in half, a man who tamed the horrors in their days of prime and was crowned the first elden lord. Now we stand before not just a mortal man but a man shrouded in legend and myth. Not a mindless beast, a corrupted demi-god, or a faithless cur, we stand before Godfrey, the man who tamed the world through strength and his unbreakable will, we stand before Hoarah Loux, WARRIOR!
Th fact that he didn't become a mindless monster when Marika disgraced him and made him the first Tarnished really speaks volumes for Godfrey's will. He didn't fall to darkness or become enraged. Instead, he made a new life for himself as Hoarah Loux and came back countless years later when the Site of Grace came back to him... when the Greater Will finally needed a puppet again... but he wouldn't be made one again. Instead, he'd stand against you, in your way. Not to stop you from becoming Elden Lord, but to see your strength and will, to know that you have a chance against the Greater Will and those who vehemently stand by it, for if you can handle the strongest man alive, a man who has SLAIN GODS, then you'll surely be able to slay gods yourself.
"I've given thee courtesy, enough" is the most badass line in the game, so much fucking testosterone bro. It's like when Margit says "Well, thou'rt of passing skill" they're acknowledging your strength and as such actually start trying and it's so fucking cool each time
It’s been a long while, Morgott. Long and hard didst thou fight. Tarnished Warrior. Spurned by the grace of gold. Be assured the Elden Ring, resteth close at hand. Alas, I am Returned. To be Granted Audience once more. Upon my name as Godfrey, the First Elden Lord.
@@Randybobandy024 Margit credits the player’s skill when Phase 2 starts, but to be fair, that seemed like it was more out of arrogance and patronization. Kinda like a “looks like i’m gonna have to use more than 2% of my power” type of thing.
@@enjoyer2227 yeah Margit/morgott never respects us genuinely More like wow you really made me stand up and do work. Especially when he says (morgott 2nd phase transition) "thy part in this shall not be forgiven" The way he says it seems like he truely hates and despites us. Nothing but garbage which needs to be removed
The fact he still gives the player respect even after holding his dying son, knowing that they were the ones who killed him, shows how much of a chad Godfrey really is
The thing I love about this track is that it doesn't feel like a person's BGM, it sounds like the song you'd hear in a movie when the main character is witnessing a weather pattern so hostile it can only be described as an Act of God as it tears through a city and destroys everything. And then you see Godfrey fight, and you're like "no, yeah, still fits this guy."
Crazy to think that if we didn't appear this mad man would kick Radagon and Elden Beast's ass and become Elden Lord once more. And even though we stopped him, he recognize our strength, what a Chad.
Me after being brutalized by the whole arena quaking and running for my life: …..that’s courtesy? Then Phase 2 starts and I immediately get power bombed into Godwyns corpse
In a game full of demons, dragons, vampires, werewolves, literal aliens and gods, one of it's best fights is against this slab of pure manliness, no magic, no fancy enchantments, no special abilities, just a brick wall of a human who conquered the world with nothing but his own two hands and the strength to crack the earth in half
@@crestfallenwarrior5719 as a matter of fact I have. 6 times. As much as I love it cause it's really a great game, it feels like Fromsoftware were getting a little burnt out when designing the other half of the game after fighting Morgott, cause the sudden difficulty spike at giant mountain And the utter trash of the Godskin duo is seriously grating
@@crestfallenwarrior5719 apologies, o was slightly exaggerating, I always called the sanguine nobles Vampires since their whole obsession with killing so they can take your blood to grow stronger and Blaaid since he's a giant wolf man
@@cinders5305 What you wrote seemed very generic, so i just assumed you wanted to take on the role as a Souls Gamer. You played this game 6 times and you dont even know the names the enemies? I think its my 3rd playthrough and i can almost even tell you where every enemy stands, lol. But then again, im Level 130 on my recent playthrough and i havent even challenged fake Godfrey. I explore very thoroughly.
I like to think that the reason his axe is destroyed is not due to his strength, but because of his inability to use it. Godfrey became elden lord while fighting in his bare handed form and only switched to using an axe and having Serosh because Hoarah Loux really doesn't fit the image of a king. Serosh is there to calm his bloodlust and the axe is just a slightly less barbaric way to fight than bare hands. This means that he doesn't care about fighting etiquette and doesn't have an actual combat style. He just smashes the axe to the ground, like he does in game in the first phase.
First time fighting this guy while Elden ring being my first souls game, he was genuinely fun to go against. - Isn't cheesy like Malekith or the Duo - Commends you not once, but twice, and sees you as someone who is worth exerting effort on. - You can fight him head on so as long as you can manage your stamina to dodge and attack. - Is a normal human, Tarnished, who's just built different. Overall he's probably the most fun bosses you can go toe-to-toe with in Elden Ring.
I would not say he's entirely not cheesy. That AoE spam is REALLY annoying and ruins what is otherwise an awesome and challenging fight. He didn't do it so much, it would be a much better fight, but he seems to do it almost CONSTANTLY once you get him down to 70% health, and the worst part is that it covers THE ENTIRE ARENA. Otherwise, I really like his character and fight.
He, by far, is one of my favorite fights. You're fighting a legend itself and for not only the title of elden lord but honor. Even he respects you after he is killed. Talk about good sportsmanship.
This song is like a dance. It has the rhythm and pulse of a kind of warrior’s waltz, and the fight between us and Godfrey in his first phase really feels dance-like. Then he casts all the pleasantries aside to throw mad hands at us.
Marika: "Babe come over" Godfrey: "I can't, you kinda took away my grace and banished my entire people" Marika: "The next Elden Lord candidate has arrived and you're about to get NTR'd" Godfrey:
Malenia: Demi-goddess of rot Radahn: Demi-god, conqueror of the stars Rennala: Queen of the full moon Rykard: Demi-god, lord of blasphemy Morgott: Demi-god, the last king Mohg: Demi-god, the lord of blood Radagon: God, the current reigning Elden Lord Godfrey: Just another Tarnished like you.
When you think about it, Godrick is this guy's hype man. Same white braided hair, big axe, extra attachments on back. Godrick really is trying to live up to Godfrey.
That's why he weilds a axe with Serosh on it , trying to live up to his lineage also his grafting the dragon was him trying to be like Goldwyn cause Goldwyn tamed and befriended a dragon , also the forefathers bare witness is telling Godfrey and Goldwyn look at me now
@@JuanRodriguez-vd1bg I’m a staunch fan of Godrick. Say what you will, yes he was a depraved old fool, but his admiration for Godfrey and Godwyn is 100% justified and totally admirable, even for someone like Godrick
@@loneshinobi2682 Game lampshades with Giant Crusher that modern generation of humans in Lands Between have turned on each other, and consequently have become much weaker than the ancient men like Godfrey. So Godrick fits this idea perfectly, feeble son trying to live up to legacy of his legendary forbears and not taken seriously by other people, even Kenneth talking behind his back. Godrick sadly peaks with his dragon arm momentarily, just before we cut him down. I really like Godrick myself, and it is bit dissapointing that we can´t interact with him and other Shardbearers nearly as much as we do with Ranni.
This! The first phase was soo epic and the great axe moves, the lion on the shoulder omg all is perfect. the second is cool but I prefer a classic warrior lord than a brawler giant xD
What i like about this fight is that Godfrey faces you at the last possible moment in your journey. Cut dialogue seems to imply he was onto Marika's plan to break the elden ring, so if he is truly in support of the golden order is up for debate. But we do know one thing he wants more than anything is a worthy opponent to fight. So he waits right before the end of our quest where we will be at our strongest. And when he is defeated, he congratulates us and says we're worthy of becoming lord.
I imagine the crucible knights being yeeted out from the capital by Godfrey after they fail to do the stomp "Thou shall learn again in thy next age! *Yeet*"
Jokes aside his line of "A crown is warranted with strength" is really inspirational for me. I always knew that I would only reach my goals in life by gaining not physical strength but strength of character. The strength to persevere and not give up on ones's dream, I really treasure that thought. After all... In the days of old a crown was warranted with strength
Watching the cutscene is a necessity for me specifically for 0:08 because the chorus goes silent, while the instruments create some build up and when the dark screen finishes loading godfrey attacks and the chorus comes back again.
Of all the Demi-gods, the one that’s a “true” warrior is simply just a man. a REAL man with a strength build. Instead of powering up and going crazy like the others, he tosses the armor off and goes ham. “AND ITS HOARAH LOUX WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!”
Godfrey just gives me gym vibes. Is too funny to watch him literally lifting the ground, causing immense shockwaves and using that huge axe like it's lighter than a toothpick
weird concept i thought of is that you and him go take on radagon and the elden beast but after the battle you fight each other to see who really becomes elden lord. tbf though the concept id pretty flawed in some manners but i think itd be cool to fight with godfrey.
I have fought every boss in every souls game except sekiro (and tbh, I don’t count sekiro as a souls game, it’s quite it’s seperate thing imo) And this guy is top 5 material quite easily. And that for a base game boss is absolutely immaculate 🫶 His voicelines, the entire fight (I slightly preferred the order, yet continuous pressure in phase 1 vs the chaotic pressure in phase 2), the OST, the ambience, everything just WORKS. If only it wasn’t followed up with the lackluster elden beast. Don’t get me wrong, elden beast is still pretty solid. But compared to Radagon & Chadfrey, Elden Beast just feels disappointing 😭
Best boss in the entire game, no fancy, anime-shit type of moves like Malenia or Maliketh, just a absolute chad with a giant axe, the fight itself is well telegraphed and gives you many openings for punishment, classic souls boss formula
no you are far from right but today everyone seems to play either op or summon so who is a guy with longsword trying to get trough these bs aoe combo chains :p
@@jonasfadi8213 I meant like maybe it gives Godfrey a temporary buff or it gives you a temporary debuff the only thing it gives is a more intimidating look
@@spookytown7963 I was mainly thinking of it giving something like warcry to Godfrey and giving you a attack debuff or defense debuff because I think the aoe thing is phase 2 and the cutscene sends it to phase 3
God this sounds so badass. I learned to dodge a lot of his attacks just so I can stay in phase 1, listening to this. It took me 121 tries to kill him, though. dammit, Hoarah Loux! XD
My favorite moment of the entire game was slow-walking towards him, and he slow-walked towards me, and we were very nearly in each other's faces before he finally raised his axe to attack.
Long and hard didst thou fought, tarnished warrior. Spurned, by the grace of gold. Rest assured, the Elden ring resteth close at hand. Alas, I have returned, to seek audience once more. By my name as Godfrey, the first Elden Lord
If you want to know what they lyrics for that part are, they are Hedo patu pinose Pito prate na pa To pi itu femito It doesn't translate into nothing...
They are tho... Margit, Godrick and Rennala - Early Game Rykard, Radahn, Astel, Mohg, Morgott and Fortissax - Mid Game Fire Giant, Maliketh, Malenia, Placidusax, Godfrey and Radagon/Elden Beast - Late Game Then there are also great and decent Boss/Mini Boss encounters between them
@@Ryuxun fire giant is a great but easy fight. Malenia is one of the best bosses from soft ever made (she teaches you that you have to git gud, no way around it) and Elden beast is one of the most visually jaw droping bosses ever
He was the only one that truly loved Morgott, even though literally everyone else including the Erdtree itself hates/is terrified of him because he's an Omen. He's the only one that truly lays Morgott to rest after you defeat him. He gives respect even to his enemies if they are strong enough to challenge him. I'd say he's prime dad material
