Hour of Devastation lore is here and we have the latest chapter! The Hour of Glory has come, the God-Pharaoh has made his promised return but nothing seems right. Even the mighty Gods of Amonkhet sense that the Hours have gone wrong. The world is introduced to three new, forgotten Gods.. those of bugs. The Scorpion God comes to challenge Amonkhet, forcing Rhonas the Indomitable to protect the mortals of the city. This battle between immortal Gods is titanic with an outcome as shocking as the Scorpion Gods arrival.

It´s interesting though, that a being brought to life by faith would die anyway. As far as I remember the gods of Theros where beings that live through the belief of their people. The gods in Ahmonkhet can´t be far of from this principle of how a god brought into existence. So there are 2 questions. How can a god defenetly die when he still has believers and how could the 3 forgotten gods survive and come back even stronger if their completely forgotten. I mean even for pre mending Bolas that would have been a big thing to do, but as far as we know he came there after the mending right or at least close to the mending?

I want Rhonas to return as an eternal having found worthy and then killed due to being found worthy. I know that Rhonas turned dissenter last but lazotep can mind control him and he is the strongest god so bolas wouldn't just leave him dead. Anyway he will be a zombie due to the curse of wandering

Cynochroma hoping for Hazoret, the card "hazorets undying fury" depicting her fight with the scorpion god. By now I want the scorpion god fucking permadead, and it seems like Hazoret will kill it, or at least she is the only god of the cycle to be "undying" rather than "last".

I was legit sad when I read this story. Rhonas was my favorite too. I find it interesting that he was know as the indomitable, which means "impossible to subdue" and was killed in a "trial" or strength. SPOILER FOR THE NEWEST STORY BELOW! the same goes for Kefnet "the mindful" which can mean attentive to. he was wrecked as soon as he stopped paying attention to the Scorpion God. And Oketra "the true" who is the God of Solidarity was killed trying to protect others. I love that they are using the God's defining characteristics to destroy them. it's pretty well thought out and interesting. way to go WotC 10/10

This chapter got me deeply in the feels. Rhonas was my favorite of the gods, and not just because I tend to play Green. Green always seems to get the Worf Effect put on it, in cards and lore. (From my limited viewings of protour the power cards always seem to be Blue, White and then Black. No Gruul love.) I guess when you have the big creatures everyone wants to smack you down. At least he went down in an epic showdown.

Its nice when story and gameplay mechanics meet,Gods are indestructible but will die to enough -1/-1 counters while the hour of devistation gods who can be killed do return just as easy,Both have the same weakness exile or my personal favourite way to deal with indestructible/ returning creatures turn them into a tree.

its sad about rhonas ; ; on an interesting note, the 'last' card for hazoret does not imply she actually dies! in fact, there was a leak of the art-book on reddit today, which apparently implies she lives through nicol bolas'es deception!
