And Barry didn't realize all he needed to do was remind Godspeed what would happen if he screwed up his past. The Allen family is well familiar with people erasing the existence of others. Barry could have just told him "Hey... Destroy our world. You can't or else you'll be changing your own past and erasing your own existence." That alone should have made Godspeed rethink his life choices.
