I prefer the fusions BEFORE the retcon. The way the fusions worked seemed fine to me: Potara was a stronger fusion but was permanent which meant that using them was a huge gamble and the fusion dance was weaker and had a time limit but could be used more loosely granted that you performed the dance correctly. But now that BOTH Of THEM have a timer then what's the damn point? Like who cares that Potara is stronger? It's harder to pull off since now you need the consistent help of the Kais to provide a set of earrings in order to use that fusion method, meanwhile the fusion dance can be performed at literally any point and doesn't require the need of outside help constantly supplying you with magical god earrings. Not to mention how easy the Potaras are to destroy which limits their usage even more.

Another point for vegito is during the buuhan fights,he notes that even if goku and vegeta do fusion,it won’t be enough to beat him,along with MANY scenes just saying potara fusion is stronger

The rival boost definitely applies to Vegito and Gogeta because its the same two people and the explanation old kai gives about the rival boost pertains to Goku/Vegeta, not the potara itself

I always interpreted them as relative equals power-wise, but Potara is a way easier and stable method. We've seen what happens when the Dance isn't *pixel-perfect*. You lose an entire hour of possibly saving the universe.

Fusion also has a shorter time limit with higher energy use, Gotenks defused early and it was said it was because of ssj3 (I think the time was cut in half).

I rate Gogeta more, and even though I would like to believe that line that they are basically equal... logically, Vegito will have a slight advantage. With Potara, you just clip them on. With the Dance, you gotta match each other's max power. So if Goku is stronger than Vegeta or vice versa, that difference would play a huge factor. I love Gogeta, but if it's an all in, full power match: Vegito barely takes that W. Great video btw

To be fair if you wanna scale Gogeta over Vegito (DBZ), you can bring up the fact Goku transforming shook the entire afterlife which is multiple universal sized dimensions, and Janemba being so powerful that it breaks the laws of life and death, because in the movie there’s scenes where the villains from hell die and are immediately brought back to life because Janemba has control over the concept, and that’s just a weaker form of Janemba so Super Janemba and Gogeta scale above Buuhan and Vegito based on feats of weaker versions of themselves, this also makes sense as to how Gogeta has a “Big Bang” of Ki because he’s powerful enough with just transforming to give off that level of energy.

Is the “rival boost” an actual power boost though? I always took it to mean Goku and Vegeta compliment each other due to the rivalry more than if they chose to fuse with anyone else, not that the fusion multiplier gets an additional power boost.

What made Vegito amazing in the Buu arc was that he didn’t have to go all out. Ssj was all he needed. If Buuhan was any real trouble to him, he could’ve gone up to ss3 and finished him for good, but that wasn’t really his goal. If Gogeta was the last option, I believe he’d have not much trouble either. When we look at Vegito in the Goku Black arc, he used Blue which was his strongest form. His final attack was meant to obliterate Zamasu completely. I think that he could’ve destroyed zamasu’s body, but he’d need to use 100% and then some to insure that regeneration would be impossible. Since he used up a lot of energy, he exhausted himself without realizing it. Blue isn’t as demanding as ss3, but if a saiyan fights for a long time or uses a full power attack, they’re not going to be as effective as they were when they started fighting. I know he’s not all that relevant, but Gotenks’s final fight with Super Buu showed that when a fusion fights at 100 percent, it can expire quickly. Gogeta is just as effective as Vegito, but he seems to use his time and energy more wisely. I mean we’ve only gotten one canon appearance, but I don’t think his victory over Broly makes him better. Gogeta and Vegito are equals for now. Until they both face an opponent worthy of their absolute best, there’s no point in debating.

Broly isn't stronger than Jiren one debunk is Goku saying Broly might be stronger then Beerus while Goku thinks Jiren is superior to Beerus via Whis statements and the other is the Kanji ( 敵 ) "Teki" which has multiple meaning like "opponent" "enemy" "rival" "danger" "adversary" so specifically saying it's one size fits all is disingenuous and we'd have to rely on context to determine which would be the most likely to be true. Since Jiren is brought up as an opponent in a tournament and he's just fighting to save his universe and wasn't really treated like a villain till the very end where he tried to kill the gang, but Broly throughout the movie is treated as an enemy from the perspective of the main cast, he's coming down with Frieza who is the most Db villain there is and proceeds to attack Goku and Vegeta for no reason other than being under Frieza's order which would make him appear as a villain. So it's the same Kanji but via different context it means two completely different things so it can't be used to say Broly is superior to Jiren.

Personally I like both fusions and would say throughout the series they are relatively equal, whenever we see Gogeta he always delivers and gets the job done but we have seen more of what vegito can do therefore he could be scaled easier than Gogeta but I still like to think the are atleast around equal, although I do like the kinda head canon that Gogeta can expend all his power without worrying about a time limits while vegito has to be more careful and it kinda makes sense too cuz vegito’s fusion is magic and with too much power that magic or spell can be broken while Gogeta’s fusion is simply a technique some random amount of power won’t just break it cuz it’s not how it works, overall both fusions are cool but I wish Gogeta could get more time to shine so maybe we could really see who wins but I won’t care fo it that much tbh

Well, most of the statements about potara weren't really that clear:Kaioshin just said that the effect is greater than fusion but a few pages later, he just says that separating is just one of the weaknesses that potara fusion don't have, so it could refer to that, the only confirmations come from daizenshuu 7 and chouzenshuu 4(which copies daizenshu 7's), before that, the statement was just "the effect is greater than fusion"

For the rival boost. He says it applies too fusing in general not the potara specifically.

I liked this video. Anyways I do want some thoughts on this since the video brought it up. So Jiren is considered an Enemy. I do want to ask, do you all consider Jiren an enemy? I ask this since yes, the title of the episode does call him “The Ultimate Enemy”, but that was during the ToP. Would you all consider Jiren an enemy by the end of it, where he has changed and sees how Goku sees friends and that kind of power. Also going off of the scans that say Broly is the strongest enemy, I do like how for Superhero, a guide calls him the strongest man, since at that point, Broly isn’t an enemy. He’s only considered an enemy during the Broly movie, so he’s called an enemy.

Six, I got a question, when goku and vegeta do the fusion dance and goku has to lower his power level, where does that power go after they fuse? Does it just disappear or what? I was always under the impression that fusion dance requires the power levels to be equal for it to happen and that process has nothing to do with the power output of the fusion like how it has to be perfect like the the fingers being perfectly aligned and the dance being perfectly synchronised, I feel like the power levels being the same is just a process of the fusion to form and not that the fusion suddenly has less power because one of the fusees lowered they power like where do that power go? I wanna know your take on this .

The reason I take the most recent statement of them being equal as the most accurate is because it's the only statement made referring to the canon Gogeta. The other guides are all talking about the movies or GT, that statement is about the canon show tho.

The real determining factor is which aspect of goku and vegeta's hidden power and unbounded potential comes through when needed. Goku and vegeta have tapped into dormant energies and evolved in strength several times.

Which one do you prefer Six? You know if you do have a preference..... It makes sense that vegito would be stronger. I mean, he has less accessible fusion. It isn't a garunteed goku and vegeta will have potara while they could do the fusion dance whenever its required. Another way to put it. Why would the stronger fusion be more accessible?

Official material released at the time of the Broly movie stated that they are, for all intents and purposes, equal.

Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both fusions, it wouldn't be a huge difference in terms of power, otherwise they would always choose to fuse a certain way. Obviously they would go for the fusion most readily available to them - Potara being easier but only if they had the earrings, and Fusion Dance if Vegeta is willing to do it.

Unrelated but let's say hypothetically madara ate a sukuna finger and sukuna took control. We'll just say madara is faster and overall stronger than sukuna himself is. Would sukunas own base stats and the power of his curse technique become stronger? What would be the limits of what he could do in madaras body? Or just would sukunas techniques actually get stronger due to being in a body stronger than his own?

Asking who's stronger is stupid from a realistic standpoint since there cannot be two pairs of Goku and Vegeta existing in the same timeline (unless it's SDBH, not counting that one) Only one between Gogeta and Vegito can exist at any given point, so they'll never meet in the first place The purpose of the two fusions' existence is that of an ultimate trump card that Goku and Vegeta can use on rare occasions to overcome enemies that they can't hope to by themselves In this regard, both Vegito and Gogeta do a fantastic job of eradicating strong foes Who cares which one is stronger between the two, both have their own pros and cons Vegito is a result of Goku's power being multiplied with Vegeta's power (in other words, Goku x Vegeta), and as such he is superior to his Metamoran counterpart from a pure battle-power perspective; but the Potara earrings themselves aren't gonna be available in Goku and Vegeta's pockets like Senzu beans 24/7, and they're also easy to break with just a single Ki blast (we also saw how Gohan failed to catch them and ultimately got devoured by Buu because of that blunder); Vegito's time also gets shorter the stronger the form he uses is Gogeta is a result of Goku's power and Vegeta's power being added together and an unknown great number multiplying the resulting power on top of that (in other words, unknown great multiplier x (Goku + Vegeta)), so his con is that his power isn't as great as Vegito's; on the other hand, his time doesn't seem to get shorter even if he uses a crazy transformation like SSB, unlike Vegito Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but both still do their jobs amazingly - which is putting down enemies when Goku and Vegeta can't by themselves

Haven’t the video yet but my understanding of Vegito vs Gogeta was always that Vegito was stronger pre Super. But now post Super Vegito still is the stronger fusion but doesn’t have a reliable timer for said fusion. Whereas Gogita is slightly weaker, the timer is always going to be 30mins so it ends up being the better fusion overall because it’s more reliable with the timer. We’ll see how the video matches with that.

I’ll say thing for me. The potara is better because no one need to lower their power in oder to fuse but now vegeta and goku are pretty much equal. Ego and instinct are a different power boost to their base so that don’t count. As of now both fusion would be equal and I’ll say potara can defuse faster because their body isn’t synch up but smash together but the dance is riskier but both person are in perfect synch making the 30 min limit last long than the 1 hour limit when using more power because one is held by super glue and the other by duck tape. But both max out kamehameha would be equal power.

In DBS Vegito defuses if he goes all out and uses his full power but Gogeta doesn't. Which means that if Vegito tries to press his advantage he loses.

I know this isn’t how fusions work, but it’s my opinion on how they SHOULD work. Potara is the easier of the two, and the more reliable. Having a catalyst in the form of the earrings allows for two beings of vastly different strength to fuse correctly. No memorization of dance moves required - the fusion is stable and strong - and you get an hour time limit. Fusion Dance is the stronger, but riskier option. First, the beings have to match their power levels exactly - allowing for a “perfect mix” when it comes to the energies. This allows the magnification of those energies to be more significant. Without a catalyst like the earrings, the subjects require a ritual - a dance - to correctly flow their energies into one another and fuse. Doing it wrong screws up the process and wastes time. (Another point for the fusion dance is that, apparently in lore, you can fuse MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE with the dance! And there’s a different dance for 3, 4, 5, and more!)

If we take alternative timelines into consideration, Gogeta in GT also unfused due to expending too much power against Omega Shenron. So the Dance may not be that stable compared to the Potara.

People try to pin a multiplier and honestly beside it being A X B, i think one thing thats overlooked is it's a scale. The rival "boost" isnt a cherry on top the rivalry only creates conditions for a greater fighter meaning higher multiplier. Beerus backs up compatibility as a key factor during the TOP where he says 17 & 18 being twins should have a satisfactory result. Like goku saying him and Satan would barely grow stronger, the guide saying it is addition or multiplication basically illustrates it all. Depending on ur compatibility, u get a greater boost or possibly barely a boost at all. The funny thing about this whole debate is even if u said they had the same multiplier, fusion dance is technically always slightly weaker cuz u have to equalize. Thats where being rivals comes in since u barely have to adjust but that difference is there. Then u have more statements leaning toward potara. Honestly i'm fine with the fusions being equal cuz it makes both useful, fusion dance is more readily available while potara lasts longer but it's clear potara is suppose to be the better fusion overall even if it isnt stronger

I have a counter point which got retconned away real quick: I don't remember which translation it was, but back when GT was released (and not yet obliterated into being not canon), the zenkai boost was still acknowledged. You all remember that yes? Well, SSJ4 (those glorious ape men) were stated to be "peak Saiyan potential" at that time... Well, due to the nature of having a zenkai boost, OG ssj4 gogeta technically held infinite power ; you can't peak if you can always get stronger, even if it meant almost dying to do it. That said, I dunno how it works out, but there's two sides to this now: either the zenkai boost is constantly activating due to the supposed "peak" nature of ssj4, or every time gogeta gets unfused (which is technically his "death"), he'll get even stronger upon refusing. Of course, I could simply be wrong, but these technicalities do exist. I don't know if SSGSS has the same attribute, so I won't claim anything absolute in this case, but it's certainly something to think about (at least pre-modern DB)

I have a few issues with this video. One of the biggest being your statement that Metamoran fusion doesn't seem to have its limit drained if you expend to much power. That is incorrect. We've seen multiple cases of this being true, with SSJ3 Gotenks and SSJ4 Gogeta. Vegito defused quickly due to using the Final Kamehameha, a technique that is basically just a final flash mixed with a Kamehameha. One aspect of the Final Flash is that it's Vegeta's finishing move, one where he puts all of his energy into it. Vegito does the same with his Final Kamehameha (but due to hax, Zamasu doesn't die to it). Not a lot of people take that into account when comparing the two. Blue doesn't drastically drain Vegito's power, his Final Kamehameha does. The fight with broly probably wasn't any more than a few minutes long. We've had multiple examples of the perception of time being skewed for our viewing, such as the infamous namek blowing up in 5 minutes, and the fact that the tournament of power was only 48 in-universe minutes and yet spanned 30 22-minute long episodes. Even if I'm wrong here about the Broly movie, my other point still stands. I love both fusions but Gogeta's gotta have permanent post-nut clarity with how much people ride his dick.

We do need to take into consideration that the Gogeta and Vegito are at different arcs in the story. Gogeta is going to be considerably stronger just off the power boost they both received (MUI AND Evolved blue)

Blue is easy to figure out. Gogeta was after ToP, Vegito was before ToP and before they went into the time chamber thus weaker. EDIT: also Jiren is way stronger than Broly.
