These graphics are remarkable. I mean, they completely overcame the limitations at the time using really beautiful textures. It's kind of like impressionism. Really holds up
Finally more exposure for this game. The moar people who become aware of this then Square will HAVE to take notice. Perhaps one day we might get an HD remaster. It is all I'm asking for...
Saw this game back in 2000 and played it till around 2002 maybe 2003, I still consider this game the best game I have ever played and boy have I played tons and tons of games new and old. You made the best review about this game ever, subbed although you haven't uploaded anything in months...
The battle system thing was fine. The crafting was the true batshit crazy part. If it wasn't for the internet, kid-me would NEVER have been able to craft any sort of decent weapon.
Square had the best games for the ps1. Final Fantasy 7,8 and 9. Xenogears, vagrant story, parasite Eve, Einhander, bushido blade, brave fencer musashi and chrono cross.
....Reminds me... I still need to play Vagrant Story. Can't go wrong with old school and there is so much to go back on. Especially that which still lives in the depths of Japan that has never graced the front door of the states.
Stopped by because I was told this game is like Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage on the N64 by THQ / H20 back in 2001 I think more than anything its similar combat system ish but I am getting some real souls like vibes going on. Regardless, i'm loving it and appreciate the upload :)
Sadly, I didn't finish this game even though I own it. I could never get past the dragon at 09:18. I hope you do a video on Final Fantasy 12 in the future.
While I agree about most of what you say the stuff you didn't like is what made the game so special. No shops. Magic got stronger. I like that it was no party based gave it more of a heroic feeling. This is probably my all time favorite game I beat it twice about once every year or so. You have to beat the game twice to fully unlock the map. And there are several boss rushes and Ubers to fight.
I still consider this to be my favorite game of all time. It was like a revelation when I first played. It sucks that they've never made a follow-up because the combat was sooo good. With some modern tweaks, this could be an incredible franchise.
Awww, you re-recorded it. D: I'm gonna miss some of the old inflections and the clips away of you talking to the camera. But, it's still an entertaining listen, and has some new laughs. So, bravo. c:
Man you are extremely funny, intelligent and a great gamer. Amazing review. Wish you could continued this channel. Still subbed. Hope you are doing good. Cheers
one of my all time greats...played this, deathtrap dungeon/soul reaver and shadowman to completion multiple times......would love to replay them all remastered with upto date graphics/system
Wow, this was really great. I don't suppose you'll ever do a more in depth video on FFXII? I loved the shit out of that one too. Big fan of Ivalice, probably going to get FFT: War of the Lions working on PPSSPP now. Still gotta do that VS ng+ though...
Easily one of my favourite games of the PS1 generation, only the fact that everything takes SO LONG TO DO JFC YOU'RE KILLING ME WITH THIS USER INTERFACE stops me from going back to it today. There's a ton of great games on the PS1 that just don't feel like they respect the player's time in this day and age, primarily through clunky or badly-done inventories, stat screens and the like. NEO World Ends With You shows that they can avoid screwing up a sequel if they try, but without Matsuo's singular vision for the game, I don't think they could give this a do-over without giving in to the urge to tinker relentlessly with the game.
6:34 - Anyone know what those clips are from? Because the 3rd one looks hilarious, and the 1st one is utterly terrifying. (Don't care about the 2nd one)
I was loving this game so much... But the combat weighted it down so much. It was interesting, but the risk system ended up killing it. I hated waiting for the right time to strike, and it made no sense contextually the damage difference between Risk and no risk, I mean, HE IS STILL SWINGING A FUCKING BLADE. That pretty much killed it for me, I wasnt being able to have fun whilst playing that rule. I wanted to my attacks and magic to have immediate impact.
What are your views on Final Fantasy 12 itself? I would like to see a video on it, but if you just want to reply with a comment that is also fine. I thought the combat was refreshing and I thought most of the characters were good, except Vaan and Ashe they were terrible. Fran and Balthier should have been the main characters. They were so fucking awesome (+1 to hot dark skinned bunny girl that kicks ass). The story was also a bit refreshing if not still very much the standard trope of JRPGs.
TyranusRex721 I've been mulling over this, because I do want to share my thoughts on it in some fashion. I feel like a comment itself wouldn't suffice, but I could definitely shotgun a few of my thoughts here. I enjoyed the combat greatly, because seeing it play out was the result of me optimizing the gambit system to work in my favor after spending hours of brainstorming, and unlocking more actions to order based on the situation. I loved how the plot was heavily riddled in politics, religion, jingoism, and revisionist history. The story, itself, I also loved, because not did the world feel much bigger than you, with it's own problems that are leaving you behind in its wake, but also the fact that by the end, you find out that you weren't exactly the "good guys." The map design, itself, was expansive and gorgeous, atmosphere was impeccable, and it was great to see Ivalice at its best, knowing that it's all down hill from here. As for the cast, I honestly loved a majority of them. But there was also no true main character. Characters such as Vaan and Panelo were dry and bland, but that was because they were forced in last minute by the company president - Wada. I didn't hate Vaan or Panelo, though, because they provided something important. They were both ignorant to the outside world, so they asked blatant questions, got answers, in which we - the players - wound up getting exposition on the world, itself. Essentially, they were player vessels. In all honesty, I have to admit that I actually love Vaan's backstory. How his brother wound up hospitalized, and how he screams about being a sky pirate all day in order to put his head in the clouds, on purpose, to blinker himself from the harsh reality that he could do absolutely nothing to save his family. Edit: I may come up with a new series specifically for RPG's, because they're the worst to review. Massive, time consuming, energy sapping projects. I'd like to think of a format where I can still share my thoughts on them without spending 7 months trying to shrink them down into 20 minutes worth of thoughts. Maybe aim for somewhere along 10 minutes or so.
Perils of Pokey Thanks for the reply. I know the game gets a lot of crap, but I thought it was the first good FF in years and actually got me interested in the series. I like RPGs, but I found the FF series to be surprisingly bland, but FF 12 was genuinely interesting. Unfortunately the FF 13 series were terrible and, honestly, FF 15 is not looking any better.
The new vocal shift does sound more professional, but I personally think you should relax yourself a bit. You're off to a great start but you sound a bit strained with your deliveries in this video
hahahah man, iw as listening to vargant story osts when i stumbled across this. you are great, had alot of fun :D this is one of my favourite games of all times and it was a nice "review" i would say? hahah that mp part really knocked me off the chair XDD i always got mp and 0 HP to be honest hahahh
Late to the video, jumping in for a quick word : properly remade, the game would stand as potentially the best title of his kind. All it really needs to update are : speech patterns (different characters should argue differently, with less... Flowery language), erasing plot holes (Joshua being the prime example of the unfinished script), taming the MC's horrendous hair and lame "huh what is going on bwu bwu" personality, and pushing the battle system to something either more akin to Parasite Eve 2 or FFXII (these infernal menus and repetitive chained combos can rot in hell). The game is still is masterpiece without these changes, but it's hard to replay it given its visible unfinished state.
I loved the Ivalice of FFT and Vagrsnt story. I disliked FF12 and FFTA2. I really wish they remake vagrant story. And get the Ivalice world more rooted in the orginal concept. Can you male a video of the entire story.
Two handed swords, bastard swords, kataanass, wakisasshis, polearms, lances, theres a massive amount of weapons in VS, and almost any wepon is eendgame viable once converted to Hagane (the hardest material ingame) and yes, there is an endgame, after beating it you unlock game+ and an ultra hard laabyrintine dungeon that has strong as fuck enemies.
