Honestly Gohan's death is so much sadder when you consider who he was. He wasn't like Goku or Vegeta where the thought of these two powerful foes would've pumped them up every time he faced them. He HATED fighting, and yet every time the androids attacked he was there, fighting a battle he knew he couldn't win because he knew it was right. He dies doing something he hated, to things he hated. He never got to be a scholar, never got to have a family, never got to experience the peace he fought for so many years for. And looking at his face when his kamehameha starts to fade, one can only imagine how truly miserable he must've felt.
@@BazilJ Gohan let Cell beat the piss out of him because he didn't like fighting. He only does it because he has to protect his family. Hell, the only reason he trains is to stop powerful threats to Earth, not for self-improvement like everyone else. He makes a six figure salary researching bugs, and that makes him happy
future gohan got to experience like 2 or 3 years of peace after raditz, he grew up with most of the people he knew dead, fighting almost daily with barely any time to rest 😭
True. Plus, he died fighting as much as he could, and his death lead to Trunks being able to help prevent this from ever happening again, so in a way, he was the one that won the fight.
Not true entirely😂 yah do realize it didn't matter that trunk reached ssj, all he needed to do was travel back in time which was a cannon event nothing could have stopped it. Even if Gohan didn't die he would've still went back in time
It just occurred to me that while Gohan dies and inspires Trunks, it's Gohan in the end who stops the entire threat of the androids via Cell, so in the end, from two different timelines, our boy bookended everything. Trunk's transformation began with him, and the androids ENDED with him. Sucks we never get to see Future Gohan anywhere but unimportant offshoot timelines. Would be nice if he got some spotlight, beefed up, and then fused with main Gohan to live happily.
@@heh.5358 keep in mind that it’s just infinite stamina, he still surpasses them individually in strength, speed, and ki abilities. They could barely beat him with a combined ki blast at full power, after they just worn him down.
This man totally obliterated androids 1v1 in his first super saiyan form without full potential, while training Trunks for years, countered attacks of both 17 and 18 with ONE arm, future Gohan is really most badass and brutal character in dbz
No he didn’t lmao the androids state they weren’t even at half power. He’s only alive because the androids were playing with him. He’s badass but he’s the weakest super saiyan
@@nikkikado4079 we can say that its true, but we dont know for sure. But he is not the "weakest" super saiyan, Goten and Trunks (current timeline) are, maybe their powers are = of gohans, but he has much more battle experience and iq + will and reason to fight
@@wtfexe9301 the androids in his timeline are even weaker than they are during the cell saga, due to a lack of data on trunks which allows Gero to make them powerful enough for trunks too, and Gohan never gets a chance to eat properly or train meaning that he is 100% the weakest super saiyan. In the manga he gets clapped at every opportunity but in the anime they give him slightly more resistance for dramatic effect
@@wtfexe9301 and this timelines kid trunks and goten are far stronger than future Gohan, even as children in the buu saga. They, as a fusion, fight and kick Super Buu’s (who’s power is incomprehensible compared to even full power perfect cell) ass before defusing and in the cell max movie manage to actually hurt cell max with a headbutt
When your last thoughts dying aren't even about yourself but for the guy whos going to have to suffer through what you couldn't finish. This shit has me crying lmao my boi was thinking about the next fight already happening without him
I think the saddest part for Future Gohan is simply that, had the roles been reversed, and had Trunks died instead of him losing his arm, that probably would have been the last straw to bring him to Super Saiyan 2, and from there he could have at least beaten the Androids and Cell. Gohan’s good heart was ironically the thing that got him killed in the end, but at least Trunks was able to avenge him.
The androids from the future timeline weren't that strong, Gohan could defeat them individually, but since Gohan wasn't in good condition(depressed by the death of his friends and family and lost an arm), he couldn't resist them both
Not, Necessarily true with super saiyan 2 Being enough to kill them. Some have theorized that even if Gohan did go Ssj2, He would only be able to match the androids since it’s going from 50x to 100X, since at normal super saiyan he’s half their full strength, So he’d probably still lose the 2 V 1.
Really hits home his sacrifice saved not only his world but another timeline where in the end, he got to live out his dream of being a scholar and having a family. When you think about it, gohan died so that gohan could start living. dragon ball can be real poetic sometimes. great edit, real emotional!
it's still crazy to think that THIS is technically the gohan we all saw grow over two sagas. And then he was killed, put down like a dog and left to rot.
characters like goku or main timeline gohan are representations of hope being able to overcome threats, future gohan is how hope will prevail even against a threat that it stands 0 chance against, even in his last moments,he never gave up hope trunks would save the world
Future Gohan died never knowing that he would get married. Never knowing that his father would become one of the strongest. Never knowing if Trunks ever beat Cell successfully. Never knowing that he would become a father. He died never knowing if his death ever affected the future. And that is the saddest part of Gohan’s death.
@@SwagpapiQ Goku died from the heart virus, so the Androids came out and killed everyone, it was just pure chaos and Gohan never really lived his life as he should have. It’s a real sad reality.
I mean…….. maybe. He’s most certainly in heaven probs training for fun with future Goku. The after life still exists in Future Trunks timeline. The androids were menaces on earth and only earth. And I’m sure future Gohan met king Kai and they checked in on Trunks from time to time never telepathically but visually for sure. He was a man who died a hero his life may have been different from his AU counterpart but, he’s at peace not gone simply moved on.
The fact he was seated on the floor as he sent that Final Kamehameha. Didn't even have enough energy to stand, and still he found a way to use a Kamehameha.
These deaths are the ones that hurt the most. They wont revive like most characters do, they're gone... forever. R.I.P Future Gohan, Bardock, Gine and Grandpa Gohan.
@@Clanmaster6 future gohan is soul got erased with his time line when Zeno erased it so he permanently no coming back dead others can be revived tho nvm I just remember that you can’t bring back people who don’t want to be brought back
I named my cat after Gohan when I first started watching DBZ. I had no idea future Gohan died at that point. After a year my cat Gohan passed away, and then I found this.
Damn. Everyone talks about how Gohan’s Kamehameha syncs with the song, but I’m not seeing anyone talking about how well the entire song fits the scenario. Like, if I didn’t know anything about it, I might’ve thought it was made for this scene. It fits in so perfectly.
"When do you think a man dies?" "When his heart is pierced by a bullet?" "No." "When he succumbs to an incurable disease?" "No." *"A man dies when he is forgotten."* -Dr. Hiriluk
There's also a darker chance that the afterlife doesnt exist inside of the OG timeline since Goku didnt communicate with Gohan like he did in the main one.
What's even more sad is in these last moments he's probably reliving his childhood with his father and mother and friends and reliving all the adventures he went on and everything he fought for and finally trunks..
Damn, watching 2:01 really gets me. It parallels gohans beam battle with cell; however, instead of having words of encouragement from his father to help him push past his limit--- he simply turns away feeling hopeless. Really shows how bleak this timeline is and how Gohan can't help but feel hopeless. A real good touch this game put in
@@youknowihadtodoittoem3579 unfortunately it wouldn’t help much, it would only make him just barely equal to the cyborgs and with his exhausted and beaten body it wouldn’t have helped
On paper, yes. SSJ2's x2 multiplier to SSJ1 (assuming Gohan mastered his SSJ form, which considering the yellow tint he probably didn't) would allow him to only equalize the 50% -> 100% androids, but in that moment, he'd have caught the androids completely and utterly off guard. They were using inefficient ki blasts compared to his compressed kamehameha which even in his state did well lasting as long as it did. If nothing else, the transformation would've allowed him to escape with trunks, as the damage would've taken some time to adjust to. Anyways, that wasn't even the point of my message, if you'd do the honors in rereading the OPs message, I was adding onto his comparison between kid Gohan and future Gohan :)
Til this day i still believe that if Gohan was given the courtesy of a 1v1 with each android we would've absolutely demolished them, but unfortunately it was a cannon event
@@MrSaturn. manga makes it lamer then. besides, Toriyama said himself that future gohan and bardock are 2 stories he would never write because they're tragedies and he's a comedy writer.
lol no they said the whole time they were half power, and if he couldn't even beat one at half power than what makes you think he could beat one at full power
I do wish that there was some solace for future Gohan, but he just couldn’t catch a break. I do think he would be happy knowing that our Gohan lived a better life than he had, not having to suffer as a final hero or saviour.
@zer0vision891 He's talking about times like the Bojack movie or Broly movie where he said fuck being dead ima help out. Which are non-canon so not that relevant. Then the time with Buu was where he got special permission so that doesn't work. What Goku could've done though is reach out with King Kai and tell them about the Hyperbolic Timechamber.
@@MartinGuerra-ht9bwgohan actually was strong enough to beat them, shown by the SSJ2 sparks he gets before he transforms for the beam clash He could’ve gone SSJ2, he just needed a push Unfortunately, no one was there to push him far enough
yes they are blue in SSJ2 but those same sparks are visible in the beginning of the SSJ transformation jut yellow but quickly fade away, in the beginning of the SSJ 2 transformation there are yellow and blue arcs of electrisity not just sparks. so i think the power was there gohan just didnt have the belief in himself that he could do it, in the DBZ cell saga gohan is only at his strongest ( the end of the beam clash with cell) when he has modivation from his dad. in trunk's future gohan didnt have any rest, training, or anyone of hi strength level who could push his lilmits. @@immanati1831
At 2:00 you can see the pure desperation of Gohan here. Hes a feral animal backed into the corner by the hunter. Its so heartbreaking even if its a fictional character.
That’s what makes trunks revenge 10/10 trunks decided to come back in his weakest transformation and absolutely blitz them. Bonus points for making 17 watch 18 get blitzed
They had A Warrior who Held off Both of Earths Destroyers, and Raised the Earths Next Defender, And Ultimately Died In a Last Ditch effort. And we Get the Nerd who Grew White Hair.
@@gh0stshark336 Gohan Beast was Very Underwhelming, Given its Just A Modernized Gohan Blanco, and for all of the screen time he had, it was just a Recolor of SS2 Gohan vs. Cell, with a little Special Beam Canon at the end of it.
i do think this timeline really highlights how truly powerful gohan is. the fact his father couldnt face up against the androids. or vegeta? and he was able to propel their attack for that long while weak and with one arm? really does prove there is almost no limit to Gohans potential
@@kostisdimopoulos2886 Goku still would've lost had he fought them. Vegeta was stronger than him (at least in the main timeline, but it's better to assume that still held true), and he was killed, too. Gohan really did surpass his father. It's just a shame that it wasn't enough.
The most Saiyan Death in the whole anime. Gohan, the kid who didn't like fighting, died with super saiyan activated and trowing his most powerful kamehameha with 1 arm while completely beaten up Just to change the Faith of Bulma and Trunks. I bet Vegeta is super proud of him in Hell
If Toriyama was consistent with this type of storytelling, I would've gotten attentively invested in Dragon Ball Z and beyond. For now and evidently forever, it's just a semi-fun watch of characters punching, kicking, and screaming until their hair color changes.
i like to imagine that the scenario was wayyyy worse, what if gohan’s leg was both got cut off and thats why he is just sitting there not being able to stand anymore.. but he still managed to pull one last kamehameha with basically his life force
You know what makes it worse? He probably survived the blast but drowned in the puddle because he couldn’t get up. Future Trunks’ timeline was super bleak
"You know you cant win, You cant destroy what I really am. Even if you manage to kill this body an even stronger one will surface and take my place. Not one death will go unaccounted for..NOT ONE!"
“Cmon gohan. I trained you better I know you can do this!” -Piccolo “Hey son remember what you’re fighting for don’t let everyone’s deaths for you go to waste!” -Goku
1:59 *says in dbz narrator voice* "and it is here when the last hope of the human race , gave his best to try and at least destroy 1 of the androids , and it is sad to say that their power were too great to keep up with , and so he says his last will and lent the hopes of the survival of the human race to Trunks as his bloodied and battered body finally gave its last breath...as he watches the world cave in
Honestly I really don’t care about the fact that these tv shows and shit are fictional, it still makes me cry to think about the things that go down. Like fr thi imagine watching your whole family and everybody you’ve ever loved die right in front of you. I wouldn’t Even have the will to live anymore.
i know we're 1000% far past that point, but i really wish we could get more of future gohan. he really didnt deserve to go out like that, maybe in another timeline he would've gone ssj2 here and actually won
i feel like it was a good choice to have him lose, most characters in this show win way too often. Having a character who loses is a good addition; mostly a precious character.
@@Bean-yc7lsthat’s true but I wish the gohan we got was little more like his future counterpart cuz the one we got isn’t that interesting as a character
