For those of born in the early 90s, we've seen Gohan born, Gohan as a kid, preteen, teenager, and father. Piccolo has been with him almost every step of the way. Their bond, truth be told, is THE GREATEST in all of anime. Period.

Gohan wearing the purple gi to symbolize his teacher was cooler than when he wore goku gi in the boo saga later on...get that out of here...younger and older teen gohan kid gohan looks so good in purple ...it's cool for teen gohan in bojack movie post cell saga to honor his dad and in the wrath of dragon film post kid boo but I always hated gohan wearing goku gi vs super boo....annoyed the hell out of me how bad ultimate gohan looks in goku outfit...he looks like try hard goku....I liked kid gohan in goku outfit in the filler while training...that's fine..when it was go time he was in the right gi to make sure it didn't get dirty beforehand....
Stephanie Eunice Chan, Not as much as Piccolo loves Gohan. Gohan seemed to forget all about Piccolo when he met Videl. But Piccolo never forgot about Gohan. And we all know how many times he died or took a hit for Gohan.

That part at the end is always so jarring. "Piccolo's so cool! Look at his stern face! Look how strong he is! Look at that time where he sacrificed his life to save me and it was actually really traumatising! Daisuki!!"
Well Piccolo coming back to life probably helped reliving that particular memory. Sure it was taumatizing then, but some perspective for Gohan that he later was revived I would think would help that. If Piccolo actually remained dead, then yeah, I'd agree.
Well I guess its here because right before it do we see how piccolo ignores all of Gohans I love you talk but this one moment were he sacrifice him self for Gohan is the one moment that proves to Gohan that Piccolo loves him back and actually does care for him.

Gohan and Piccolo are both such well designed characters in the way they worked to help us as kids to relate to the story. How many of us were just like Gohan, nodding off on school work while day dreaming about a magical adventure in places only children can imagine? Toriyama is a genuis for being able to build such a world and tap into that magic. Piccolo in a sense is like the Gandalf / Dumbledore of Dragon Ball Z, he's the magical connection between the kid protagonist and that world of adventure. He's also radically different from the original Merlin character trope or even the kung fu flick's sensei, which makes the Gohan and Piccolo relationship extremely unique... I think this is because Piccolo is both the magician/wizard character, a sci fi alien, and a knight. How many of us dreamed of having a guardian and a guide like Piccolo to take us to an adventure when we were children in our own respective make-believe world?

Course not. All he did was become a famous scholar. Betrayed his lineage and turned his back to his father and piccolo and became a coward. In the beginning of super I wouldn't be shocked if Tien would have been able to nest Gohan. Gohan disappointed me. One day Goku will be gone and who'll defend earth except him, Goten and Trunks.
boru25 Yeah man, it was almost the culture back then. The series has followed culture and parallels it throughout the ages. It has seen the 80s, 90, 2000s and now. Pioneer had the rights early on and man those were my Saturday mornings. Who'll knew they would get this far.
Piccolo has protected that boy with his life. Literally. He better love Piccolo, at least as a good godfather. You know if anything were ever to happen to his parents, Piccolo would take care of Gohan and his family anyway without being asked.
He is like his true father, like imagine you not seeing your dad for 4 years and then he dies after spending 4 weeks with and then some green alien raises you better than he would've done.
Nah, Goku did a better job as a father than other Saiyans. Also, Goku is the one who caused King Piccolo to lay an egg when he was a child remember? That baby Piccolo turned into the Piccolo you know today. So without Goku, there's no Piccolo.
@@alicialugo4549 LOL good question. Saw a website with the translation, the line "Shuppa-Shuppi, Shuppa Piccorro", basically means "Off Off and Away goes Piccolo", maybe Gohan here is referring to Piccolo's ability of flying.
Everyone always talks about how piccolo was Gohan’s real dad but since the age gap between them is only like five years he would honestly be more like a grown brother that stepped in.
