He whooped me... 😆 He was so dam happy .. after I cut the camera he was like do I get to keep the POGs.. yep.. take em.. ya won fair and square! Haha. A few years ago I sent my kids to school with a care package of new old stock of POGs from the 90s for each kid in their class 😂, the school went crazy for POGs for a few weeks ... All the teachers and parents were reminiscing about them and thought it was awesome... Then the trouble started... And the school banned them haha.

In Europe (at least in Spain) we had same thing but rebranded and called as "TAZOS", they had different themes like Dragon Ball, Looney Toons, etc (90's). We played the same way, there are still people crazy at it and collectors, it was a good time to be alive! cheers dude! I didn't know of the POGs in the US!

Yep - actually POG stands from Passionfruit Orange Guava, the drink that these caps came on the bottle in Hawaii where the game originated.

Thank you so much for making this video! I loved POGs as a kid and recently got back into them. I play with my sons too. I actually preordered a case of 12 Hobby Boxes a few months ago and have been anxiously waiting for them to arrive. This video was just what I needed to hold me over a few more weeks! I love that they are all numbered and those limited serial ones are sick! I hope I get a few! Thanks again for this unboxing video. I loved it!

This is pretty cool! In the Netherlands we also had them but we called them "FLIPPO's" And they came for free with a bag of Smith's Chips ( the brand later became lays chips).

My best friend and I used to play buy these big tubes full of pogs and other brands, we would also collect power rangers ones, he had a mega slamer and he also had a pog luncher we would get rid of the cheep looking ones with. Never knew they had official rules or mat to play on. Really love the pog collection and seeing your son and you play! Awesome!

Face down makes more sense so the slammer doesn't damage the picture side and also that way you 'reveal' what pogs you get to take after they've been slammed.

I live in the U.S. now.. but yes, I'm a 90s kid, and im from Brazil. In Brazil, Pogs were not big, but Tazos, yea, a fever! I had a huge collection of Tazos when i was a kid!

I grew up poor so never was able to get a huge pog collection until my sister's friend gave me a huge Manila envelope full of different ones but I remember how excited i was when I was able to get some now and then. I had some cool Animated Amazing Spiderman ones. Oh and I remember Hardees was doing a POG like promo for the Apollo 13 film where you got a piece of the Apollo 13 rocket that came with some pogs with images of the film and a metal slammer. It was honestly probably the best collector kids meal promo Hardee's had done. Because there were a collection of the metal slammers to try to collect, the pogs of course, and all the pieces to create this huge Apollo 13 rocket that you could actually keep pogs in! Oh Hardee's is also known as Carl's Jr I think in other regions. Man those were the times!

I think thats the first game of Pogs I've ever seen played. I remember them being for sale at the Pharmacy I worked at for a few years... but like Pokemon, people just did their own thing. Not many kids played games of Pogs or Pokemon, they just collected and traded the stuff.

I had some pogs that came free in cereal boxes. But they didn't do a good job of explaining how to play it, so your clip at the end is the first time I've ever seen what you're supposed to do with them. They didn't become a thing in my school at least (in UK)

In the UK we had POGs and Tazos - Tazos were different as they had slots that you could use to assemble them into stuff. POGs were more popular but Tazos were cool also.

I still have a majority of mine from grade school in the tubes but we played it differently. Each player would only put in one Pog at a time, we'd stack the two of them face down, then we'd use the Slammer to press down hard on the edge of the two stacked Pogs to flip them face-up (we wouldn't throw the Slammer), and then kept what we turned over. If only one flipped over, the opposing player had to add another Pog. If none flipped over, then it was the other player's turn. We randomly took turns adding a Poison Pog, and if you flipped that over, you didn't win anything and you lost your turn.
