don't want to rain on your parade but falcon controllers are a great option for running pixels-strips. Run over over 16K of pixels for US$200, with most of your enttec features and more.

Falcon makes a good controller - BUT - not as robust of a standalone mode, and most important, no CE safety certification (as far as I am aware). So while the Falcon is cheaper and does control loads of pixels, it's a tremendous liability, especially for installers working in commercial buildings. Fire code requires electronics that pass safety certifications, such as CE, UL and ETL. :)

More pixels. No built in power. No power supply. DIN rail mounting. Less "rugged" connector for pixel connection. Around the same price.

Do the newer octos not have the standalone mode? I dont see the direct or standalone tabs on my screen

That's sad - I was under the impression that they were the same, just slightly updated - I would reach out to ENTTEC to be sure, but it looks like it did get removed :(
