Hey Danny thanks for coming to my traditional english chipshop much appreciate your review, apologise for the batter but we tend to lightly batter as this is most requested, we do fish without, fish lightly battrred, fish floured and fish in cornflour for coeliacs. ,, if you ever call again i will see your food is cooked as u wish and free of charge, thanks for making brilliant videos😁, Lee Chipmunk chipshops
Went to your chippy Lee a couple of weeks ago with my sister and bro in law after a day out. food was delicious, however one of the staff was quite standoffish and would say actually rude. All because after ordering we decided to eat in.
get a caravan and go on tour all over. Go to festivals, venues, hole in the wall restaurants, as well as your normal program. Maybe for your 1 million subscriber you can go right posh somewhere, Like eat something fancy on Crown property all dressed up
The USA tour wasn't my thing in terms of videos to watch but it was amazing in terms of the channel progressing. Nice to see the UK videos back. The bread and butter content 🤣.
@@TomJones-nh3fx from the bits I tried to watch I don't think it seemed forced. I just prefer Danny at home meeting people who he has chemistry with, be it people on the street when he's sat down or people working in the places he's visiting. Danny is as northern as you can get so I just prefer him mixing with like minded people.
He was on holiday in New York city doing things he'd always wanted to do while being paid to them, he definitely wanted to be there. Maybe you weren't keen on it but don't confuse that with Danny, because he made it clear he was having the time of his life.
the USA tour would have been better as a road trip , eating at roadside BBQs etc some proper ribs , deep south cuisine , rather than touristy spots. It was all very expensive and disappointing limp looking food....tbh nothing looked good
Shame you wasn't blown away by the Chipmunk chippy,It's very popular here in sunny St.Helens. Fingerpost district is rough and ready,I thought the local lads were gonna give you a wedgey!
This is where i grew up,my friend Kylie brought your food out to you, brilliant to see . Hope you enjoyed your chipmunk its been going years it's beautiful 😍
So glad you survived fingerpost 👏 only good thing at chipmunk is chips and peas, the pea juice makes the chips soggy on the bottom haha. Very rarely do we go there now, live 10 mins away. You should go to Newton Town show on the 1st Saturday in August, some good food and lots to see 👍
Danny needs to go to a chippy in North Manchester/Lancashire and try Rag pudding (proper steak pudding) chips, peas & gravy 😋🤤👌🏼 Some good old Northern hospitality/friendliness on show in this video..wouldn't want to be from anywhere else 💯👊🏼
Been to Chipmunk many times. Its not the best fish and chips you'll ever taste but its normally above average. I think the batter is a St Helens thing. They seem to like fish lightly battered around there.
I know this area so well originally from the town. Crispy cod near the old saints ground is probably the best in the area. Loved the bloke getting stumps out the bin behind you, typical parrite.
Should make the trip to Alton Towers for the scarefest we are going on the 14th October. Be cool to see you there and maybe could get on some rides and have some food and have a great time. Would be amazing to see you there 😀
I lived in Copenhagen, Denmark for 7 years and the people were way less polite than in America. Customer service and politeness is not something all that important to them. It's more so about being Cordial in an indirect way and you getting out of their store. I am not saying you can't find friendly people cause down at an Ice cream shop the girls who worked there were friendly, but it's also an ice cream shop ran by 20 something age girls. Most of the time though I always felt rushed or like they were watching me to see if I am stealing.
Great video, coming from St Helens i watched this the day after the Grand Final (4 in a row). This is a great chippy, there is a few Chip Monks in St Helens and the batter is the same in them all, i think its a local thing. If you are ever in St Helens again you need to go to Pats Cafe its legendary.
I grew up in St.Helens, and many of the awesome chippies have disappeared, but Chipmunks although not the best chippies were consistent and good. I worked for over a year at a training place three minutes away from that chippy, and the staff were always pleasant, food is good, but there was always a wait (which shows the locals liked it). Pat's Cafe, over the road, was a regular breakfast place for me, and it could be awesome. However, when I used to go there, they had a few different cooks throughout the year, and the food results could change but overall a very good breakfast place. The best pies in St.Helens are from Burchall W J in the town centre, and one of the best chippies used to be over the road (It's now called 'Tanan's Fish & Chips'). A pork pie (cooked in the premises from raw materials) from Birchalls, over the road for chips, peas, gravy and stick the Burchall's pie on the top; heaven. Birchall's pies are St.Helens' secret, and locals don't normally give the secret away as by 12:30 they have sold out. They are made from raw materials and so you can really only get one after 11 in the morning. That's my experience anyway!
@@peepresc8002 I agree. Burchall only does pork pies, but in-house made and are the best. Cottom's hotpots and sausages are for me, amazing. My brother, who has moved to Wales, always requests I bring down a couple of family hotpots whenever I go down there.
Can't beat a nice fresh barm with half a fish, a good scoop of chips, and mushy peas and curry sauce on. Ideally with a few scraps on and a potato fritter (special) on the side and a can of dandelion and burdock to wash it all down. Mmmmmm.
Have you been to Australia before? Come down under if you can, I'd love to see what you think of "Aussie" food Danny! Plus we're Rugby League mad in the states of Queensland and New South Wales. Food and footy, just as it should be :)
Danny, you are doing my head in ! One day in vegas then at the rugby in england then in new york, then back at the rugby. My God, how much is your airfare ?
Love it your doing a meet and greet that is what we've been wanting, love the vlogs, so so with the American vlogs, to many sandwiches for my liking 😉😋❤️
Danny I was at the local fish and chip place here on the West Coast of British Columbia Canada with my mom in her town of Maple Ridge and a table of 4 gents from the UK were there and sure enough they had the gravy all over the fish, just like you do. Let me tell you I like gravy, going to have that tonight, at the same restaurant.
There's supposed to be an array of food venues being built in the town centre, using shipping containers but nothing has started yet. Not too far from the Steve Prescot bridge
Dan I can’t believe I missed you in st Helens I must have walked past your vw when you first parked up next time your here try the red lion chippy in Sutton
Nice Danny but looks to me mate that the fish had a argument with the batter , and the batter won 😂… Do like me some mushy peas . Hope you’re well pal .
I would like to see Danny go to Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest, the festival of beer, sausage and music! Eat some pig knuckles and curry wurst! Lederhosen should be optional, I bet that stuff is expensive.
Great stuff , Danny . Next season why dont you do a tour of all the Superleague grounds and find out who does the best food . Wigan look favourite , so far (for the food - not the rugby !)
Welcome back home Barnsley Lad Danny you have made your mark in America mate great your have to do India next mate cheap as chips there and great food regards Dave.
It looks like Chipmunks uses tempura batter for the spam fritter... interesting idea. When I was growing up, a local burger place used tempura batter for their onion rings - they were great! Haven't found anyplace that did that since.
Morning Danny, couple of suggestions keeping it on the rugby theme, maybe you could do something alongside the rugby league World Cup in the next few weeks? Maybe even going round some of the other RL teams, super league, championship, league one etc. next season?
