FYI: sewing machines at Jo-Ann Fabrics are sold by a third-party vendor renting concession space within the brick and mortar stores. So, I don't expect much in the way of sales there. Walmart is regularly much cheaper for better brands.

Good list! I line most dresses and skirts so a deal on lining fabric is welcome too. I'd feel rich if I had 20 yards of muslin, I often use thrifted sheets for fitting. 😊

Its it real or a rumor? I haven't seen or heard the Joanns is going out of business. Was there this weekend noone had any clue what I was talking about

Reddit was pretty open about what people could find. Joanns filled for bankruptcy. Some old employees are getting letters a out rhe company and paying its debtors. However it's also being theorized that they're just going to "re-brand" and raise prices. So you're not alone on the confusion, but no one really has a clear answer to what will happen next.

I went in for fabric last week, the employee told me if I’ve been following the news about JoAnns to “get ready for it”- the store closure. Corporate only needs to give them a 7 day notice. Another employee was adamant that she needed to clock out because corporate was getting on their case about working past scheduled hours.

Fortunately, I've been around the edges of Central St Martins in London since forever, not from a fashion angle, but from other arts, so I know the shops supplying their students very well. I've never made it across to Goldhawk Road, though.

In the last few weeks, I’ve seen Joann fabrics( brands) going up for auction , whole bolts at a local auction in Washington State. But when I searched for a closed Joann fabrics store, I couldn’t find any info about it.

I read Joann’s has filed for bankruptcy but are not going out of business yet. The company needs financial help bc it’s been losing to cheaper craft stores after the pandemic ended.

@@deborahpatton861they weren’t making enough revenue to service the massive amount of debt their private equity owners had saddled them with. The wave of extra sales during the pandemic hobby boom delayed things but this was inevitable as soon as they were bought in 2017.
