The chapter was great, but I am really glad to be done with the three points of view of the same battle.

Long prep, very quick battle. I am sure there would have been a metaphor that works for that

Can't help but think that Cristan Cole's death will parallel the end of barristan in winds. He is a stranger in a strange land. It would be sad for such a decorated Knight and living legend to be unrecognised in mireen and fade into obscurity after an unceremonious end in battle for warring sides who he has no ties to. In previous books GRRM really emphasised the importance of who barristan would join up with after he was dismissed as a plot point after Joffrey was installed. For it to not mean anything would complement the fact that war is not heroic and idealic but gruesome and chaotic. Another reason to kill barristan is to help come to terms with all the potential POV characters in mireen.

Another excellent chapter. The way it was written I kept waiting for the sell sword companies to turn on Barriston, but no, they came through.

These chapters are great, but it really shows that these should have been the ending of ADWD with some other redundant boring chapters cut.

It’s hard for me to watch ASOIAF videos because of Preston. Shit isn’t as interesting as the shit he presents. Most say Jon is who is in Robb’s Will, but Preston presents such an interesting idea with it being Cat, and how that could impact the story at large, in addition to her having Robb’s crown rn as well as being a vengeful zombie. Like I can’t go back to that basic shit now. So thank you Preston for all the work you have done, and fuck you for presenting ideas that are so damn compelling that everything else is boring as hell.

Over a quarter of the way through the book and still no northern chapters. It was funny at first like haha make them wait but now it’s just torture and we are going to get a chapter about a dead frog before we get the chapter about the dead hero of the story lol
