I found with toddlers that picking them up actually helps. I don’t understand why she wouldn’t pick her up and cuddle her. And think about all the possibilities of why they’re crying: hungry? thirsty? sick? tired? Diaper needs changing? Bored?
@washingtonskies8698
@washingtonskies8698 2 года назад
Exactly!!!!!! So many reasons why they could be crying out. Some parents think letting them cry until they “soothe themselves” works. It doesn’t. It adds trauma. Trauma that they aren’t even aware of as adults because it’s impossible to remember what your mind and body went through at the age. That’s why I love the book “The Body Keeps The Score” because it talks about the formative years, these baby years and how trauma impacts you for life sometimes in ways you don’t even know why or how. Letting your babies cry it out, only prolongs the frustration for you and the suffering for them. Picking them up and cuddling them, saying I’m sorry or just talking to them about anything, soothes them so much alone + they have needs and the only way to voice them is by crying, especially when they know they have parents that won’t come to their aid right away. It breaks my heart and she shouldn’t even have had these babies.

It’s really hard to comprehend but a human’s personality is mostly formed from the age of birth to 3 and if a baby or toddler is crying and the parents do not come that can cause borderline personality disorder- the main symptom is fear of abandonment and unstable relationships. When you’re a baby and you’re crying and the parents do not comfort them it causes the baby to fear life or death- if your parent does not come when the baby cries the baby will die… it’s dependent upon the parent for the baby to survive. I know it’s hard to comprehend but research it- so much of a person’s personality is formed between birth and 3 and that’s a huge cause of Borderline Personality Disorder- also other things contribute such as parents fighting and a severely anxiety filled environment etc. I want to add the commenter above is absolutely correct- if you do not comfort your child when crying it does cause severe trauma and mental disorders. I have had to go to a lot of counseling because my parents had me very young and I was a mistake and basically not wanted and my counselor explained all this to me and it was so hard for me to understand how what happened to me when I was born until 3 years old could effect me today but it IS your formative years and so much happens in the brain during that time. So d@mn sad that making videos is more important and people support this ABUSE. And YES it’s abuse- just because she’s not whacking them in the head doesn’t mean it’s not abuse.

I am not a mother, but I would still comfort a child who knows and trusts me. IMMEDIATELY. WITHOUT QUESTION. Hug, bounce, pat, soothe, sing, comfort. Whatever it takes. It's what I do for a living. It's what my parents did when I was growing up, so I know how important it is. True, sometimes going for a drive or a stroller ride can rock a baby to sleep, but it is NOT a replacement. NOT a substitute. A parent's love and compassion is the best cure. PERIOD.

I don't agree that there needs to be both parents in a house to make it function right,some single mums and dads do a fantastic job on their own with their kids,yes obviously it helps to have two parents but it's not a necessity for a stable upbringing,one good parent can absolutely do it, unfortunately these twins don't even have that.
@rebeccaplatt29
@rebeccaplatt29 2 года назад
I disagree. Take a moment to research the childhood of criminals and gang members. There is an overwhelming number that report one or both parents were physically and/or emotionally absent. Gangs are formed for emotional reasons, not because it looks cool. When there is something missing in the human spirit, we look to fill it, and that's how addiction happens. Humans don't always make the best decisions when self-medicating. But if two loving and responsible parents are present, things go much differently. I've seen both sides first hand and the differences are night and day.

@@rebeccaplatt29 that's because there's research on gangs etc unfortunately single parents that do a fantastic job raising their kids is not documented enough to get accurate research,as I said above two stable parents are obviously better than one but that in no way means it's a necessity for a kid to grow up in the right environment..I will add that that's just my opinion and I do respect yours.

It used to break my heart when my son would cry as a baby, I couldn’t just ignore him like that. Even if you’re sleep training or whatever and they are crying the “experts” say you still go in and soothe them to let them know that you are still there. She was hysterical and needed her mommy to show her some love, not ignore her and go swimming. I don’t necessarily agree with a kid has to have a dad, my ex husband abused me to the point of putting me in the hospital. My son is better off with just me. There are still mamas out here that do everything for our babies, not like this monstrous woman. I have always loved waking up hearing my son talking or babbling to himself. I don’t see how people defend her, she acts like those beautiful babies are just burdens, she looks disgusted all the time when she is around them. I never want to be lumped in with single moms like her that clearly would rather be doing anything than taking care of her babies. Those clips make me sick, and my heart breaks for those babies. Why do people support her for treating her babies like that? What is wrong with the world that she makes tons of money off of being annoyed with her kids, laying in bed when they are crying and need to be fed and changed. I can’t relate to a mom that just lets her babies scream, or even has a thought about feeding the kids their least fave food to “get back at them”. I was raised by an alcoholic and watched my mom die from it when I was 21 and my baby sister was 5. No kid should have some of the memories I have of their drunk mom. One of the hardest things was having two different moms, the mom who was kind and made me laugh, and the mom who was drunk and would saw and do awful things. I don’t know why she is so adored by people, she is not what a single mom should be portrayed as.

I don’t think families NEED dads in the picture, but I understand where you’re coming from. Children just deserve better parents - and single moms/dads deserve more support. It’s really sad honestly. My mom raised all 3 of us (my little brothers and I), and I feel as though I had a great childhood. She sacrificed a LOT for all of us though - to make sure we never suffered. And she did it without drinking! Lol! I can’t thank my mom enough for everything she did so we could all thrive. But it was HARD for her. Given we all may have “daddy issues” now, but that’s due to my father and his terrible addictions & broken promises. 🙃 BUT, I can’t thank my mom enough for pushing through, and taking care of all of us basically alone. I wouldn’t be the mom I am today without her unconditional love, support and wisdom.

Thank you for that, it pissed me off when he said that. I grew up with my mum and dad. My mum tried her best and loved us despite having a bad childhood herself and having a crap husband who controlled her. My dad was hopeless, he lost interest in being a father when we were young and had no time for us. He treated us like we were a burden (even though my mum did all the work) we'd have been way better off with my mum as a single mum than being raised by both of them together. She eventually divorced him, I wish she'd done it sooner.

I have NEVER seen a childs eyes look like that from crying … not okay I mean sometimes, very rarely, does a baby cry for no reason. But even if she was crying because for whatever reason she was just sad, I bet everything that if she sat and tried to console her for a while she would stop. The problem is that she gave up. By all means, take a breather if you need it, but don’t literally go swimming and let them keep crying. Either something is wrong, or they just need comfort.

I think it's because the creators that Josh calls out in his videos report his content. People like Maia Knight make TikTok and Instagram boatloads of money, and it's because of that, that a complaint from one of the creators that Josh covers will carry more weight with the powers that be at these platforms than anything that Josh says in any of his videos. I doubt that any social media platform will change their rules to better protect children, unless there are laws enacted that force them to do so.

Hi Josh, I’ve been watching your videos for a while and you’ve changed my opinion about family vlogging / children exploitation through social media. I’m not a Maia fan and don’t watch her. I wanted to share my thoughts on your promotion of the “traditional family” and idea that a father is necessary for healthy child development. I think promoting notions such as these can disregard the experience of single parents, divorced parents, widowers, LGBTQ+ parents, or couples experiencing IPV. I feel like if I were a single mother hearing that my child needed a father they simply do not have, I’d feel pretty shitty and not empowered to feel I can offer my child a good life. I agree with you that the more caregivers in a child’s life to love, protect, and provide for them, the better. Just some thoughts from a social worker who has seen many different family units and dynamics and strives to help parents feel empowered :) Looking forward to your next videos!

Numerous studies (including longitudinal studies) have shown that children fare better in traditional two parent households. Having a father present has shown to decrease teen pregnancy, delinquency, mental illnesses and has shown to increase good grades in children. Science is science. It's not here to hurt feelings. You're thinking in your emotions and not common sense. I'm gobsmacked you're a social worker and don't acknowledge the immeasurable benefit of a father being present in a child's life at all costs where possible of course. And I'm not talking about mums who have lost a partner, and for reasons beyond their control, the fathers presence in the home is simply not possible. One only need look to the catastrophic break down of the African American communities, particularly the young males who have no father figure in the home and join deadly gangs as a way of replacing that absence. The US govt convinced black mothers after the civil rights movement they don't need a father in the home and to rely on the teet of the govt instead, and now we have an entire generation of welfare/food stamps dependent single mothers and as a result, an unfathomable amount of dead black males before the age of 20, in figures 5 times higher than that of the recorded deaths AND casualties in the Iraq AND Afghanistan war COMBINED . My father leaving the home when I was 6 was thee most traumatic event that's effected me right into my adult life. There's a reason the traditional family was so successful for thousands of years, bcz children, where POSSIBLE, need both parents. Josh wasn't referring to single mothers as a result of something out of their control like death, murder etc, neither was he minimising the monumental and incredible job single mums do, he's speaking specifically to mums like Mia, you know the person this video is about , who continously make poor choices by having one night stands, then get pregnant and have babies knowing damn well she's robbing her children of the immeasurable benefits of a father in their lives, simply bcz she couldn't exercise any self control and not open her legs on the first night. Those are the kinds of mums he's addressing, certainly not the examples you use as a way to correct his suggestion of the traditional family being key for healthy children both physically, emotionally and mentally. This is not about "offending" single parents, it's about common sense in how the traditional family has been successful for thousands of years until it broke down and now we see the catastrophic results. Even if you don't like the notion of Josh expressing how important a mother AND father is bcz it hurts the feelings of single parents, although the statement in no way diminishes their efforts, but if you asked any child if they had the option of both parents in the home, I cannot imagine one saying no, excluding a damaging /abusive /bad parent of course, and ultimately this, and what Josh does is about the best thing for the children. I can't tell you how it effected me when my dad moved out when I was 6, the trauma remains with me to this day. What Josh said is for the benefit of the child first and foremost and not about codling the feelings of single parents. There's a reason evolution requires both parents to make a child, bcz evolution understands it requires both parents to raise a child to its full potential , if the single parent was as successful as the traditional family, evolution would recognise that and do away with the need for a father like it has in snails that are hermaphrodites, but history tells us for millenia that a father is needed for the child to reach its maximum potential therfore ensuring the safety of the species. The Woke key words like "empowerment" mean sweet fk all to a child and benefits no one but the ego of the parent, all Josh and this community at least cares about is the kids. The adults can look after themselves.

When you say “bring back traditional families”, are you suggesting that these family bloggers, who are mostly married straight people, are equal to all LGBT+ parents? And also, bring them back from where? Most families in the US and Canada can be considered ‘traditional’. Divorce rates are higher now than they were in the 50s because people are more motivated to leave abusive relationships, if that’s what you mean. The rates of abuse aren’t higher in all types of non traditional families compared to traditional families

Although he treated her badly, it was still better than her home life so she felt happier with him. He was a terrible husband and father. We'd have been much better off with our mum being a single mum of she'd had the strength to go it alone. It's nonsense that kids need both parents. What they need is GOOD parents, whatever the gender, whether it's a single mum or dad. They just need a good parent or parents who do their best for them. I am a single Mom of four boys. I had to make a choice when my youngest was 2 months, stay with their Dad who developed a drug addiction (which he still suffers from to this day and has not been in our children's lives since) or become a single Mom. I chose the latter, there were (are) hard times but I never neglected my children. I would have loved to have a complete family. Two are 13 months apart and were little partners in crime, but I just had to laugh (inside) when they got into the eggs, coffee, and even syrup(that we laugh about now how the older one "painted" my area rug and little brother then attempted to clean him with napkins) I learned I couldn't get a quick shower or switch a load of laundry unless they were asleep. I loved on my boys, cuddling them when they were sad or not feeling well. Three are now teenagers, happy, smart, and exceptional young men. My youngest is also. It breaks my heart to see these videos, something needs to be done before these precious girls are seriously hurt.
