Going Through The Fort McHenry Tunnel Under The Baltimore Harbor (Patapsco River) On I-95 In MD 

The Fort McHenry Tunnel is a 4 tube, 8 lane, tunnel system that takes the traffic on I-95 under the water of the Baltimore Harbor. A few facts about the Fort McHenry Tunnel:
1) It was opened for use in Nov. 1985
2) The tunnel is 1.5 miles long
3) The lowest part of the tunnel is 107 feet (33 m) below harbor water surface
4) At the time it was built it was the most expensive underwater tunnel project in the United States (Passed by the Big Dig in Boston)
5) Original plans were to build an 8 lane bridge, but were changed to a tunnel in 1975
