The Ego SNT2400 2 stage snow blower lived up to the hype as it cleared the way through the snow falls of late 2019 and earlier 2020. The SNT2400 is a 56 volt battery powered 2 stage snow snow blower packed with plenty of great features. It can be purchased as a bare tool (SNT2400), or in a kit (SNT2405) with a dual port charger and 2 Ego 56 volt power plus batteries. The SNT2400 is available at Ego independent dealers, Lowes, select Ace Hardware stores, and other locations.

Batteries have 5 year warranty. They come with most packages. No gas emissions, no oil to change, less noise. I have their mower and love it. This is investment for the future not for the faint of heart or cheapskate lolol.
@nobrien1
@nobrien1 2 года назад
And the batteries should last longer than the warranty period; they are usually good for 500 or more charging cycles, though their capacity may diminish slightly over time. If you use a snowblower 30 times a season, the batteries could potentially last over 16 years. Fun fact: Using a small engine appliance like a mower / snowblower for an hour produces as much pollution as driving a gas car for 300 miles.

You need 2 batteries, not 1, $900.00, hahaha, you better off buying a toro/arien and dealing with the gas. tHESE are just prototypes for the rich. $900 + 2000 for machine
@beebob1279
@beebob1279 2 года назад
WOW. IT's that much? I've been looking at these battery machines. They don't talk about how much the replacement batteries are. That's an awful lot of gas to make up for the battery.
@dordoight3448
@dordoight3448 2 года назад
@@beebob1279 Yes, the machine itself $2000 with the 10 amp batteries, then they don't last the entire driveway if it is a big snowfall [like the 20 inches], so you need a second set $900. So it is effectively $3000+ with tax/vat, depending on your country/region state. They are prototypes for the rich, because $3000 gets you near commercial grade Ariens/Toros which are top of the line. And the 10 amp batteries have just 5 year warranty and the 7.5 just 3 year and no one knows how long these things will last, Now in total fairness, gas blowers are going to have to be serviced frequently and maintained, drain gas lines and oil and in my area snowblower service 1 time a year = $200, so over 5 years is $1000. Now that they add ethanol in the gas, you waste gas and must drain it out in the summer/spring. So over time, the Ego may not be such a bad deal. The big issue with the Ego in my view is low horse power and electrical overload. Are you fine spending $3000 for your machine to have electrical overload 30 minutes into your blow shut off, stall in and out and be out there for hours? it is a good machine, and I wanted to buy an electric emotionally, but objectively, it isn't near the gas ones, even the best electric ones pale in CCs/horsepower, so I guess, I just got to deal with the service pain in the ass of a gas and noxious fumes.
@beebob1279
@beebob1279 2 года назад
@@dordoight3448 The ethanol is a problem. There are gas stations in my state that still get the No Ethanol gas. It's the same as the 94 octane gas price wise, but I use it in all my yard tools. I still use a stabilizer in the gas, but feel pretty comfortable with it when accidentally left in a machine. When I go upstate for a weekend (Pa.) i'll throw extra cans in the back of the truck and get six or seven gallons of this stuff. I don't have issues with my machines taking them for service. No ethanol to wreck havoc on them. My snow blower hasn't been serviced for seven years. It was given to me by a co-worker who couldn't get it to run. A new carburetor and it's been running every year. This year it was started for the first time all year and it took two pulls to get it going. It's one of those cheap two cycle engines. It's all I need for now. But those battery operated blowers will come down in price. I guess I could get a corded blower. They are the least expensive of any of them.

@DirtyBuffaloProductions
@DirtyBuffaloProductions 2 года назад
The model of the snow blower is SNT2400. The reason that the box says SNT2405 is because it is a kit that comes with batteries and a charger. If you purchased the snow blower as a bare tool (snow blower only) then the box would say SNT2400.

If you release the auger handle for a certain amount of time you have to press the power button again to get the auger to engage again. There may be an eventual timeout for the wheels as well but I would have to go and test. The same for the lights. I found that if I didn't have the auger engaged for about 10 seconds then I had to hit the auger again. While if I just released the handle and engaged it again quickly enough then it would start throwing snow again.

It's fair to count the battery replacement in the Total Cost of Ownership, but unfair to do so while omitting the costs of gasoline and tuneups (or your time, to refill tanks and DIY maintenance). The batteries are HUGE rated between 500 and 800 discharges which is quite a large number of storms or mowing. The savings are there, but more obvious if you buy other tools in the ecosystem.

@@dordoight3448 3 year warranty means that is the minimum life span. For an average driveway with a snowy winter, you should get twice that easily. When I bought the mower, I got an extra 2 years added to the battery warranty for filling out a simple survey. I'm still skeptical of these battery machines and the price is showing me I'm right. At the rate of the replacement batteries, I'll keep the gas blower. Three year warranty is nothing for a machine. I would skip the battery idea and just buy an electric plug in model. Cheaper and not 450 dollar replacement. Oh wait, the machine takes two batteries. 1000 bucks every three years? NO WAY. I've got a small snowblower that's close to 20 years old. Falling apart but still works.
