When I was a teenager, we went to the drive-in and parked in the back so that we could make out. When I was small my Dad took us to the drive-in because on Tuesdays you could get in for a dollar for the whole carload of people. Dad would pop a large grocery bag full of popcorn ad we would buy a gallon jug of root beer. There was also a playground for the little kids before the show started. We usually had two main features and on weekends three main features. They had something for everybody.
I have a drive in an hour away from my house and it still has a playground! I love going there but it’s been a while since I’ve gone due to the long drive.

I would love to go to a drive in and dress in 40s and 50s vintage gear, seeing all the vintage cars and outfits. It would be a perfect date for me as well, but alas there are no actual drive ins near me. :(
You are Audrey Hepburns daughter just living in the wrong time period i love that you radiate a true Vintage essence it just comes so naturally 🐇🤍 ps. This video is so cool and so beautifully done i wish i hang out with y’all a girl can dream lol!

Drive in theaters are one of my favorite places to go for a cute vintage outing! I'm fortunate to have one in my town that's still up, so I'm grateful that others can experience how fun it is! 😄
Don't know if it's been said yet but the posts are there because there used to be lil detachable speakers that you would take off and put on your car window. And that was how you used to hear the movie. We're spoiled today with nice audio coming in on the radio. Lol. Just a bit of history for anyone who didn't know. 💕✨
I agree when I heard his attitude I live in 2020s I was just thinking to myself just calm down and do some research and just have some fun I am a history enthusiast as well and I love the 50s my wife I into it as well so just calm down and enjoy with your lady.

OMG We went there to watch the Tom and Jerry movie also!! We parked by the restrooms but brought a bunch of snacks and drinks so we had to pay the $5 fee. My friend made a truck bed and the girls were chilling there. Definitely a must-do anyone by the Ruskin area! We drove from Tampa, so about a 30-minute drive
@@ameliagreg6566 yea, I didn’t know and got scared it wasn’t allowed 😅 but I spent about $30 at Walmart and got a bunch of snacks and drinks and then paid $5 to bring them in
I've always wanted to go to one of these. They just seem so relaxed and romantic. If I ever get a chance to go to the US again, this will be on the list! Great video, and your top was STUNNING.
I always liked the Tom and Jerry franchise. And I'm really impressed that you got to see one of its films at this sort of place. You're really lucky. 😍👏👏
@@manlymcstud8588 Of course. I'm in Southern California. A town called Ojai (pronounced o-hi), Ventura County, North of Los Angeles. (Ojai is where they filmed the movie "Easy A.")
@@arenjtumastens closest one to you might be west wind in santa barbara. not sure how far away that is. the one in my area i like the best is about 35 minutes away, and it's worth it, imo.
Drive-ins are definitely a staple to experience for the vintage and cinema enthusiasts! I'm so glad that they're coming back. There's been pop-up drive-in at cities like Philly and NYC. Appreciate your take at the drive-in! Looking forward to more of these 💗
I love drive-ins!! I’m so happy to see it was busy and maintaining business 🥰 I’m lucky to have a 1951 drive-in in my hometown. We have the original concession stand still similar the one you went to. Whenever we drive past at night we always switch our radio on the station to listen to the movie as we go by 😆
There's a drive-in theatre near my house, and they have been a quintessential part of my family's summers since I was little. We sneak in popcorn, candy, and Gatorade, wear our pajamas, and bring blankets to watch the movies from the bed of my dad's truck. My family has a lot of good memories from that place. Because of COVID, we didn't get to go last summer, but we can hopefully go again this year.
this was so cute seeing you navigate around the drive in! I have one very close to me and go all time during the summer so this atmosphere is very homey and familiar for me 🥺
My husband and I use to go to this Drive-In when we were dating. (Almost 18 years ago) We actually were talking about this place the other day and how we hoped it was still around!! This made our day!
As someone who lives in LA we have like none and the ones we have are so expensive for no reason but I use to go to the drive in all the time as a kid 🥰
We still have a handful of 1950's drive-ins here in New England and they're all equally great! They still play all the old intermission ads and you can catch classic tunes (and the Grease soundtrack) on the radio before the movie starts. They even play 50's and 60's horror movies near Halloween!
I love this video, thank you for taking us along. All the drive in theaters around here closed a long time ago. You look beautiful and just right for a 50s night.
My boyfriend of 2 years asked me to be his GF in the only drive in left in Puerto Rico at the time (Arecibo) Called Autocine Santana🇵🇷 and it was such a cute date we watched Aladdin live action🥺💖 Now since covid theres new drive ins but not vintage like the one in Arecibo thats the OG drive in
Love love love this!!!! So cute!!! Also, it's so fun seeing you soooo happyyyyyyyy with your man! He has a nice voice. If that's not wierd to say. A nice voice. Of course, love the OOTD
Those posts in the ground are where the speakers you would hang of your car window were kept when not in use they were hardwired to the main building. Since radio is cheaper and better they are no longer used.
i went to a drive in theater a couple of months ago and it was really fun. i also wanted to say that i absolutely adore your outfit. you look amazing in it and it's definitely perfect for a drive in movie theater
Jess, no offense, but this dude seems like an a** & needs to check his attitude & how he speaks to you. I do hope & wish you happiness, but just careful with how you let someone speak to you, which ultimately leads to how they treat you. Much love & respect for you. 🖤🤘🏻
Don't assume though - she even clarified in a comment that he just has a "sailor's mouth". Some people naturally come off as a bit stand-offish, you could have politely told her to take care of herself without calling him an a**.
I just discover Drive In Theaters this pandemic i didn't know that there will be a drive in theater since 1950 what a great idea more Vlogs to come Jessica!💙
It’s times like these that make me so happy there’s a drive in theater in my town. I remember that my friends and I would take three seperate cars to get three different radio station tickets for each movie and we’d just rotate between them going from car to car when we were board 😂
I love the drive in. When I was really little my mom took me for the first time and it was really fun. Then after the movie she took me to her old favorite drive in restaurant. I don’t remember what its called anymore but the onion rings were crisppp. The drive in is still open but it’s a far drive. The last time I went they had IT out (the new one).
Hi, Jessica and happy Thursday!😊😊😊😊. I love drive-in movies like this. In 1997, I went to the Ford-Wyoming drive-in movie to see "Twister" will Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt.💙💙💙💙💙. It was super awesome with this F5 tornado picked up a 15,000 pound tanker truck sliding down the highway. Now that's my favorite scene.💙💙💙💙💙. Also, your outfit is fantastic!💖💖💖💖💖👍👍👍👍👍
You look stunning! And I love your outfit, would love to see an outfit collection havnt seen some of your vintage finds/ clothing for a while and it always intrigues me ❣️❣️
@@iggymcgeek730 You know grammar so well you had to edit your comment to fix your miss spells. Just say your mad as clearly your immature. Commenting for correcting people for a tiny bit self pleasure all because your offended.
Very cool...I used to go to drive-in movies in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. with my parents when I was little. Left a strong memory. You look great. Need to take some photos in that concession with you in your 50's out fit...better yet, you should be on the big screen!
The nearest drive in to me is 1 hour away in another state and its a hard drive, but its sooo worth it. My family used to go once every summer and we would catch at least 2 movies. Its definitely something everyone should have a chance to experience at least once.
I grew up in the fifties and sixties and drive ins were so much fun, we esp. liked the Dusk to Dawn specials which had four movies, for the kids there was always a playground up front, plenty of food at the drive in snack bar usually pizzas and hot dogs and burgers, and of course milk shakes, what a treat
There was a drive in movie theater in the town I grew up in. They would play a family friendly movie then a more PG-13/R rated movie afterwards after showing a quick video on the history of drive in theaters and up-coming movie previews. First time I went to it was in 5th grade with a friend and we watched the 2015 Cinderella movie. Then a few weeks later, I went with my family when they had a Throw Back Thursday and we watched Back to the Future and Jaws. They definitely need to make a comeback because they're MUCH better and COMFIER than modern movie theater experiences.
When I was a kid, we had two different drive-in theaters in the area. One got plowed over real quick so they could put in a Montgomery Wards and a JC Penny. The Gateway Theater stayed open for many years after that. We had an old Ford F-100 with an extended bed and a regular cap (not a camping cap). My brother tricked it out with a mini-mattress, a bunch of blankets, and some pillows. You park that thing backwards, pop open the cap, drop the tailgate, and watch the movie laying down in bed.
We have a drive-in in our old town one of the last but not the last one. My family owns it or pretty much my family threw marriage. I love the Plaza and the Drive-in my favorite days are Wednesday and Saturday matinee days. We watch old movies. E.T, stand by me, Jurassic park, now and then, all of the good ones even silent films but not really played anymore.
Hi there! Awesome vid! I’m an Orlando local, I’m not sure what part in Florida you’re in but there’s another great drive in place called Silver Moon Drive-in in Lakeland! Two movies for the price of one and discount Thursdays! Also you can bring in outside food and drinks 😊🙌🏽
I went to the Silver Moon Drive-In in Lakeland for Valentine’s Day and they were showing Grease and Footloose as a double feature! The snack bar looks pretty much the same and they do have marked out parking spots. They show modern and old movies and either pair up stand alone films or show the movie and the sequel. They have 2 screens as well so you can technically pick between 4 movies. I highly recommend.
OMG, I know where Ruskin, Florida is! My aunt used to live in that town. Such a fun vlog. 💗 Makes me want to visit a drive in movie theater again. I haven’t been to one since I was around 4 years old.
We don't have drive-in theaters in my country. I wish we did. i'm sure it's an amazing experience! Thank you for sharing Jessica. And your look in the video is adorable!
I went to a drive in movie not to long ago! We watched the nightmare before Christmas, my experience wasn’t the best because we could barely hear the movie and a guy put trash bags over his headlights so they wouldn’t shine in peoples faces but it was windy so the trash bags ended up making the headlights flash in our face. It was still fun none the less! I’m glad you had a good time.
I'm not from the 50s and i've been to drive in theaters lol me and my family did it a lot because it was fun and cheap. That was back in the early 2000s idk why they wouldn't still be doing them to this day. This video reminded me of those good times! :)
dude yesss i love drive-in movies! i need to go back to this place some time, but anyways for background i live kind of in the suburbs of Kentucky, but my actual house is in a rural part (if that makes any sense). so anyway, my life is a weird mix of old and new. but near us is several small towns and one has an amazing, authentic drive-in theatre. fr the little store they keep in the parking lot has the original paint and 50s retro look (kind of looks like a slightly run-down mini retro dinner from the outside, but when you go in they serve things like pizza, hotdogs, and pretzels and there isn't any seating or remodeling, literally original from the 50s). idk i just love it so much, legit the cutest thing ever and i felt i should share i guess
My local drive in played classic movies last year so when they played Grease I dressed up as a Pink Lady it was so much fun! I try and go as many time as I can each year!
I'm glad you cleared up the misleading title in the first minute of your video. NOT the LAST drive in, just ONE of the last in Florida. Hell, we got two here in Maine that I know of. They are few and far between but they're still out there.
LOL he’s just got a tough sense of humor. He actually drove me here twice now, first time it was sold out and insisted to drive me again the next day to make sure I got to experience this! He’s actually a sweetie
We still have a drive- in about 30 minutes from my home we live in southern Kentucky the drive- in is in Pulaski county ky. They use to be two of them and one shut down. we use to go to the same one when I was a kid it was always a treat getting out and going to the concession stand to order our food I guess the food is a throw back to the early days but we always loved the burgers and popcorn.. I wish everyone would try to go at least a couple of times to enjoy it. Also back in the day the way you listened to the move was threw the speaker you would hang it on your car window and roll it up I do admit though it was usually not very plain but it was a good family night..
To get popcorn and drinks at the drive-in, you have to walk up to the concession stand to buy it about twenty minutes or more before the movie starts depending on how long you have to wait in line. That's the way we did it back in the 70s and 80s.
Yes it is standard op. proc. to walk over to the concession shack, get your snacks and walk back to the car. This is how it was done back in the day at every drive in I went to, which was quite a few. It is a Drive in but not a drive in such as A&W, Big Boy etc. Don't expect someone to skate up to your window and take your order, although some movie drive ins had people walking around with hot dogs and soft drinks etc. in a container hanging around their necks, but it was not the main way you got your snacks. Girl friend sends boyfriend to the snack house, he brings back dogs, burgers, popcorn, candy etc. The concession bar was also kind of a hangout where you saw your friends from school and got to be cool and have a good time. And of course some of your friends came back to your car, hopped in and good times were had. The good behavior speech you got was quite a bit more stern than what we got back in the 60's. Usually there was a 15 second warning to be on your best conduct, no necking etc. then they moved on to let's go up to the lobby and get yourselves a treat jingle. Of course no one paid attention to the conduct warning and there was lots of necking going on all over the place and of course no covid BS going on back then. Thanks for posting, I love anything about the Drive In and you did a good job on this.
Waow excelent! I didn't think place like that still exist! I enjoy american 50's fashion, architecture, westerns and... music!!!! (that I like to sing and play) Hi from France.
