I don't know if I can express this or not, I'll try. So I'm in the kitchen prepping dinner, stereo playing, this song comes on and I freeze, overcome with the sensation of being swept back like the rush of a wormhole and an almost unbearable desire to be immersed again in the zeitgeist of 1975, summertime in the Texas hill country when music was everything. I'm not even a Led Zeppelin fan but this song was in heavy rotation on nascent FM stations and I always thought it might be beautiful done by someone other than Robert Plant ... and sure enough it is. What a superb rendition, I've listened to it every day since you posted it. Your voice, the hypnotic accompaniment - well, I'm a moth to flame. Thanks so much for sharing this.

Yes, hypnotic is exactly the word for it! I was thinking of a way to explain her version of this, and that perfectly sums it up. This is one of my favorite songs, and I could not love this rendition any more. So good.

I was only 6 months old when IV was released so I don't remember when "Going to California" first came out. But I remember the very first time I heard it in 1981. I can tell you, I will remember the first time I heard this version. Different than the original, but familiar like an old friend. Hauntingly beautiful! Thank you for recording this!

I heard this rendition yesterday, and for the first time. The word I'd use to describe it is "ethereal" - not only her singing and playing, but also the accompaniment, in particular the drone vocal. Incredible.

Well said. What a wonderful rendition. When I was 35 years old, I was talking to a someone in their teens and mentioned Led Zeppelin and they said who? It was at that point that I knew I was old. Now over 30 years later, it is wonderful to see young musicians keeping Great music alive!

Oh my goodness. This is the most beautiful rendition I have EVER heard. I’m a heavy duty Led Zep fan, and this is one of my favorites. Until today I thought nothing could top Robert Plant’s acoustic version of this one, but girl you might have him beat. It’s as if the original version is a carved, beautifully varnished wooden instrument, and you’ve carefully and respectfully stripped it down to reveal the beauty of the grain. Stunning. Couldn’t be more perfect.

I also just recently found these two, and it's all I've been listening to. They cover songs from bands I really like that stand alongside the originals (and often surpass them). I am enchanted by Sierra's singing, and the arrangements are perfect.

It's a beautiful interpretation of that song. I grew up in the 70s, but I'm not sure they were happier times Vietnam War,, Kent State, and Nixon come immediately to mind. If you were anywhere near Boston, Mass in the 70s, Boston was rearing its prejudiced head.

At least in the near past, we did not have AIDS, Covid-19, like I said school shootings, mass shootings, trans confusion where people do not know whether they are a boy or a girl, men marrying men, forced diversity, increasing crime and no one hardly goes to jail for crime anymore, massive obesity, poverty, hunger, political strife, ect. I could go on and on about this if I cared to. I usually do not like romanticizing the past and it can irritate me when I read others doing it sometimes but if I really think about it.... the past was better, and things seem to be getting worse.

My household growing up was Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and the Stones! I'm almost 59, still a Diehard Stones fan. My sister, 64 into the Beatles, still. And, my brother, 62...LOVES Led Zeppelin! I can't wait to share this with him.

For the entire song my heart was lifted above everything to soar like a bird through blue skies and wisps of white clouds. With tears welling in my eyes as the song ends, I wished for your voice and the music to carry on forever. This is very, very great rendition of this piece and moreover for me, I so appreciate some of the young people of today who still appreciate the music that came from the early 70's.
