See Glacier National Park and Going-to-the-Sun-Road while learning what you will need and view the amazing views. This road opened on July, 1933. The park was established May 11, 1910. It is a spectacular road and considered one of the most scenic drives in America!

Just found your channel and am now a subscriber! I really enjoyed how you incorporated some specific details - length of trails, etc. I look forward to watching some of your other videos since I am in Ohio and it looks like you have done some parks out this way too!

I would make a clarification on the timeline of the build. The dedication and opening was in July 1933, but the origin or its construction goes back to 1911.

Cedar waxwing- love them! Thanks for the report! Where are you from? You sound so much like Alabama or Mississippi 👍 Heading there next month- didn’t realize the park’s lodging shuts down (well most of it) by September 15th- it’ll be interesting to see if the trails are busy!

I first visited Glacier Park in 1978. Moved to Whitefish in 1982. Lived there until 2021. Put on over 5000 trail miles, summitted peaks well over 100 times, backcountry camped and fished dozens and dozens of times in dozens and dozens of places, and biked the closed road during plowing season at least a dozen times a year (reaching the Pass at least once a year)for 25+ years. it was a friendly place. The SUN Rd. was adequate until about 2005 or so. Then, due to an increase in Flathead Valley residency from retirees and digital nomads it progressively got too busy to accommodate the increased traffic. By 2012 or so it got crazy, and by 2015 it was ridiculous. and, sadly, the influx of too many brought with it attitudes. inconsideration, arrogance, rudeness, pushiness, and downright meanness. the friendliness disappeared. so i moved away....to the Andes. didn't want to cohort the unfriendly throngs who took over. LOVE ECUADOR!! Glacier is a beautiful Park, but needs a transit system and needs to enforce the rules better

That is a very thought provoking history. I Can see how that is very hard to watch places change. I have seen some places do the same.

@@HeidiAnnHikes yes. but the place didn't change....the people did. what i witnessed was America changing. feel free to read my full book. Kindle has it for $3. YOU ESSAY: Supply-side Lies and the Middle Class Demise [pub. 2012] FYI - i was a broadcast journalist for 11 years in the 80's - early 90's. worked radio and TV in the Flathead valley for 4 different stations in my career. then i got my MBA in the mid 90's (Missoula) and promptly returned to Glacier to seek the peace and wisdom the mountains offer.....
