well i got to Gojira in 2003 /4 , the soNg remembrance and the link album got me into them , at the time they were just a local band who started to have a small name in the french metal community , i'm french , and i saw them in a small venue , thare was maybe like what 600 people maybe ...how far they have come from a french local band to one of the geatest metal band of all time

FMTS is a good album but not as good as everyone says imo, as a huge Gojira fan, it’s not in my top 3. I’d rank The Way Of All Flesh, Terra Incognita and L’enfant sauvage higher.. the mooshy guitar tone is what’s throwing me a bit off. The title track tho is absolute killer, the way it goes into ‘to sirius’ is beautiful. Don’t agree with the statement they’re not as technical as everyone says. Terra incognita is a beautiful album that proves this, even more The Way Of All Flesh. Come on, how can you not hear the intricacies on these tracks. And like you guys mentioned, live is where they totally won me over. Their live performances i’ve seen from the past is just the quintessence of heavy death metal to me. The Link Alive from 2003 is the definition of metal in a video. Also, try their older demo’s Possessed with one track called ‘bleeding ‘. So raw and heavy, damn really missing the old Gojira. Hopefully the next album we’re going back to some Terra Incognita. Good honest review 🤘

@@mlk_ix2831 if i had to pick 3, and that’s impossible actually, because 1, it changes from month to month, but i’ll go with In The Forest, why not Clone, and The Way of All Flesh title track

L'enfant and TWOAF were my favorite for a long time and I never bothered to listen to FMTS, outside of maybe backbone or flying whales. But after 2 full playthroughs I fell in love. Easily the best album of 2000s metal IMO.

The nice thing about their activism is that it also started internally with Terra Incognita (personal journeys from misery and hate to love and understanding) and then they said after having trash blown in their faces trying to enjoy their little beach in France, it became more serious. Hence "toxic garbage island" and "wolf down the earth". Amazonia is all donation based via views towards maintaining the Amazon. I enjoy that it is more hidden than direct. They don't do goofy hippy public shame statements and whatnot, they address it as adults professionally.
