Hello from New England...I too have watched ALL your Gojira vids and the live version of this song is waaay better...Gojira is a band best experienced live...The drop in this song is killer and once again Mario shows his Jazz chops with some his fills...Thx again for the vids man..And yes they are still together..I saw them back in August and they destroyed...It was my 9th time seeing them live...Peace from the Northeast..
@@Brian-zt9wz indeed, crazy how it’s consistanly the case. The album From Mars to Sirius for instance, even though seen as THE album, it’s probably my least favourite one, but live (at Brixton), i absolutely adore them, so yeah
I think if you wanna stick on this specific sound and live experience longer, you should check out The Axe studio version and live at Brixton Academy version as well. The studio version tends to be overlooked in the sea of masterclass songs but I dare say it’s one of their best live songs it keeps surprising me with how good it is, and then like everyone else here, check out The Way of all Flesh afterwards 🫡
A huge huge fan here, live they are as good as everyone says, saw them with the Fortitude tour, the thing is for 2 months they were almost playing every evening, or let’s say almost 15 shows a month, and it’s taking a toll on Joe voice. The raw and beautiful screams Joe has, it will become much more rare to hear unfortunately as he’s getting older and the amount of shows they play wont help either. I think this was near the end at their prime, i’d say 2002-2015 they absolutely killed it, voice, sound, stage presence. So don’t go to a show hoping to see Gojira with the insane stage presence they’re known for , those days are past, but we’ve got to embrace the more mellow stage presence and song writing they’re going for. Might sound a bit critique-y, which it totally isn’t. Can’t praise them enough for the music they’ve put out. i just thought i’d share where they’re at know in their musical career. And yes, they’re still together after 25 years. Still, if you’re going to see them, preferably indoor, it’s going to be a great experience for sure! The way of all flesh studio + live is another good one, Remembrance studio and live at The Link Alive is another great one, shows how technical and proficient they were very early on.
Check out Gojira Live @Palladium - Koln on YT. The video with the whole set. I have never heard Joe's vocals being more fierce at that time (2016). In the Fortitude BBC1 Radio Session he also sounded really good. I think he still got it but he can't do it day for day like on tour.
I read somewhere that Mario either took Jazz drumming or he was influenced by jazz music in his drumming. I know that Lars is his favorite drummer but I think great drummers influenced Mario besides the great older Metal bands. Another great one by the Mighty Gojira! Nice! 🤘🏼🔥💪🏽❤️( They are still together, recent album is Fortitude.)
Yeah, he was in jazz drum school for 7 or 8 years. He didnt even play metal initially, he started playing more heavy stuff when he formed Gojira with Joe
