You know what’s crazy? In the original manga, Goku didn’t even tell Chi-Chi that he thought a bride was a food. After Krillin explained, he thought about it and was like well I did make a promise and then said “wanna get married?” Goku really didn’t know what he was agreeing to which is really messed up 😂

I think that Goku and Chi-Chi kissed once.. offscreen, during the Android Saga. Can't really blame Toriyama for forgetting about that one😄

I think Goku does understand what love is to a certain extent, but regardless of how you see him as a husband and a father, it cannot be denied how much he loves his family with all of his heart and when he fights it isn’t just to become stronger or just for the sake of fighting, he does it to protect his family and his friends. The best examples of that is when he fought against Beerus as a Super Saiyan God, when he was losing the first thing that came to mind was Chi-Chi, Gohan, and Goten. The next one was when he fought Zamasu in the future and you all saw how angry he became when he found out that Zamasu murdered a variant of Chi-Chi and Goten in cold blood. They weren’t even technically his Chi-Chi and Goten but he still swelled up with anger and retaliated against Zamazu and Goku Black fiercely. 6:33 Also you both getting touched when Goku proposed was priceless ♥️😂

I think Goku understands social love, the love one feels for family and people in their close circle. He doesn't understand or feel romantic love imo. He understands the social contract of marriage in the sense that he can only procreate with the person he is married to and has a responsibility to provide protection and financial aid to his family. Iirc in the sub he only agrees to marry Chi-Chi because he made the promise and always keeps his word so I wouldn't say he romantically loves Chi-Chi but instead loves her in the same way he loves Gohan and his other close friends and family.

That romantic line from Goku only happens in the dub. Also, in Super Goku was talking about the way Trunks gave Mai a senzu bean (mouth to mouth) but the other characters got it confused.

I was going to say the same thing lol when she gets sad thinking he's going to say no, he says"well I did make a promise . . . So, want to get married?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you guys have to watch the Japanese with the English subtitles version at least once. It's so hilarious, and so Goku the way it plays out. P.S after Chi-Chi kisses Goku on the cheek, krillin doesn't ask Goku, "Goku are you crazy, what are you doing?" Lol he's jealous, and wishes it was him. It's been awhile since I've seen this in Japanese though, so I can't remember exactly what Krillin says verbatim, but I remember he was jealous lol

This is the only time Chi-Chi had a chance to beat Goku in a one-on-one fight but if she wanted to Chi chi could kill goku due to him easily being distracted. She technically could still kill Goku by catching him off guard and use kaioken for a fatal strike. Yes Chi chi learned the kaioken technique sometime in dragon Ball Z probably after everyone was killed at the hands of buu then everyone on Earth went to other worlds or Goku taught her kaioken sometime later.

So good to see you guys reacting to my favourite episode of the OG series. It's a shame that Tien missed out on seeing this drama as he was inside reflecting about fighting Tao and turning against the Crane Hermit, same for Chiaotzu as he was unconscious after being defeated by Tao. 3:44 Everyone's reaction was hilarious 😂 4:10 Krillin's description of a bride aged like milk especially when he married Android 18 🙃 5:58 I've always found that flashback in the English Dub to be inconsistent as there was no mention of Goku letting Chichi to be his bride, only if he would remember her again (the mention of being his bride in this scene was only in the Japanese version). Would have made more sense if the flashback was from them meeting again after the 1st martial arts tournament that Goku competed in. 6:30 Piccolo chilling on top of the roof 😆 6:33 For someone who didn't know what a bride was a short while ago, Goku sure does have the smooth moves.

Goku and Chi-Chi’s fight is one of the funniest parts of Dragonball. Goku can be very forgetful but he’s a good natured guy. It was funny seeing Chi-Chi kiss Goku on the cheek with other Dragon Team members reacting to Goku being kissed on the cheek.
