Right on Chris ! I agree, if your gonna have a claim work it! If you’re not going to work it let some of us guys that want to work it in there!! Anyway another great episode bud. I enjoyed the old mine tour. Pretty sweet . I’m gonna be heading out in a May from Missouri to Maine prospecting along the way, then prospecting on the swift river in coos canyon and the high ammonoosuc river in New Hampshire for 10 days, I’m sure I too will be running into those claim owners that never work their claim. Grrr. lol it was great seeing you and Raymond gettin er done! Those are some really good looking test pans for a new area. You for sure have an eye for finding the spot. Thanks for sharing bud. 👍😎🎩⚒️
Great video all around and these are the types of expeditions people need to see. All the time and research that goes into finding good spots is not just luck! That museum was very interesting and I have the SAME problem here with the claims and private property. Very difficult to find new ground. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Some cool history in that museum. I'm with ya on all the land being bought up by people that have too much money. Keep trying to get in touch with those people. You'll find the right one. Heavy pans brother.
Definitely was some way cool stuff. In that museum, I was looking around for a while. As far as the land goes.I think we're just about screwed on that. The rich get richer the poor get poor and the government gets more control. But I'm still having a good time so . Oh well. Lol.
Thanks for showing that museum. I always wanted to stop in but it's never open. The amount of owned/claimed idle property up there is a whole different level of frustration for sure!
I saw Mike on Friday and told him about our weird connection. The first thing he says "No way! When we're you in Mountain Home?" Well, then we got into gold talk for a while. I need to finish up the work on my desk before I can get up to the mountains to start hunting for a good spot for the summer.
Great video guys. Sorry there ain’t much places to prospect. I’m with you, government isn’t helping anyone. Good gold hunting. Gold is where you find it. Take care.
I agree with the fact that everything is private property or claimed. The thing that pisses me off most is... when the government finds a dumb ass reason to shut areas down... protected areas... critical environment... study area... its getting harder and harder to find ground.
I’ve been reviewing claim laws. I’m of opinion that if no one is actively working the claim then their claim has expired and is invalid. Unless claim sign is dated and valid…. Ehhhh… Now private property is different.
I read that as well. The private property ones are one story, but the claim signs are another story. They have proper dates on them but no one's ever there
Awesome old wares Museum Kris , great stuff !!! i would look through that all day . Yeah , i know what you mean about every good spot is already claimed or owned by someone . It's getting harder to find good ground to prospect , and the time is coming when there will be nowhere left for us to go , unless you know someone with a property or claim that will let you on it . I feel your pain sir , but what can you do . Cheers Ned 👍✌
It’s pretty tough for the hobby prospecting/mining guys. The Federal government as usual, overstepped their authority by making public lands basically private. Limits on public land claims are needed. Maybe 10% along our rivers is allowed to be claimed.. that’s is Enough! 90% public I’m thinking.. after all, it’s Public Land and we actually own 100% Federal Land? Stay Free and on it Kris Peace Prospector Tripp
All those claims! Just went prospecting for the first time. All these years hunting in Idaho but it wasn't until I start looking for the shiny that I noticed the claims everywhere! Only found a dozen specs but it's gold! I'm hooked. I have a lot to learn!
F*#k the gold Kris, prospecting & mining has always overrun with greedy, selfish, backstabbing cut throats from the beginning of time, to current time. For the reasons you mentioned and many more you will most likely discover I’ve lost my passion for processing material but am still searching for my notellum creek that can’t be driven to. Know this I enjoy your channel #1 for your attitude , sharing your local rivers and mountains, your work, family and things you have love & pride for. I liked PG Josey’s for similar reasons, his camper build, cutting wood etc. I enjoy honest hard working people short on cash but flush in life gitin shit done ! I lived in Placerville CA and hope to visit Placerville ID someday so thanks for the virtual visit 👍. Pronounced placer gold as differing from vein gold
My last video the shunk showed up , it happens 😮we have been pretty much flooded out of our spots but the river is redepositing gold so it will be interesting to see what happens gold wise ! Take care Chris out for now ⛏️⛏️😎😎✨✨Jeff
Hey Kris I think the law concerning claims is that $500/year improvement need to be accomplished. If you do not see this I would disregard claim notices. Call someone and ask but ….
Always good to get out and explore. Same issue here but not many claims. Mostly, national park and private property with liberal messed up rules. Gated and locked up tough everywhere. Keep on the hunt!
You don't need to say anything about where your at. I have been everywhere and from your pictures, I know exactly where you are. But you are right about these people from out of State that biy claims and do absolutely no mining what so ever. Idaho should only sell claims to people who actually DO MINING and NOT HOLD ON TO THEM and DO NOTHING.
Not sure how far you travel around Idaho, but I have some good spots. Have to be careful about saying where too many just take advantage of it. Maybe we can get together in the future
Forbidden because nature conservation, forbidden because private, forbidden because leased. Hi Kris, I know that from here. Do your thing. They can't put all of us in prison !
G'Day Kris, Thanks for taking us along for the adventure buddy 👍 Hey Kris any chance you could send me one of your stickers? I think they're cool 👍👍 Cheers Kev
We have claims because we have the right to. And yes we are thousands of miles away. No, we are not rich. Imagine if we came out to Idaho and had to contimually prospect around to find a decent deposit and never did. Sure, it would still be fun but just not as much and all of our vacation time would be ate up trying to find a spot decent enough to work. Id say that you should look into getting a claim but i guess you dont want to be a loser like us. Anyway, whatevs, good video.
Technically if you don't work your claim and you don't do at least five hundred dollars worth of improvements on it every year in your claim is invaled I've driven past all these claims.Almost every weekend for the last 5 or 6 years and never have.I seen anybody working any of them? Not even once ever
@buffalokrisgoldprospecting we do, during dredging season and have one of the Folks in our group who go to Pocatello often for work and visits the claims. Our validity is good. True though, some claims are owned and never see a soul. As far as camping though, I do believe folks are legally allowed to camp on our claims.
I really don't need to. I've got a few really good spots on unclaimable ground and all the claims that I found for sale are absolutely terrible and the gold sucks
Are you hearing yourself, dude? You're upset bc people are purchasing claims and "not using them." But you DON'T KNOW if they are. I'd like to see you purchase a claim and then put a sign up that it's open to everyone. Seriously? 🙄
I can understand where you're coming from. But if you was in my shoes I literally drive by all these places all the time for years now. I'm talking multiple multiple multiple years. And I have never once seen anybody on any of these claims. Doing anything and none of the ground is disturbed and nobody's ever worked most any of them. A couple of a maybe, but I would say 90% of them have been sitting idle for years.
