WARNING do not attempt to copy anything in the video the acids used are very dangerous and may harm or even kill you, in this video I use nitric acid to recover the gold from gold plated pins and connectors
I still remember the first time I shouted you out! Been watching for a while now. Your getting your 400 more hours. Watch you on all our devices tonight when everyone is asleep! Like having 4 people binge watch all night!!!
I saw a video once of a facility in Japan that was doing gold recovery on an industrial scale, the amount of gold they were recovering was amazing. Massive amounts of electronics as raw material though.
Hi Irish! This video is a good demonstration of dissolving pins in nitric acid.... but it's not practicable any more. Probably this was the easiest way to go for any beginner about 15 years ago but not now. Going this way value of acid will be more than price of gold you recover. Besides most of the pins contain lead. One way or other. Either as a solder or in the alloy itself. As an end result this produces metastannic acid, something extremely difficult to filter. Most of us using either reserve electroplating or selective leaching
I'm brand new to scrapping, correct me if I'm wrong but it's €33 a litre of Nitric Acid - surely if you have a lot of components to yield gold from it is worth it?
I've been watching these videos for a while now and I'm very interested In trying this process, the trouble I'm having is I can't seem to find anywhere selling the chemicals necessary for the recovery process, could you recommend a good source or supplier in Ireland??
@@ScrappingIrish I've tried contacting a couple of companies and I'm struggling to find a company who can supply the acids without needing a VAT number off me
On average pins are not the great the chips on the boards are better, 1lb of pins depending on the plating give about 0.2 to 0.5 of a gram of gold while you can get 1 gram from a 1lb of ram chips
you can use nail clippers to remove those small pins.... does not work everytime as the plastic can become weak over time and snap too easily... great video, glad someone is talking for once..... '' }
What are your ratios for proper recovery? A lot youtubers are not really putting a ratio on what to add. With streetips he has a aqua regia ratio that is 10:1 (hci: nitric) but he didnt say how much gold is going to be needed to get a good solution
You are a lot of youtubers don't give ratios including me, it all depends on the type of materials, but going forward I will try and remember to put ratios, at the moment wheen I do aqua regia I just cover the materials with hcl and just add 1ml of nitric every hour until all materials are dissolve that way I don't have to nuterlise as much nitric at the end which was a pain, thanks for watching and commenting
cool vid buddy tho jour jars are too tight for that i find out just small glass bowl does well cause all condensation drop back and there is still some air access what is necessary for the reaction wow quarter of liter of nitric what the point of filtering at this stage ? just add HCl disolve gold and then filter and participate and job done tho it is your way so I'm gonna look it through 😀👍😀 for that type of plugs you need ic chip crusher lol that does the job
Boss what is the better systems uses of smb.Dry smb or mixed water smb plese tell me .if mixed water with smb ,so that how much per gm gold for per gm smb .
Boss when i use per gm smb for per gm gold , i have no result .but use more smb then result slowly.Boss what is the problem plese tell me? my assermant summary 1.gold foil may be 4 to 5 gram. 2.aqua regia solution 200ml(50ml HNO3 and 150ml HCL) 3.Filter the solution 4.use urea when there is no more reaction with the urea. (use more urea i filter the solution agin ) 5.total distilled water use 100ml 6.smb use at fast 2gm with warm distilled water 30ml, after that 3gm smb with warm distilled water50ml, my solution is dark but gold dust no settle down. 2 to 3 hours after i heat the solution. my solution is clean.i cool the solution and i use 7gm smb step by step with warm distilled water .my solution is orange color.i keep the solution 24 hours .gold dust settle down slowlly.Boss plese help me.
What acid are you using the one I use is the 3m one but there is no mask that will give you full protection always use a fume hood or do your acid work outside
Double, double toil and trouble; Acid burn and caldron bubble. For a charm of powerful gold Sorry every time I see something bubbling away ...MacBeth come to mind! 😁😁😁
Boss at fast only nitric acid and distril water uses 14 mobil phone. i get about 0.035 grams gold foil.i uses aqua regia solutin (50ml HNO3 +150ml HCL). nitrolize of nitirc acid by urea when there is no more reaction .i see that urea uses more over but i filter the solution and remove of urea.when i uses smb 0.5 grems but color is no change , so that uses more and more smb maybe 4 grams .at present solution color is light red .Boss i don"t get result. Boss plese help me what is my problems? i fill tension.
I use urea to nuterlise nitric acid and smb to drop gold, only use same amount of smb weight as amount of gold you expect to get, if you think you have 3 grams of gold only use 3 or 4 gram of smb
@@ScrappingIrish I know but I would think that the gold has residual nitric in or on it and idk be enough left in it to make aqua regia when u put some hcl on it?
You keep saying something about putting on your mask to avoid the fumes. Please understand that respirator filters/cartridges that deal with nitrogen dioxide gas DO NOT EXSIST!!
@@ScrappingIrish Yes sir that's what I'm sayin. The dissolution of base metals in the nitric acid forms HIGHLY TOXIC & EXTREMELY CORROSIVE Nitrogen Dioxide gas. As far as I know there's no such thing as a respirator cartridge that filters nitrogen dioxide. I could be wrong, however I learned everything I know from either the gold refining forum, or videos made by Sreetips. They seem to be about the best sources of CORRECT info on the recovery and refining of precious metals. Please understand I'm not trying to belittle you in any way. Myself as well as many many others very much enjoy your videos, and as this is such a dangerous process... Safety 1st! No matter how I learn it. Others passed the knowledge to me. Its now my obligation to do the same. Any day I'm able to enjoy my hobby in just a little bit safer of a way is a good day! Gr8 job makin your videos! Keep em comin!
Thanks for the great information yes safety first I will do more research into the filters as I got the highest grade filters I could find, thanks for watching I really appreciate it
