I demonstrate a small shaking sluice table useful for extracting ultra-fine gold from heavy, fine black sand. The tailings are analyzed.

Nice work. If it catches gold, it’s a winner.

nice and simple shake box - great cleanup tool, though i'm not much in love with the idea of using a snuffer bottle to pull the fines out , but if thats the worst part of the cleanup i could prob. deal with it ...

Yes, I found it a bit onerous at first. Not ideal, but I consider it much easier and faster than cleaning out the mats on a sluice box and it should work in a continuous process. Anyway, I'm still playing with the idea. -- Dave

You have a shaker miller table that gets your classified material down to just black sand and gold with a little bit of blonds. A miller table gets rid of the black sands and blonds, and you get clean gold but is slow. You have accomplished what one can do panning. The shaker part is good, but one needs to zero down to separated gold from the blacks and blonds. The golden boys are getting close to doing that . They do not how ever show their shaker part of their art . It is fun though experimenting

I have a mat that is much better at the final separation. The mat shown in this video will be used for the initial separation and then the second mat is used to further refine the flour gold. I'll be showing the complete process in an upcoming video. Thanks for the comment! -- Dave

@@orophilia i imagine a 'mini-'shaker' style of groove system would fit the bil for the better seperation desired and output without need of snuffering at the end ...

Have you tried running this machine dry? I was designing a drywasher box a few years ago with a chevron riffle bed.

I still think the vortex riffles with a preescreening is the way to go. The shaker works great as a sifter I bet, and the output could go over the different sized vortexes with individual slopes and flows.
@orophilia
@orophilia Год назад
I love to experiment, so I may try making a version of a vortex mat. I have other mats that work well for the final separation step, leaving much less unwanted material. Thx! -- Dave
@1kreature
@1kreature Год назад
@@orophilia You should try once adding so much material that the top vortexes fill completely with gold. I find that my mats don't let the gold past first set of vortexes until they are full. The black sand is exchanged for gold continuously. In my classifying sluice I find gold a few rows down probably because it sometimes takes a bit to settle through the material flowing across the screen. With very fine gold I expect you need to use quite small vortexes otherwise you would have room for too much material in the pockets as you say. That wouldn't work well as a cleanup system. Out in the field however it is amazing how long one can run without cleaning up when the mats exchange so well. It is more a matter of nerves than actual capacity. One can't resist the urge to have a look.
@orophilia
@orophilia Год назад
@@1kreature Howdy! Yes, I agree. I'm finding that the entire table can be filled with fine, heavy black sand and as long as the sand is liquefied the fine gold will drop to the bottom of the first or second groove. It's quite surprising. I'll have a new video soon with an interesting new mat. -- Dave
@MohammedNovalija
@MohammedNovalija Год назад
Is there a reason as to why you feed your material into the centre of your mat rather than spreading it all along and thereby utilizing the whole chevron ?
@orophilia
@orophilia Год назад
I don't want the material near the edge because with this mat it can fall off the edge and end up in the tailings tub. (It's not quite wide enough.) Next version will eliminate this. -- Dave
@MohammedNovalija
@MohammedNovalija Год назад
@@orophilia I see. I also have an issue with material getting down the edge and getting UNDER the mat. Perhaps gluing a 8mm wide thickness strip of neoprene along each edge will prevent it.
@orophilia
@orophilia Год назад
@@MohammedNovalija Yes, that's a good idea. I'll try it on this mat. -- Dave
