Thes craziest thing to me is that the show doesn’t even need an appearance by the bat at this point, it’s strong enough on its own. By far the best comic book show since punisher/daredevil
It is but it doesn’t make sense and it’s my only negative of this show. Your telling me the Falcones were all wiped out and he wouldn’t pull up on Sofia and interrogate her? No bat shined in the sky? No criminals even mentioning him? It feels like a different universe without Batman
@@shmoofpapi The Batman Part 2 definitely has a bit of heavy lifting in it's opening act to explain where Batman is holed up. Sure, there's the fact that he took a hell of a beating and literally had to inject himself with adrenaline just to keep going. He could be out of commission for a while. That would explain his absence the first half of the season at the very least. Also, large parts of the show have been happening during the day - so we could see him investigating during night time. But even then, wouldn't you expect Oz to warrant a re-visit? Or at least Sofia, being the last remaining Falcone and starting a new family under a different name? I'm sure Matt Reeves got it covered, but I'm certainly left with some questions...
11:30 Oz was listening. Later in the episode he asked Vic about the situation. His reaction in the moment seemed to express that the issue was so minor that it wasn't worth discussing unless it was "a problem"
thank you for pointing it out for em lmao. he absolutely heard it and Rosh was right. Compared to his deathly ill mother, its not something he cares to respond too. He actually took the time after what he was saying to ask Vic if the situation was a problem.
I know someone put in the comments, that Oz might kill his mom if Sophia tries to use her. I think so too, plus think about his mom's mindset also, she believes in her son and she would never want to be used against him or be his weakness, she backs him in everything, and she already made him promise, she would want him to do it anyway. Sophia doesn't know she dying.
Haven't heard anyone else say this, but when Oz said "it gets easier" I got the feeling the way he said it was sad and regretful, like he was really telling himself.
So much of his talks with him always feels projective, like when he yelled at him for messing up and forcing him to lie in the grave, like that was like he was also yelling at himself
@ Oz does see in Victor himself as a younger man. Both from Crown Heights. Vic lost his family; Oz lost his brothers. Both with a disability that marks them as outsiders. Both turning to crime for the means and respect they lacked. Just as his mother pushed him to be bigger than himself, he’s pushing Vic in what passes for love in Oz’s mind.
I really like the contrast between Oz and Sofia in their goals as kingpins and how their philosophies are molded by their experiences. Oz was a broke cripple who lost his family young and was desperately vying for the love and attention of his mother (who fed his darker ambitions). Sofia was a privileged heir to a significant crime family but then it all came down in one day and she was betrayed by almost her entire family and then systematically tortured for 10 whole years. Oz is a shifty liar and swindler but at his core is someone who wants to take care of others and provide for ‘his’ people, which he views as the ultimate form of power and respect. Sofia on the other hand has been changed from her time in Arkham to a complete unrepentant revenant, clawing back the control so fiercely taken from her but also losing her previous kindness and love. I’m still undecided on who to root for and that’s truly the beauty of the show.
Man, I couldn't quite put my finger on exactly where the dichotomy Between the two main faction heads was illustrated, I just knew was there. You laid that out perfectly, and 100% agree. This show has my allegiances on a freaking metrinome, lol
This is not true at all lol, she very was given a choice that parallels Oz's first scene with Al, and she chooses not to kill. I'm not saying Oz doesn't care for anyone, he obviously does, but I think he's ultimately far more selfish and prideful.
@schmuck.on.wheels exactly...Sofia still has humanity as evidenced when it came to letting Oz's gf live. She could see that she was another woman who had been lied to/mislead by OZ and took mercy on her because she proved she's a loyal person...something sofia has desperately been void of in her life.
Bruh I feel like Sofia will try to use oz’s mom against him, and he’ll pull a walder Frey and just kill his mom him self. Her asking him to kill her before she gets too bad seemed a little like foreshadowing.
Something I noticed. In the scene where Vic kills Squid, Vic starts off with a bit of a stutter, but after Squid mentions Oz and his mom (when Vic probably made the decision to shoot him), Vic never stutters again throughout the scene. Even when he's breaking down after killing Squid, he only repeats "I'm sorry," which isn't a stutter.
Nah your editor is wiilld bro 😂😂😂, the random "they don't even know your fuckin naaaaames" soundbites he was sprinkling throughout the reaction was taking me tf out
Deirdre O'Connell as Francis Cobb deserves a goddamn Emmy for this episode alone. Her scene in the bathroom with Oz made me cry so hard I needed to pause the episode and take a minute. My mom was diagnosed with stage 3A breast cancer when I was 14. We had no other family members to look out for us, it was just me and my mom lifting each other up when we needed to lean on someone for strength. She fought it for 10 years. She passed away 9 years ago from cancer complications, peacefully in her sleep. Towards the end of her life she was suffering in a very similar way to Francis, becoming so weak from the treatment and from old age that she needed help to get up if she fell down. But we were always there for each other. So I know exactly how Oz felt when his mom said she didn’t want to suffer anymore.
Sofia and Oz are so damn charismatic. Great to see back to back speeches from them both. Oz, especially getting these guys to agree to work together when all he does is betray people is wild! Even the drug theyre going to sell is gained by betrayal, yet they're gonna work with him! "They dont even know your fcking naaaaame"
Lowkey this show really says “you’re suspecting the wrong people” a lot. Once Sofia spoke about being underestimated for being a woman I knew every male side character was out for the count and immediately my mind was on Alibi chick
I have absolutely no problems with Eve selling out Penguin. Her girls are her family, including the ones Carmine murdered. The fact that Oz knew and kept working for Carmine is a true betrayal for Eve. So this is just karma.
He also used her as an alibi and flaunted her right in Sofia's face, knowing Eve still thought she was the Hangman and most likely knowing Sofia would go after her if she ever found out he killed Alberto. Oz is a piece of shit lol I don't blame Eve one bit
@@redandpurple317yh but at the end of the day she even said she knows what and who he is and that he’ll protect himself at any cost yet she still stayed because they took care of each other and even though u can’t blame her for giving oz up in the moment she is not innocent I mean how many murders do you think she was probaly his alibi for she knew what she was into but still can’t blame her but she might get killed for that decision though
@@SamaelTargaryen-v1n yeah she absolutely served as an alibi for other stuff and knows all about what Oz is and does, but I believe that this time, with Sofia in particular, it was way more personal to Eve, since she thought Sofia had killed her friends and serving as Oz's alibi put her in more direct and frightening danger from her point of view. So I believe learning that Oz knew the truth the whole time and kept sleeping with her and putting her in danger anyway was the last straw for her. I agree though that it might end up biting her in the ass later on
@ yh but when oz killed Alberto and wanted eve as his alibi he did not know sofia was out he thought he would just have to lie to the family but after finding out sofia was out it was already too late as she already was the alibi but he definitely should not have dangled eve in front of sofia in the club because that is where sofia recognized her from he messed up there
A lot of ppl think Oz is totally cold blooded just because he lies a lot(and kills}. But he has alot of heart and care. He definitely cares about Eve because he wanted to her to come with them last episode, other wise he wouldnt have been so upset about her not coming along
I'm hearing from reviewers who've seen episodes 7 and 8 that they're beyond shocking and insane that the show basically becomes something entirely different towards its end. Cannot wait any harder for next week!!!
Surprisingly no, while some say go with the delusion in order to not try and spend time breaking the delusion, the problem is when the person becomes lucid, then they may distrust you for saying as example, "Yes, it is 1980s and yes your son is still alive." So when they become lucid they will know you as a liar and not trustworthy.
I honestly didn’t think it was possible to make the simple act of opening a beer seem like a truly momentous occasion, but holy shit did it work! Oz was so perfect during the Gold Summit that I almost wanted him to run for mayor. For the first time in his business dealings in this show, he was 100% honest with everyone, but what really hooked them is was the fact that if all of these dirty politicians and city officials who hate each other’s guts can work together and control all of Gotham, then why can’t they.
Oh man, Oz wasn't just sleeping with Eve all those years while hiding the murder of her friends-he was paying her and her girls with money he earned from Carmine. From running the Iceberg and the 44, the clubs that Carmine had used to hunt for these women. Now maybe Carmine stopped killing girls after Sofia went to Arkham, we have no proof he didn't. But let's be real. He probably kept on going, and just didn't do the "fake hanging" thing anymore. Serial killers like that don't stop until they are caught. Oz would have been the one to hire these new waitresses and hookers, the one to replace them when they stopped coming in to work. Maybe even a few of them got introduced to him through Eve. And he kept acting like he had Eve and her girls' backs, being generous with the cash he earned by covering up his boss's murder of their friends and family. Forget selling him out-Eve deserved to shoot Oz herself.
If Sofia doesn’t take anyone out next episode, I bet she’ll make Oz choose between Vic and his mom. I can totally see him picking Vic just because of her request this episode.
Oz with the councilman might be the most upsetting torture scene I've ever seen because just tweezing a hair from my septum makes me feel like I'm going to pass out
I think Oz will have to shoot his mom in the future 😭. Also can u guys react to Love Death and Robots next it's a high budget animated series from Netflix that's on the 3rd season now ❤️. It's various amounts of animation
I have a strange theory what if Victor becomes Victor zazz the serial killer (batman villian) cause I don't know for sure but didn't he work for penguin 🤔 idk the lore behind that character but that would be crasy
no victor zsasz never worked for penguin, he was born from a wealthy family and the killing sprees he went on he did by himself. He also got put in arkham asylum. Victor being zsasz would be so bad i doubt they'll go that way, plus we already got his last name, Aguilar
@@SuryaGupta-te7fq well Oz isn't cobblepot in this show, so the last name isn't really that important but it would be interesting if they go that route
It's possible. I just looked it up, Zsasz was rich but after his parents died he went into a depressed and gambled all his money away. One of the places he lost all his money was the iceberg lounge to the penguin. I could see them reworking the origin. Like riddler, Bane, etc. It possible could be Zsasz
I’m not sure, but at the end, I read Sofia’s expression as shock, like she couldn’t actually go through with beating an old woman crippled woman to death. She’s shown sympathy before, and I think she will again, or maybe she’ll put Oz in a position where he has to choose between them. But honestly, I don’t see that happening. I think Sofia is the secret hero of the show, and I think she’ll show compassion in the end towards Oz's mom. Meanwhile, Penguin will not do the same for Sofia, which might make us hate him for good.
Oz’s biggest issue is that he consistently snakes everyone for his own come ups. So far it looks like the only person he’s been real w is Vic, but i wonder how much longer that’ll last before vic gotta deal with his fakenes
While all this craziness is happening I'm wondering what Batman is doing/ thinking during all this. He doesn't have to be in this series, like he probably isn't going to pop up for a quick appearance, but would be cool to hear some stuff in the background of characters being like, "yeah the Cops/ Maronis/ Gigante/ rival gang, didn't bust our operation last night, it was that caped vigilante," or something like that. Have Oz say something in response or acknowledge that he could have another reunion with Batman.
If anything happens to oz mom I can't help but be scared for vic because oz is going to blame him for whatever happens to moms just like how oz was weak to protect his brothers he'll blame vic for being to weak.
The scene work in this show is next level. Seriously thought I was about to shit myself during the scene between Sofia and Eve. Just incredible work all around from every member of the cast. Career defining performances for everyone in this show besides maybe Clancy and Shoreh.
She not killing his mom, think again...she's smarter than that. She probably gonna take his mom, kidnap her and leave Victor behind so he can take the blame for not taking care of that poor woman. With his mom, she will try to control the Penguin and manipulate him to betray the gangs he made the deal now that he got their trust and kill them leaving the city free for her (and Salvatore that she'll deal with later). NOW THAT would be a smart play and Sofia is very smart. But of course, as we know, things not always go according to plan because Oz is smart also. Let's see.
