I remember playing Golden Axe 1 and seeing Tyris's level 6 spell when I was younger. That dragon was so cool and I always thought it was her pet.

Tyris Flare was always my favorite. I miss those days.

The magic spells, enemies screaming in agony & ability to ride dragons is what made this game a constant coin dropper at the pizza parlor or arcade.

Some death screams were cuts from the film First Blood. Some others were from Conan the Barbarian. Timeless.

I love the creativity of enemies and mounts and magic attacks in this series ❤

Very nice, best one I've seen. There is an older video with all the magic attacks, but it doesn't show the Golden Axe 3 individual attacks as well (sometimes it shows the screen just going dark, but no animation).

Tyrus flares magic is definitely the best of the lost especially the dragon attack in the first 2 games

Soooo, Axl went from being earth element on GA1 to wind element on GA2, and Gilius THUNDERhead from being THUNDER element on GA1 to earth element on GA2!?? Who was the GENIUS behind that!?? Btw, Golden Axe 2 had the worst animations except for some for Tyris

I might regret saying this.. hot take, i love the ps2 version of golden axe, i think the battles are fast and smooth, the spinning slash that you can use is helpful for crowds and... the magic looks amazing. (Especially Tyris) Yes, i can see the flaws, such as no bonus levels or the bosses being unfair (and that the game pads..) But overall, i see it as a great game that gave us a good childhood (although, i wished they added more characters to the game)

Still dont understand why they changed his lightening to rocks? And you can tell how limited they were porting it over from arcade to Mega Drive for GA1. But the fire magic in 2 was so awesome could only imagine that in the arcade version. But it's ironic isn't that the 2nd to a few games looked better Streets of Rage 2 GA2 compared to 3 in graphics

Hated the Golden axe series I never understood the compulsion of side scrolling beat em ups perhaps it was just young guys trying to come across as hard back in the day. Anyway I do love to see these videos of all the magic attacks and see how they evolved over the years as the systems had more horse power to produce better effects.
