still my favorite golden axe game, also one of the few games you get to play as a centaur which I would love for people to bring back in modern fantasy games. very impressive run, you do not mess with centaurs.

This was my character back in the day. They had the 4 player big screen version of this at putt-putt golf and games. My friends and i beat this so many times in a row that the manager actually came up and told us to go play something else or leave. So we left. What is funny is that no one else wanted to play Dora. So i never had to rush to pick her before someone else. That was good to me since i liked playing her.
@@scunts well other people were complaining and the guy was just doing his job. I wasnt mad about it. We thought it was funny that we got kicked out for being too good at a game. And we werent just putting tokens in until we died our way through. We were beating it legit on 2 or 3 tokens each. We had tokens left when we were told to leave so we were giving our tokens away to people playing other games. Sometimes we would just set a stack of tokens down beside someone. Or sometimes we would come up like we were going to join in. But after putting tokens in we would just walk away. There were 4 of us in the group so we split up and made them gather us all up before they could make us leave.
It's still never explained how Dora reverts to human form as soon as she rides a Bizzarian. The sprite artists just didn't wanna draw a horse on top of another beast of burden...though they did a great job otherwise drawing the sprites!

My absolute favorite version of Golden Axe. Playing as the centaur when i was in the zone made me feel like a force of nature!!! It is a shame their has not been a console version of the arcade port to consoles yet.
The centaur character is a riot. That said I can understand why people chose to not play as her - her freakin' weapon has padding on it, when it should have sharp blades or similar. 😂😂😂
I always thought they were some sort of metal maceheads. Absolutely brutal and terrifying when you consider it's being wielded by a musclewoman with a horse's torso.
What an amazing game, this was the best version ever made of golden axe. Coincidentally I streamed it today on my channel. So much fun, retro forever in our hearts my friend, let’s keep them alive. Thanks for sharing this precious footage
I love this game, it is fun and really shows off the power of the 32-bit hardware. It is too bad the music in this game is generic and not lie the first two Golden Axe games, which had amazing soundtracks.
How did you get this game to run? I have tried three different emulators and a MULTITUDE of cores. I have never been successful with getting this game to work.
is there a no mount 1cc run of this game? every 1cc of this game i've seen they stick with the bone dragon for half of the game, this is boring 19:50, i want to know the no mount strategies for the later bosses.
Why Sega couldn't adapt this game to any of it's consoles? The Sega CD with his scaling capabilities, sound and format capacity could have got a decent conversion and the Saturn users would have welcomed a pixel perfect game.
Very disappointing no Ports at all such an old game 92 I was 5 years old I was playing SF2 in arcades I don’t even recall ever seeing this in action. Altered beast yes out run after burner and the original golden axe I didn’t even know there was anything else until the fighting game on Saturn
90s Beat em Ups arcade games had one simple rule. There were three characters to choose from. One was balanced, one was fast but weak, one was strong but slow. If there was more than three, then they would be unusual in some way. Like a beastman, a robot, etc. Dora would be the unusual one in this game.
dev: "so we have designed few main characters, a giant, a sexy female warr.." Boss: "no no, dont make her sexy, make her look like David Bowie with long hair with robin hood outfit" dev: "sir...what" Boss: "uh oh lets make it worse! she has horse legs" dev: ".........."
Sadly, the SFX are to soft and the music is also very silent. The game lacks on agressive atmosphere. A real beat 'em up should be bloody and violent in every single way. Golden Axe is good but just look at Alien vs Predator, it's the perfect example of a great beat 'em up with a dark atmosphere!
Don't mistake genre for theme. A beat'em-up can have many different themes and be excellent. River City Girls or Castle Crashers are goofy as hell and still great beat'em-up.
@@MrTrellheim yes, I know, there exist also beat 'em ups like The Simpsons and Turtles etc. but if there is some gory brutality it just fits better to this type of games atmosphere imo.
