Best driving song EVER (and there have been some great ones over the years). These guys only had like two other hits (Twilight Zone and one other?) and nothing else even comes close. This is one of the 20 greatest rock songs in history.
The band is from The Netherlands. No, Bisscute just the one singer (Barry Hay) with accompanied harmonies. What you listened to was the single edit version. Yes, this came out in 1974 so the look was similar to Led Zepplin. "Twilight Zone" was their other big hit in 1982/3. Good reaction.
So many great songs by them, she flys on strange wings, just like Vince Taylor, vanilla queen, Candy's going bad, to the hilt, fighting windmills, mad love's coming etc...
The number one song for receiving speeding tickets. I even used it as an excuse one time: "But officer, I was listening to Radar Love!" He chuckled and said he understood... but still issued the ticket. Damn you Golden Earring!
Whenever I hear this song I remember years ago cruising down a lonely Georgia expressway at 4 AM, heading for Michigan and this song comes on the radio, gave me the shot of energy I needed without the caffeine 😉
Golden Earing is a band from The Netherlands. They are from the same era as Led Zeppelin, they had their first Dutch hit in 1967 and have been going strong ever since for more than 50 years with no change in the line-up as far as I know. They are a straight power rock group. They've had many great songs and hits, too many to mention here, that you can cover but to non fans the three biggest songs that were world wide hits (so including The US) are the one that you just listened to, "Back Home" and "Twilight Zone." During this time small country that Holland is they produced a lot of great bands with international success and many were notably from the city The Hague. But Golden Earing has been BY FAR the most commercially successful and most acclaimed band coming out of The Netherlands. Ironically they never had a hit parade number 1 hit in The US, the only Dutch band to ever accomplish that was Shocking Blue with the song "Venus." Shocking Blue was also formed in the city The Hague. Radar Love is by now an iconic classic rock tune.
Dutch rock music over the past 50+ years is SO underrated ! Golden Earring are just one of so many great Dutch bands and artists ( many of which people don't even realise come from Holland - mainly , I think , because they sing in English ) . Bands like Shocking Blue , Focus , Kayak , The Gathering ( Anneke van Geirsbergen ) , After Forever ( Floor Jansen ) , Within Temptation , Stream of Passion , Epica and Ayreon to name but a few
Right on! I don't know really much of anything about them, except that this song was a pretty big 70s era song, and then they had a song "Twilight Zone" in the 80s that was also a hit, and is used quite a bit in Movies and TV. Good song!
I always think of my best friend when I hear this song. We used to jam out to this song when we were 15 (22 years ago) He died to cancer in 2015. Such a good tune tho
The golden earring is the oldest band of the Netherlands. They started in 1961 as the golden earrings. They are one of the greatest rockbands of the Netherlands. The bandmembers are Barry Hays Vocals Guitar and Flute George Kooymans Vocals and guitar Rinus Gerritsen bass and Ceasar Zuiderwijk Drums. There where in the beginning other members See WIKIPEDIA
My favorite description of this song is that "it's the best song in rock and roll history, while it's playing". :D Especially because it's kind of true.
Rinus Gerritsen (bass) was asked by Jimi Hendrix to play in his band but Rinus was loyal to the Earring and didn’t want to leave his city Den Hague. I’ve had a crush for 50 yrs now…
Fun fact: When Brenda Lee first heard this song, she almost swerved off the road when she heard her name and song mentioned. No so fun fact: The band only recently stopped playing because the guitarist and second vocalist, George Kooymans, was diagnosed with ALS also known as motor neuron disease . He does not have long to live which is very sad. He was a great musician.
They started in 1961. Dutch band with far more hits then the people think here in the comments 🙂. They stoped in 2021 and was the longest lasting group of the world.
Not the longest lasting group in the world at all. There are a few groups that have lasted longer than Golden Earing. The standouts are The Blind Boys Of Alabama formed in 1939, last played in 2023.
Haha, "I was not expecting that voice from this person" 😁, that's what's awesome about music, the surprises sometimes. Rock bands like this were helping hold the line against disco during the 70s, along with Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Zepplin, & others.
Great tunes, they have a bunch. If you have not seen them live at Rock Palast in 1982 try it out, the version of Vanilla Queen they do there is one of the best live performances I've ever seen. Enjoy!
In 1974 I was a student of Radio/Television Production at Yakima Valley College when Golden Earring staged a concert in the college's sports arena. The students of the college's Radio/TV Production Program were called to help out the band's roadies set up the stage and sound equipment, act as security during the concert and help the roadies pack every thing back up for the trip to the next event. My station as security was at the door to the band's dressing room. I got to see the guys in the band but I did not speak dutch and they were busy making a "Home" Movie?? of their concert tour and I was busy making sure they were not bothered.
🎉 Bisscute there is absolutely zero problems with your pronunciation or your English in general. OK? Your accent is very attractive. Tight clothes on men is definitely a 70’s thing. The drums and bass really shine in this song. This really is a blues/rock song. Yes, the vocalist was layered.
This is my favorite song of all time! My go to Karaoke song, if I were a super hero this would be my theme song. I am thrilled you like the song. Twighlight Zone was there only other hit in the US but they are and amazing band.
Golden Earring is one of the best exports from Holland since Tulips and Edam Cheese. Singer Barry Hay has been with GE since the late 1960's. This recording is from the 70's, so yes, contemporary with Led Zeppelin. This song also caused more than a few speeding tickets in it's day. Still have my copy of the album "Moontan". Check out "Twilight Zone", another goodie from Earring.
Glad you like it. It's a classic. I was a child in the early 70s but remember it so well. Very catchy. If I remember rightly it was about 73/74 when it came out
A huge hit for them, the studio original is a 70s classic but it is absolutely a beast live, they really stretch out, jam and are so powerful live. Try Radar Love, Vanilla Queen and Twilight Zone live from 1982 at Rock Palast, A totally amazing show that would blow your mind! Yes, A bit of Zeppelin but their own hard rock, prog rock stew, those guys are master musicians who were around for 60+ years before retiring not that long ago. Their live stuff in 2006 at Ahoy is also killer, those old dudes blew the roof off that arena. I saw them in 1975, they did the entire Moontan album and was a utterly great show! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎷🎻🎶
The vocalist (Barry Hay) has been born in India, his father was Scottish so he has a British background. Moved as a kid to The Netherlands. Joined The Golden Earring in 68, which started as a beat band in 62, but transformed into a (hard)rock band after Hay joined. Other great tracks are When The Lady Smiles, Twilight Zone, She Flies On Strange Wings, Back Home, Bombay, Going To The Run.
"RADAR" is a military acronym from WWII. It stands for RAdio Direction And Ranging, used for locating targets at a distance. These days police use RADAR to measure speed of passing vehicles. That's what this song is about: speeding while trying to avoid the 'love' of RADAR equipped police.
Okay you've reached your cuteness overload in your reaction to this one... But cute is in your name. Great song you never hear anymore... as good as anything that's ever been or will ever be 💜
It's a great song and a better reaction Miss Bisscute, I love seeing you dance in your chair to the beat and rhythm of the music. Please more reactions to music from the 60's 70's like Shocking Blue. and his songs Venus and never marry a railroadman.
It is SOOOO much fun to see your reaction to this song that's got to be twice as old as you are. Golden Earring gave the world Radar Love in 1973, and those of us who were in our 20s then loved it as much as you appear to. I made a cassette mix tape with nothing but this song looping on itself endlessly. That was my road song for long drives from the Midlands to the Southwest of England to see my brother. Great times. Even better song.
'They're Coming to Take Me Away' by Napoleon XIV. Back in the late 60s, parents would call the radio stations and ask them not to play this song because they were afraid that it would harm their children. No joke.
Great song. Driving while listening to this song is dangerous. Midway through the song, you look at the speedometer and realize that you are seriously exceeding the speed limit. Please checkout Golden Earring's other hit, "Twilight Zone."
You should also check out White Lion’s version of this song. It’s really great. Both bands are from Denmark and White Lion did it as a tribute to their predecessor and they really admired Golden Earring.
You totally read my mind, I was just gonna comment about white lion’s Awesome version of this song! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KFMyJxluMYQ.htmlsi=kdJnGXK2jpJBcXwZ
Hi Miss Bisscute ( Madalina )😎👋 Golden Earring Had some Decent Hits as the one your reacting to but here is one more suggestion for you called ( Twilight zone ) As always the like button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🤗🎶🎵🎻🎹🎙️🎸
This is the radio version of the song. They have another version on the album that's about 6:30 in length. Same with Thilight Zone - the LP version is more than 7 minutes long. Both fantastic.
Turn this song up while driving..just ensure that you don't start driving too fast! Twilight Zone is another fantastic song of theirs that you should give a listen! Thanks for this reaction!
"Turn this song up while driving..just ensure that you don't start driving too fast! " Just make sure you are on an unlimited stretch of the German Autobahn.
Stop it!!! Your melting me froline that not fair how can a person say rhythms like you do thats not fair ethe perrty awesome how wouldnt want to get to know you every body loves your reaction your eyes are so buitiful 😊❤
Never saw this video or i just dont remember it but i have listened to this song many times. We never heard one band in another band. They were all their own spetacular group or groups. I think weve all said " raydar" love. Lol. Always great reactions.
I love the album Moontan, which opens with this song. My favourite song by Golden Earring is Vanilla Queen, the closing song on side A of the vinyl record, at least in the States, which featured five songs. I think Moontan was released in Europe with a sixth song. I have a few vinyl records by this group and also some CDs. They were pretty big in the US back in the 70s.
Golden Earring were a very long enduring dutch band since the mid 60's well into the 2000's.... great band with some real excellent albums. You're a honey btw....
First of all little lady your accent makes the show you crack me up with your little chair dances in the way you pronounce things makes me laugh I'm sorry you are a natural comedian😅😅😅
Their accoustic show in Tilburg in 1994 for their "Naked Truth" tour ranks among the nest I've been to. How four guys got so much power from 3-4 accoustic instruments seemed beyond comprehension. Thanks to my host Michael Boukens for the ticket. I'll always remember the joy it gave me. And only at the show I realized how many of their songs I had actually known, when I got the ticket - i didn't recognize the band's name... Now, it's still one of favorites.
Great reaction to a great song Bisscute, I love your honesty and the way you tell it like it is, that's very refreshing with all of the rest of the reactors out there, much love to you, your family and friends. ❤❤
If I could roll my "r"s like you do, I would would come up with sentences where every word had an "r" in it just to blow people's minds!💯😂Your reactions are always fun!🤗❤️✌️
I saw Golden Earring in the '80s. They opened up for Molly Hatchet, which made for a weird crowd of punk rockers, college kids, and cowboys! But it was a great concert. Golden Earring were really good live.🤗❤️✌️
I've always liked this song! Nice reaction! I never realized how neat the drums in this song were until I watched a drum-RU-vidr (Sina), now I realize how neat/complex it was...
Golden Earring had been around since 1961. They had some hits in Europe, but didn't break into the American market as much until later. The songs that hit big Internationally include "Radar Love" (1973), "Twilight Zone" (1982), & "When A Lady Smiles" (1984).
its timeless, created in the 60 and still hear it on radio today, i really like to hear this when iam driving.............(it gives me 2 tickets for speeding).
Hey Miss Biss loved your reaction to Golden Earring from 70s 80s Era back up vocals was the guitarist and for your next reaction Twilight Zone ❤❤😮😢🎉 won't disappoint
This is the tune we would crank up when driving alone on a road trip .... Raydar love .... the y is silent LOL .... This was our go to song back in the day. I believe this was their ONE big hit ... awesome reaction cutie :)
Barry Hay on lead vocals,George Kooymans on lead guitar and backing vocals.George and the bassist Rinus Gerritsen started the band in the very earle '60's.Ths band is one of the oldest band in rock history, they played for over 50 years, only stopping a few yearsago because of the health of George Kooymans.George also sings lead on some of their songs.Try listening to him on Pouring My Heart Out Again,it is a great song. These guys playing live were better than most bands.Always great vocals, lead and bass guitars, and Cesar Zuiderjijk was a great drummer. You might also like Twilight Zone,Are You Receiving Me and the Vanilla Queen.Thank you for this video.
Decent band and good song. Twilight zone was huge for them in the states. If you like Golden Earring I suggest checking out a criminally underrated band called Autograph. They are an 80's band that put out bangers. They had terrible management and marketing so many people don't know about them. I saw them at my local county fair in Central Illinois, USA in the late 80's. Turn up the radio and when I'm gone are their best songs imo.
