The Analogues perform Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight & The End by The Beatles during a live rendition of the album Abbey Road, performed at Abbey Road Studios, June 30, 2019.
A request to everyone at The Analogues: please don't stop doing these performances. The world needs music like this, people like you. We still have a chance...
I have an incredibly bad feeling that it might soon be over: They are currently playing a "Best of"-programme called "Hello, Goodbye". Please don't prove me right. In this hopefully unjustified fear, I'm going to London at the end of September to see them at the Paladium one more time. And then again to Berlin in Mid October, where they finish their German tour at the Verti Music Hall.
They are not a tribute band. They play the Bestles note for note with the same instruments from that period. It's like saying the LSO is a Bach/Beethoven tribute band.
Gracias Thank You The Analogues!
He doesn't have the raunch. I could sing this better but it would take me a few to learn this on piano since I don't play. It sounds easily enough done though.
except the Beatles could never in a million years produce it that close themselves. And i say that as a huge Beatles fan and a musician. The Beatles couldnt replicate it like that.
@Orechaser how can you even say that. They made the song and were only around for like 8 years. Probably like one or two years after this song came out. This guy has had like 40 years to practice a 50 year old song. Maybe they can't replicate it because 2 years after this song came out they broke up. Then in 20 years 2 members passed away.
Heard this song for many years, but it holds new meaning for me after seeing my mom, dad, and 2 dogs (ALL very dear to me) pass away in a span of just 1.5 years. Really hurts (posting with comment with a tear drenched face), even though knowing others have gone through the same in their own experience, it just really hurts. I'm definitely carrying that weight, as the song says, as I continue on with life carrying on their memories.
If you recall, there was a fairly long gap on the album before you hear Her Majesty. Thus it is here. At the very end you see Diedrick changing over to an acoustic guitar to play it.
Absolutely spot on - I love that little smile on the singer's face - he's thrilled with the performance - and so he should be! Sending love and huge thanks from Liverpool!
Look at that Diederik Nomden, has a jam with the other 2 guitars. He jumps behind the keyboard (guitar around his neck) and sing. Multifunctional musician. Absolute class!
I found out about this group while browsing Beatles songs on RU-vid, I'm amazed I hadn't heard about them prior to that. I stay away from covers, because 99% of the time, the artists put their own spin on the music and I feel it suffers. But, I've never heard any band cover any music as well as this. They got the sound and feel of the piece spot on, they actually did the music much justice without the need for pointless showmanship. What an incredible band!
You should see the documentary of them Peter. "Sgt. Pepper 50 years later". They collected the original instruments from all over the world to sound just like the Fab Four.
My eyes are tearing up, so beautiful. It is stunning to hear the way they perform this song. It brings back memories of a period where I was playing music in the Netherlands. Being from the Netherlands and living in Rawlins Wyoming, I am missing playing again.
Masters of their craft, every single one of them. I'm still blown away at how at 4'43", the lead guitarist can casually sit behind his keyboard, toss his guitar pick aside and launch into the closing piano melody of The End without missing a beat.
The best cover I have ever heard of the Beatles....Excellent musicians and brilliant interpretation....The golden farewell to the best musical band of the 20th century.
it's recorded live, that's right, but that literally happened at the Abbey Roads Studio in London. It was their biggest recording room and a select audience was invited.
Thanks to the Analogues I (re) discovered so many Beatles songs and this gem is one of them that I totally forgot about. Thanks, guys for putting so much effort in recreating the perfect sound. I will see you in Zoetermeer next year! Love you!
I get a smile on my face when the drummer gives that look that says, "I got this" at the start of Ringo's drum solo. I love the Analogues' cover of this part of the Abbey Road album. Such a wonderful group of talented musicians and singers. So glad they found each other.
I saw the Beatles twice on stage. Couldn’t hear them through all the furore that accompanied their every performance and viewing was constantly disrupted by St. John’s Ambulance personnel. The Analogues are giving the public exactly what I missed in the 60s onwards ie a true (I would say better) LIVE interpretation of some of the best works of music ever written, thank you.
The micro differences from the original actually makes it better for those of us who have heard the original 1000x. It's like a fresh version we've never heard before. Love it.
The Love you take is equall to the love you make.
What a song. Don’t think it ever got the credit it deserved - a masterpiece. And now revived by a truely great “cover” band. Although cover doesn’t begin to describe this band’s talent
So honoured to have seen these guys live recently in Munich. I started crying when they played this song. Magnificent. The best concert I have ever been to.
Wowwww! Like it to the max! You're all great, I think you're Beatle fans, coz' you nailed it, looks the best, the best tribute band of the greatest band, "The Beatles."
