Goldenrod: An Edible Wild Plant with 30+ Reasons to Love It! 

I am slowly I will admit waking up to just some of the abundance around me and it seems to me that every plant has it's own story to tell and you help keep my enthusiasm alive !

I think Goldenrod was the one that finally made me think ok that's it, God has surrounded us with medicine and food, it's everywhere and we struggle to weed it out and plant other food 😆 Thanks for another great video, when there is a wild plant I want to know about and I see your video I know it will be filled with what I want to know and then some.

Watching more Goldenrod videos while I sip some tea made with some leaves I foraged just yesterday. Love your video. So much more information that I’ve learned for it’s edibility. Can’t wait to try some of these. Thanks so much.

THANK YOU for providing such valuable information on the beautiful plant that grows on our property. Recently I read that Goldenrod is helpful at preventing kidney stones of which I passed one of those little devils this past Spring. So, in addition to eating a low oxalate vegan diet, I am searching for anything that prevents kidney stones other than consuming animal-based calcium sources.

Goldenrod is really do miracle ,the ichy skin i had for years from alergy to the chlorin in swiming pool has gone after drinking goldenrod tea

I really found your video very informative and enjoyable. I was trying to identify some leafs on some plants that have taken over my front garden area. So now I know to pull them out before they get 6 feet tall and take over all of it. I am hoping the bea bombs and rabeccas will come back then.

As a teenager with very high allergy symptoms, I had the scratch test. My eyes were very red and itchy and so was my nose. I was told that I was allergic to rag weed. I thought that it was the same as the golden rod. Thank you for clarifying.

I get the need for the disclaimers of consulting a doctor, yet most have little knowledge of medicinal plants. Combined with the fact they make no money on it, they seldom will recommend anything that cuts into the bottom line. Case in point; the recent virus and the stiffling of cheap effective therapeutic treatments. I have little faith in corporate medicine, and for good reason. Bottom line; do your own research and choose your doctor very very carefully!!

Thank you for this informative video of an abundant visible plant every late summer. I heard on a recorded speech that U of Montreal did a study of goldenrod & found it safer & more effective for men than Viagra. Not that I need it, just sayin. You've taught me what I can use it for.

Do you wash the leaves, flower before drying them just like you said ragweed is wind driven and gets on it. Should they be soak in salt water like most other vegtables are done to get the bugs off of them?

You can also dry the flowers, spray paint em green, and use em as trees for model railroads lol

I just nibbled on about three little teeny leaves near the flowers and they had a really bad flavor, is that normal for goldenrod? Because if it is it's not very edible as far as flavor goes. I just ingested a small amount to see if my body can take it. If I have any problems I won't be doing that again LOL. I picked a whole bunch of it today all the flour heads that were open and starting to open because I wanted to make some tinctures etc or I may just take the flowers that I picked and scatter them up and down the ditch in front of the property so that they can start growing out there so I don't have to look for them later I can grow them where I need them. I have asthma and arthritis really bad. I also get swollen feet and I have urinary issues in that eye almost need to wear a absorbent pad. So I'm hoping it can help with that. Cuz I really don't want to have to wear a sanitary napkin or a diaper later if I can take goldenrod and maybe alleviate that problem that's one thing less I got to worry about. I am very interested in the oil to make a muscle rub so I'm going to check that video out now.

I'm thinking of making a salve with Goldenrod and Olive oil, how much Goldenrod would I need? And is this plant good for wounds?

can you take fresh flowers and leaves and boil them and make tea and get the benefits from the tea? or will the heat kill off all the beneficial chemicals?

What information do have about goldenrod and palatability for farm amimals? I cut and field dried and baled a 20 acre field of predominate goldenrod and my sheep didn't care to eat any of the stems, leaves or flowers.

I have a dehydrator and would like to dry it for tea .Do you have a video on that so i can learn please . Also it may be worth mentioning to make sure you dont collect any from areas where things may have been sprayed or gotten road run offs , just to make sure its safe and clean . Correct ? I'm surrounded on all sides with this stuff but I am not completely sure if it is golden rod, looks like it except the flowers are slightly larger than in the video. It might just be the time of year.

Goldenrod is edible, while golden boy not necessarily

Goldenrod is not related to ragweed. If you have allergies to ragweed, you won't also have allergies to goldenrod.
