Today's review is all about Goldfield & Banks Bohemian Lime Fragrance. Bohemian Lime is a 2020 launch and it features Australian Finger Limes and a key player in the fragrance a fruit I was not familiar at all. Well, the fragrance works as it's quite refreshing and effervescent almost like ginger ale or ginger beer or even going further and calling it a fragrance that smells like a Moscow Mule. Finger limes are available at the Santa Monica farmers market, as well as specialty markets in LA if you’re interested in finding them stateside. They most certainly pop like lime caviar in your mouth! Great review yet again, can’t wait to try the fragrance!

I have this! Its by far my favorite. When you first put it on it has a nice fresh out of the shower smell which I like. But then it changes after being on your skin for a little bit into a very pleasant citrusy yet gingery and nostalgic smell. Suuuuper addicting.

This one sounds like a hard one to dislike. Those finger limes look so aesthetically pleasing. I've not tried any from Goldfield and Banks yet, but this would be a great one to start with 👌💚

Dimitris Weber had a great idea to add the rare and native to Austrailia the Austailian Finger Lime that has caviar looking beads inside. Sebastian, I love how you related this fragrance to the Moscow Mule lime, ginger, and effervescent qualities. It sounds like a mass appealling and compliment getting fresh fragrance with some unique qualities I would love to try. Unfortunately, I haven't tried anything from Goldfield and Banks as of yet.

Never tried anything of this house although I've seen something from them featured many times. This looks very fresh for the summer, but not like the typical citrus. Would love to try this! Never seen that fruit either. Need to Google it

For me, three words define this scent. Citrus, vetiver and woods. The woods are like from cedrat boise and the citrus is mostly lime and bergamot, the vetiver is kind of dirty but decorated with the fresh lime. It smells great, I think its classy, not modern but either way a great scent. Definetly for warm wheather

Wow this one sound amazing. I'm a huge fan of ginger is fragrances it's a must for me. Fragrances that have a effervescent vibe to them are always a winner for me (blue de Chanel, dior Sauvage). Never heard of the finger lime note and one o look forward to finding out about. Limeaventus is a great name lol

I'm going to guess that Nishane's 'Ani' smells great on you. The crunchy, tart green apple mixed with the juicy spicy ginger and the grassy green notes all dancing around on that solid heavy sweet wooden stage.

I think that Zing is characteristic of the finger line. Like bright citrus bubbles that pop in your mouth but with a fresh spicy quality that fresh ginger has

Effervescent was a good descriptor, at least for the initial spray. Perhaps I didn’t apply it correctly, but on me, the dry down was a bit muted. I didn’t get Aventus at all.

Friend gave me a sample of this and I'm hoarding the last drops, just to smell, it's so interesting. Little clean for me, but the lime has such depth. Swerves just enough away from being typically aftershave-y. Reminds me faintly of Echo by Davidoff, but I haven't actually smelled that one in years, could be way off.

There are different strains of Bohemian Lime , smelling and tasting differently . The commercially grown one is cheaper and it's more sour and there's greenness in it , like a pine needles. There's a one yellow one that's less sour, and it's something in between the commercially produced one and grapefruit. There are jams made of finger limes , but generally speaking it's expensive to work with it , and even though it's different, the price difference between finger limes and other citruses is huge. That's all from a cooking point of view, I'm a Pastry Chef.

The only close dupe that immediately sprung to mind was Floris's 'Lime' bath oil. The opening of Bohemian Lime is incredibly underwhelming, it just feels so basic and hackneyed. I gave it a couple of hours but no magic dance happened on my skin. I wish they'd have done something really unusual with a stealthy sweet note that's not easily identified or perhaps even challenging to work with in a lab, something to hide amongst all that refreshing zing and integrate fully with it from start to finish; it could have held back the bitterness of the lime rind scent and brought us truly magical, thirst-quenching, moreish citrus juice. When I crack open a can of Solo there's a really wonderful, unique sugary effervescence that is unique to that exact soft drink; refreshing but compellingly sweet rather than fizzy, bitter or metallic. I hoped it would smell like that for some reason. Bohemian Lime is just too basic and played out, and for me it only makes sense as a proposition in extremely hot summer weather. And oh dear, what a splitting headache a strong citrus fragrance on a man can induce, holy smokes! People would puke if you drenched your neck in too much of this sharp, bitter liquid. I can't imagine it being worn in a pub in Lancashire in mid February. It would reek of an outdated 'after shave', that whole fresh petitgrain 'tonic' vibe that grandfathers of a certain generation splash on after shaving. What a shame, as I hoped for something entirely unexpected and enormously addictive to come at me sideways; instead I got my dad's 'splash cologne' circa 1988.

The founder of Goldfield & Banks, Dimitri Weber will be at my favorite fragrance boutique Etiket, in Montreal on Thursday and offering a master class. I'm signed up for the event and I can't wait. He'll be doing an overview of the house and go into detail about their latest fragrance, Purple Suede. The class has a deposit fee of $65 but you get a discovery set and includes all the materials for the master class. The deposit is also deductible from any Goldfield & Banks purchase on the day of the event, so I'm torn between getting Bohemian Lime or Purple Suede. I'm torn because I love both.

Finger limes aren't easy to come by even here in Australia but lately it has become a popular ingredient in the local beauty industry. I have their discovery set and my favourite so far is the white sandalwood. Wondering if you've explored another Aussie permium perfume brand called Mihan aromatics. Their latest Munlark Ash is bit like Baie 19 but sorta better - more rounded.
