There is something so utterly heartwarming about how Jack portrays children - they are so sweet and they make the cutest sounds. I've seen a lot of different ways that people represent kids in art and music and the way Jack does makes me so unbelievably happy for some reason.
its probably because he see's them as... children. most people see them as hell spawns but that depends on what children you've seen before. hell most of the people who hate little kids have never even had any
Going through the comments, I’m surprised no one has mentioned that he is singing about someone named Goldie, and also about “hot, cold, perfect porridge”. His wife was Goldie locks.
usually when a child passes away the parents leave their room just as it was with all their toys and memorabilia. I think Goldie was one of his children.
I love how he was just singing a song about a dead relative or his wife, then his daughter comes in and just says dinner is ready. It totally changes the mood for only a second, but I love it
My mom passed away from cancer back in February of 2020. My dad has been in an on and off low since, and sometimes he'll listen to music that reminds him of her. He even has our dog in the room with him by his chair. Something about this scene shows such a small reflection of that same kind of quiet sadness, a melancholy after losing a partner. Even when there's other people still in your life looking after you and others enjoying the simple pleasures of the outdoors, you just calmly sing about your lost love. Change "Goldie" to "Rosie," and it's very much close to home for me
Jack treats sorrow so kindly. The art itself is surreal, but the big picture successfully communicates something intangible and universal that can't be expressed with words. So grateful to have listened to his art.
if anyone’s wondering “where jack is” since he hasn’t uploaded in a while, he’s been working on a halloween short with adult swim called opal, it’s on youtube and 100% recommend checking it out. (and i almost forgot about the song he put out on jacks micropop!!) i imagine he’ll probably take a break after creating that long of a story. so give him some time
i just checked and he didn't put anything out on micropop. however, there was a release under the name jack stauber, although it wasn't released by him.
Ok… contrary to popular belief of Goldie being his wife, I think that Goldie might be the daughter who butted in during the song for dinner. Though she is still alive, the dad is mourning the younger version of Goldie. This explains the scene of him watching almost somberly towards the playing children. The stuff in the storage might also belong to her. I’m not good at making theories for this stuff, but this is just my interpretation of the video
Yeah this is possible , Maybe when he says I miss her too he means that he misses the times when she played competitions(the trophy and the medals)and used to spend time with him
The only thing that throws me off from this interpretation is the rocking chair (which typically older people would use) and the dog not being excited when the daughter comes out for that split second. Knowing dogs, they would be excited to see someone they remember fondly, at *any* moment.
@@damianhernandez3488 yes But I don't actually know anything about their past or their achievments, but eve so I felt that hard for the characters That's what I was complimenting about this beautiful video
I think how I interpret the meaning is how we shouldn’t fixate on people who were in our life and focus on the people who are in our life, and I think it leaves a really nice message
[Verse 1] Your sons meet me daily, A matter to be done. You’re finding it harder and harder, It’s been years since you won. [Chorus] Take up my storage, it’s all your-idge, Hot, cold, perfect porridge. Take up my storage, it’s all your-idge, Goldie, Goldie, Goldie-uh.
When I first watched this, I was sitting across from my mom's old chair a few days after she had passed. Since then, this song has made me cry everytime. Her death is pretty fresh, and I'm so thankful to have something that helps stubborn tears to fall. Nothing will ever fill the space she left, but having a song to cry out my sorrows to helps. Thank you for putting this out into the world. It's helped me more than the booze ever could.
I was half expecting Goldie to come back at the end and say "I'm back from my day trip to Wisconsin" and "You bet your sweet ass I brought cheese hats"
Wow, the way the tone absolutely transformed is amazing. It went from a mournful contemplation of lonliness and its "inevitability" to a celebration of new life and new beginnings and the switch was so abrupt and stark it almost doesn't even feel real. I went from grieving the loss of this guy's wife along with him to being incredibly happy for the rich life he's still living
the way I received it was he was playing his guitar missing his wife, Goldie then his daughter reminded him that dinner was going to be ready soon and he looks at his daughter's kids kind of in a sad way because they weren't able to meet Goldie
@@peppermay7259 exactly even visually with goldie's trophy having webs on it tells the viewer that she has at least been gone long enough for the children to never meet her.
a few hours before this was posted our eldest dog actually passed, and its intention probably wasnt to help in the way it did, but really jack if you see this, this video was perfect fucking timing. thank you.
One of the few animations on the internet to legitimately make me tear up every time I watch it. Just something so simple has left me with a feeling of emptiness but also optimism. I imagine it being tough for a lot of people when one of your loved ones passes away, especially if it's your significant other. But there's also the good part in remembering fondly on the time spent together and keeping them in your heart, even long after they've left this world. If this really was the last video on Jack Stauber's youtube channel, it'd certainly be the best way to end it.

Dope actually was sort of old timey. It just got more popular with later generations. The term’s been used in that context for somewhere around 40 years
I love the message. The world is changing, we are getting older, but all we can do is accept it, no matter what. Some people watch this and think its just another eerie weird video, but it reminds me of that fact that no matter what, the world is developing around us. It is a clear demonstration of what might happen to anybody who is still young. One day we will all be old, just sitting on a rocking chair, watching grandchildren play while missing a deceased pal/family.
@@c.harlotte We'll probably survive one way or another, if it gets real bad it also makes it easy to see what is making it bad and to rally against it. Kind of like getting vaccinated, the a good chunk of the population thinks "Hey X would be good" and if X turns out to be really detrimental then people learn it's not good and then there is a push back as we get a better idea of "Hey, X was a bad idea" sure we will kind of forget it as a collective as the generations pass, but it should get us through. Sorry if I was rambling a bit there, just thought I'd share some optimsim.
This reminds me of my great grandfather, he always looked at a photo of his wife and would tell stories about his younger years on the old Kansas farm he owned. I miss the ol’ bastard.
People think we are not gonna be using the same lingo 50 years in the future like bro you realise old people still have the way they used to talk too right lol. So i think this man is in the future somehow
This has such peaceful vibes. It feels like acceptance. I know a lot of your stuff is meant to be nonsensical, but I just recently went through a loss and I'm hoping to feel like this about it one day.
I don't think most of his stuff is nonsensical per say, though the video usually is. His videos have stories and meaning to each of them but they are portrayed abstractly.
@@bowielolz I dont know im just infering and there a bunch of clues that could be hinting that its goldielocks family we see. plus the part about porage and her picture.
Jack I've been following you since you were a small channel and it's just so heartwarming to see you've gone so far with your love for animation and music yet you still make such consistently amazing works. Your music helped cheer me up while I was going through breaking apart from my friends and bf while I was studying for the boards simultaneously. May your creative mind stay running, you're truly a gift ❤️
What's so wrong about that? man, somtimes your own peers can confuse you.... You know simple slangs like dope have originated far before this generation. Just saying.
Everyone speculating about a dead spouse or nostalgia, when I know it is just a man married to a chair that has recently gone into a coma. The truth is right in front of you.
or maybe his daughter, that grew up, and now he misses the days where she would play with the dog under the tree, do i get a prize for discovering that after my first time watching this? (no, im not inteligent enough to go to r/imintelecc, neither have enough iq to go to r/lookatmeiminteligent :P dont post me there please )
@@eyakimicki he posted on his patreon saying how it was very hard to make he is now posting more like experimental things on his patreon that are like a minute long but takes a month to do so remember that opal is over ten minutes and a lot more detailed than these animations
There’s something so special about Jack Stauber. There are so many animations that start happy and then have some sort of twist, and that’s ok, but you rarely find an animation that ends happily. And when you do find one, it’s a nice change of pace. But these videos don’t really fall under feel good, and they don’t have any dark twists at the end. It’s just interesting. It pulls you in without needing a conflict. Not much needs to happen, you don’t always need to understand what’s happening. It’s just somehow nice to watch.
Maybe the old dude is supposed to represent us fans when we get old and have families and Jack (Goldie) is dead. So we miss him, his accomplishments, and sing his songs in his memory.
I know people want Jack back - but don’t rush him. He still makes Patreon stuff so of course he still enjoys making content so he's definitely going to come back. And I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but Jack is probably going to hit 2 million soon, and that seems like a good time to at least make a thank you video.
I think he's also in a band and he did a adult swim short some months back. dude's busy i bet. but some early access work can be viewed on his patreon. I'm. happy with whenever he decides to post. never rush an artist it ruins the joy, besides months wait isn't too bad when eventually content will be shared for basically free ◝(*'◡'*)◜
This makes me extremely sad. How he stares into the chair written ‘goldie’. My grandma that had to live through the fact that her husband passed away while she was always stuck on a wheel chair and it kinda hits hard. I still remember how her shouts would bounce off of the walls, and how she desperately wanted to pass away and be picked up by god. Edit: She’s at heaven now, don’t worry!! :)
Goldie as in Goldie Locks hol up *theory time* Goldie is Goldie Locks from the nursery rhyme. She’s obviously a kid because she isn’t plagued by the reality that life is meaningless and is going to be the same until she dies. So he “married” maybe not married but whatever, he married minor Goldie Locks and later the bears gruesomely ate her and left her entrails at their doorstep because she ate their porridge. Ok this comment is cringe but I’m so freaking bored you don’t even know. What is life? Do I exist ok bye now bruh moment GG 😀😀😀😃😃😂😂😂
Jordan A holy shit man here’s what i was thinking: he looks at the chair and says he misses her, and it shows the trophy case with all the childhood things like a teddy bear and then he shows some little kids while he’s singing. his daughter comes out to tell him dinners ready but when she goes back in he continues to look at her chair and the children and sing. i just thought he was sad his daughter grew up and wasn’t as innocent and unconditional as she once was edit: goldie sounds like a cute childhood nickname he might give his daughter, and maybe this was a lullaby or a cute song he used to sing to her
@@Em_Cee669 the lyrics in this song are the same exact lyrics in the original Goldie to. I like to believe that jack saw us all suffering trying to figure out the lyrics to the original and uploaded this lol
