With food delivery platforms like Uber Eats, GrubHub and Postmates bursting at the seams, we wanted to know what some delivery people were doing with your food before you took a bite.
I’m writing this on March of 2021, I have been doing Grubhub for six months since October 2020, and I can assure you that all the restaurants that I have gone to have to tamper proof seals on them. I just want to add that this is disgusting and these people should not be calling themselves human beings I would never consider doing that.
I had ordered from a restaurant that had a tamper proof seal but the person delivering my food was still able to open the bag and close it back up.. they are almost half of my sons burrito and dropped off my food at the pool area of my complex.. when we reached out to Grubhub for a refund they only wanted to refund partial because other door was not eaten .. we explained since the food was in foam containers we didn’t feel comfortable in eating it,, they didn’t care and insisted they will only refund partial.. after being on the phone with them for over 30 minutes(at this point super pissed) they agreed to refund..with this being said .. even if there is tamper proof seals, they will find a way 😕
@@michellezuniga9982 true. It makes it hard for the honest, faithful people. I have no words. Some people are just disrespectful. I’m sorry you had to go through that.
@@jonas000111 they put this on the news as a warning to customers but it also gives these driver’s the idea that it’s ok. Sometimes they should never put this stuff in the news. I watched it again and feel disgusted. I’ve ordered before also but I’m getting away from it too
I've been doing Uber eats since the pandemic started & I've never ever been tempted to go in somebody's bag and start eating on anything that is completely truly disgusting and I cannot see how somebody can literally think like that. I treat people the way I want to be treated. And I handle people's food the way I would want my food to be handled properly. This is nuts
I've done food delivery (Uber, DoorDash, Grubhub) for 2 years now and it's so pathetic how pieces of trash like these think they won't get caught. I hope these idiots that were caught were permanently deactivated from all app based delivery services! Shame on them for giving us faithful drivers who actually do this to provide for our families a horrible reputation!
I commend you. I know you have a very hard job. I use these services sometimes because due to a disability, I cannot drive. I always tip the drivers well because I imagine you have to work fast, and drive all over the place with these crazy gas prices , at low wages! I'll bet a lot of customers don't even thank you! Thanks from me. 🙂
Glad to say that of all of the ubereats deliveries I made before the rates were cut to nothing, I never once ate anything of a customer's. I even asked them to seal the food. That's gross
Victor P An overwhelming amount of the drivers on those apps are ethical, amazing people trying to make a living. In a time where computers and machines have completely absolved millions of jobs, your comment hurts so many people attempting to make an honest living.
@@klienmurollo8395 I respect people who work for Uber and lyft who drive people to places they have to go. I don't like Uber eats drivers who stand in line at restaurants pretending the order they are waiting for is more important than the people who are physically there in like waiting for their food. Trusting unlicensed food handlers with other people's bags is totally unreasonable, eventually one day one driver is going to poison someone and Uber eats and all these food deliveries apps will be shut down.
@@klienmurollo8395 Then, those drivers should be the first people pushing for real tamper proof bags or just stapling it shut 3-4 times. I feel bad for honest drivers who lose customers because of this, but if I know there's a good chance my food is gonna get messed with by the driver then I can't order from the app.
I would never have my food delivered by anyone, especially a third party. I've seem the hygienic habits of too many of them. It's okay. I'll go get it myself.
I’ve done ubereats and Doordash and never ate my customers food. I’m glad when restaurants puts seals on the bags and I always put those bags in a zippered delivery bag. There is no excuse for drivers to eat customers food, all it does is cause customers to use these delivery apps less. The video does look suspicious though with food not in a delivery bag though.
@Carlos Morales It would be nice if restaurants gave us some free food or discounted food or our delivery service gives us a card for getting food. Its a good idea to bring your own lunch box and bottled water. I always would use the restaurants restroom before getting the food delivery. That is a pet peeve I have when they lock their restrooms.
I would never touch people’s food that isn’t mine! I work as grubhub driver even though I don’t like the tips that doesn’t give me the right to tamper with peoples food
If you are a driver for one of these companies, do yourself a favor & seal the bag at the merchant. Tie them down if possible, if not, carry a stapler & some stickers. 5 seconds now could save you a lot of headaches later.
not everyone like this... far from it but one of my main reason i was questioning doing it there places that do seal bags and sometimes they do not. five guys doesn't seal bags, panera bread does and doesn't. McDonald's does, burger and windy don't or haven't seen it.... chiplote sometimes will and others times doesn't and firehouse sub does and doesn't i believe. chills, apples and 99 do not.
Due to a disability, I do not drive. That necessitates me ordering from these places once in a while (not regularly, it does get expensive with the delivery fee and I ALWAYS tip the drivers well). In the past, I have had unsealed orders come to me before and the order of chips, or whatever was suspiciously small but I really did not want to think that the drivers could be disgusting thieves. I live next to Phoenix, the hottest city in the country, and several times, I have had the order delivered with the drink missing! I guess the drivers got thirsty. Of course, the food service will reimburse me or redeliver when this happens. It's a hassle to wait for part of your meal to be redelivered or get reimbursed for part of the meal that you really wanted. Now, I only order from places that have tamper-proof seals on the food. There are many great drivers out there just trying to make a living and not getting paid very much to do it. I don't want to accuse all of them when there are just a few bad actors. Like most of us, I think many of these drivers are honest people, working hard and just trying to serve in a thankless profession.
Emerson Melgar There’s millions of people using food delivery apps every day and you let a man pretending to be a journalist, who has a horrible record himself, dictate your life and spark paranoia in you. And then people wonder how media controls the masses. Impressionable masses.
@@klienmurollo8395 At best 5-10% of drivers eat the food, and I consider that best case scenario. If I order 20 times off these apps, there's a very good chance some guy had his grubby fingers through my food. Honest drivers and consumers should be pushing for restaurants to actually tamper proof the bags or just staple it shut a few times.
Burger king, and McDonalds along with some misc restaurants seal the bag before pickup, yes there is a problem but there are some who are already assisting the industry in making sure food is not tampered with. As a previous delivery driver I would just order from the same place or had already eatin so that I could resist eating somebody elses food and with sodas at mcdonalds for $1 there is never a need to drink from somebody elses order. Every delivery driver is not a bad person, it's always the few that ruin it for the rest of us. JMTC.
This is why I don’t order from grub hub, door dash or any other food delivery service. It’s too tempting for them to just reach in your bag of food and have a little taste.Disgusting.
All of the restaurants that offer home delivery have stapled their bags so I know whether the drivers have tampered with the food or not. As for the drinks, I just poured them down the kitchen sink.
I remember I few years back when I did doordash, the restaurants would hand me the bag of food open and I was never tempted or even though about touching another persons food. They paid for it. I have absolutely no right to do that. I wouldn’t want someone messing with my food.
Atlanta’s ahead of everyone else, and when I order from Burger King or other fast food places, it’s directly from their apps because the delivery fee is less that way…unless if it temporarily says “Pickup only” and I have to rely on the big four (Uber Eats, Grubhub, DoorDash, Postmates).
im a Delivery Driver ..an Not once EVER have i touched someone's food. cause i wouldn't want that done unto me. the only thing i do for a Jerk who doesn't tip, i remove condiments an side items. example a tacobell order if they dont tip me..they will get there food an drink untouched. but they will not receive any sauces, forks or napkins. that will go strait into the trash.
Some restaurants (Arby's, Rally's Jack's to name a few) I've dealt with have a tamper-proof seal along the hole for your straw and lines it up so it goes past the edge of the lid, so the ends of the seal are plastered firmly on the top of the cup.
It seems like the most common thing to steal is the French fries, I see two solutions to this issue. Step one, tie off the bag and place a paper sticker on it. If they untie it then it will clearly be visible and there’s no way anyone is getting a paper sticker off in one piece let’s be real 😂. Step two, place the fries in boxes like In-N-Out does and place a paper sticker on that as well.
This video is old but now you have the delivery people that feel so entitled to a tip that they will pick up your order and eat just because someone didn't tip enough. There are videos all over ticktock like this.
Local food delivery services, and stores that deliver on their own, place stickers over the bags and boxes. They even place stickers that cover the lids of the drinks. If drivers try to remove the stickers to eat the food, they'd tear the bags or plastic cups easily giving away the crime. However, this doesn't a few never-do-wells from simply taking the food for themselves and never deliver it. They can further this by giving the delivery service a bogus contact number so you cannot contact the driver directly for an update. The only option you have at that point is to cancel the order and get a full refund...IF the delivery service offers that.
So everywhere these apps operate is the same thing. In Costa Rica they just steal your order saying that they were at the address waiting, then they cancel the order and they get free meals and the app your money. The client is nor first for them
I am So Glad where I live at they use The Tamper Proof Seal and although it is possible to tamper with it , I always check it just incase , and Drink wise I just drink My Own Soda at home cuz I don’t trust no one with My Drink 🤷🏽♀️
We the people were already sure about this part of snacking . Vetting the drivers is also the best way . Tell them food mist go in back out of reach things like that .
The best thing to do is cook for yourself and stop relying on others To do it for you. Because you and I know if you want things done right you have to do it yourself.
But the app tells us to check for missing items, even if the bag is sealed if I don’t check for missing items customer gets mad at me for not checking everything was in there, but if I do check there mad because I went thru their food?
I agree with you. I think that is not our job to do. We as the delivery drivers, our job is just come to the restaurants, pick up the food and deliver it. If there is something missing from the order, that is the responsibility of the restaurant who is making the order, they have to make sure everything is there, not the delivery drivers's faults. In that case, the customers have to call the restaurants to complain about it not the drivers. They are lazy and just want the delivery person to do extra work for them, which is not right. That is why people are complaining about the delivery people stick their hands in there then the restaurant should do their job right to avoid those problems.
They should do a show on all the people who do deliveries with their dogs in the car. There is no interview process for doordash or grubhub. There is a background check and an office where you pick up/pay for your delivery bag. Doordash literally tells you they do not care who you have in car with you on deliveries. I would never use these services, unless I wanted cold food or some one else's germs. These company's hire anyone with a car period!
Goodness Gracious And you and that old broad look like crazy cat ladies. I’ve never in my life known an Uber driver who does the things you mentioned. But I do know for a fact every cat owner like you has a house that smells like urine because you’re 14 cats pee in a sandbox in your home.
@@klienmurollo8395 You sound very lost little lady. I dont know much about Uber so I'm lost WITH you I suppose on what I'm supposed to get from that sentence. We are a normal family that used these services for years and NEVER have I seen a sealed bag from a variety of restaurants. It is unfortunate for the good drivers, probably 90%, who do a good job. The drivers can also eat an item from your bag and when you realize it is not there, call the restaurant and the driver will say it was not in the bag. There is no checking before the bag leaves the restaurant. Another thing, the delivery companies orders are often left on the counter with a note saying which company is to Pick it up. They don't check anything, I have seen it. The driver comes in and grabs the bag and leaves often without saying anything to the people at the counter. I figured I could just pickup a bag and leave, they wouldn't know. The bags should never be left where people can reach them. On another note, it just isn't delivery. Do you really know what is in your food at a restaurant? I know a guy who worked in an exclusive restaurant in college. When the customer would give the wait staff a hard time, the cooks would add a little to the recipe, like food from another plate or they might spit in it. He also said that the restaurant would sometimes take food form a returned plate and add it to a fresh order. In fact, he was fired for refusing to do that. What can you do? Go get your own food if you can. We no longer order from restaurants that use these services.
Because Postmates let drivers order the food for many restaurants. Just finished a PM order, where I had to order a whole god damn meal at a steak house. 50 minutes total wasted and payout was $5 with no tip T_T
I deliver sealed bags all the time. However, on occasion they break. Especially bags I deliver for Amazon Flex from Whole Foods. Sometimes when I am pulling a bag out of the car they break. 4-30-20
Why not just pick up your own food and get rid of all these ride share drivers outlaw them. Their causing to much problems and thier a danger to the public.
Employees who work at the restaraunts also dont use proper handling of food. They go to restroom and dont wash their hands, sneaze right into your food, pick their nose and touch your food...hahahaha its not only food delivery doing it.
@@ocbaamo1 No one's paid enough to have standards anymore. If you paid people a decent wage, but were very strict with food safety violations things like this wouldn't happen.
I work for Doordash and although during the Pandemic they were more places that did the tamper resistance things, basically just taping the bags shut now several places don't bother anymore, but also something that disturbs me, you show a few drivers doing this but make no mention of how many you saw that don't, as in all things there are always those select few that will do something but all in all not the majority, just like I'm sure some news stations will air false news but for the most part they don't.
I barely trust myself with an open bag of food, let alone a complete stranger. I tried UberEats once in order to get a pizza during finals week last spring in order to get more time studying for this HUGE final exam. I was just about ready to pay for and confirm the order when it showed that the food was going to cost me $20, plus $10 for delivery. It gave me an estimated arrival window of an hour, with a disclaimer that the food may be cold upon arrival. The restaurant is 10-15 minutes away and the food, when ordered in person, cost $10 with tax. I immediately deleted Uber zests and jumped into my car. I had a hot and fresh pizza on my kitchen table within 45 minutes. Moral of the story: just go pick up your own food. It is usually faster, cheaper, and then the only person who is to blame for eating all your fries before you get home is yourself.
Alpha0727 you dont get it... the whole idea of ordering is the convenience of not having to leave the safety and comfort of your home. Some people don’t have a car to just drive over there and pick it up.
2 years later and people are ordering food even more. These companies are worth billions. It's a very normal part of life now. The news is so lame they can't even sabotage food delivery apps lololol.
Besides sticking their dirty hands in the bag of food, who knows what else they could have done! It's not safe unless the restaurants have to come up with the seal proof bags or something.
I rather go in the restaurants and order my food and go because I don't trust grub hub employees period because I am seeing what's happening and I watched the news every day and night. Thanks David Goldstein catching these crooks on the jobs
Yes and some restaurants shove so much stuff in a bag the seals get broken... just breaking by the time you get out to the car.... and many restaurants don't even tape or staple to secure the bag... they claim they've run out of labels.... when the restaurants don't even order them.... it's good when delivery drivers get caught but the restaurants also have to secure their bags... because if something is missing the driver should not have to be considered the thief.... then it's the restaurants fault for not securing.... many restaurants just passed the order on to the driver's even if they don't have everything in the bag
Food producers and manufactures are required to have seals on most food products they sell and make so why shouldn't fast food companies be made to seal anything going out for private delivery
reason why i don't order deliveries because i don't trust them, i would rather walk or drive to pick it up then pay an extra delivery fee + tips for someone stealing my damn food lol. Though n offence to serious and honest drivers, i feel bad for their good reputation being destroyed by these idiots.
Food delivery personnel aren’t employable in many decent, professional jobs. That’s why they deliver food for a loving. Would you trust a stranger with your food? No thanks.
You can't trust anyone. Cook your own food or go to a reputable place to eat that "most likely" doesn't mess with your food. Still, the safest thing to do is just buy groceries, wash your food and then cook.
If I'm a Creepy food driver I would smell the food and then say hey man that Shit smellin goooood, Let me scratch my Ass Raw then get some fries outta that bag and hold my fingers out for a Tip.
As an uber eats driver with over 500 deliverys. I work so hard to do a good job....fuck these disgusting people fucking up our reputation. I just want to provide for myself and my daughter. I would never touch somebody food!!!! Then again I'm actually intelligent
Not gonna lie, I was riding with my buddy who was doing DoorDash and after he picked up an order I totally ripped ass and stunk the car up… I felt really bad for the person who was gonna eat the food that had soaked it in 🤣🤣
